This is, once again, rather a slur against our stated ambition of offering “The best in class both on and off the field of play.”

Over on TUI a couple of people are claiming to have finally completed the transaction online for a new season ticket and have only been charged the renewal price....

Percentage of new season ticket holders who didn't see a game last season
The Kraken replied to kwsaint's topic in The Saints
There will be some. But as I original guessed, I reckon less than 2%. I used to work on the business enterprise centre near the stadium, lots of small offices for small businesses on one managed site. There was a draw for every Saints home game to use the centre's 2 season tickets which my office won a couple of times, and they went to people who'd never been to St. Mary's before. The draw stopped after relegation as it wasn't considered worthwhile to continue. I imagine there will be a decent increase in corporate tickets, in the boxes, suites, and just normal STs whereby non-Saints fans will have access to tickets and will come along for the Premier League experience. But I don't think it'll be many; anyone willing to lash out up to £780 in fees for an ST will have been to games last season. -
Speak for yourself, fatty.

I find Richards to be a bit of an odd choice. Unless Pearce is offering him an olive branch. Richards could have gone to the Euros with England but threw his toys out of the pram when he wasn't originally selected and said he wouldn't go on standby. So we took Martin Kelly instead. Kyle Walker seems to be currently in favour and when back from injury will surely provide competition to Glen Johnson for the right back spot, so Richards' actions have pushed him further down the England pecking order. So either Pearce thinks Richards will be out of the England reckoning in future for his snub, and considers him the best over-aged option (I'd disagree if he does think that); or Hodgson still has him in mind for the national side and wants to see him at a "major" tournament (which again I find unlikely).

Is it just me, or did the way Spain play remind you of anyone...?
The Kraken replied to sidthesquid's topic in The Saints
I don't disagree. Last night's game was the only one featuring Spain in the whole tournament that I actually enjoyed watching. Aside from that I've found watching them to be stultifyingly boring. Up until they lost to Italy I'd found Germany to be brilliant to watch. Very attacking, had a go, kept posession well, I thought they were going to walk it even against Spain. But they had a mare against Italy and that was that. The way England play, and what our fans want from watching, is for us to be fast paced, get it forward quickly, take chances. But that approach on its own isn't conduicive to winning games against top level opposition (36% of posession against Italy is a shameful statistic). We won't get any success on the international stage until there is a change both in the mindset of players in how they play, and in supporters too. I don't see that happening any time soon, as the criticism of Spain shows, our fans simply don't want to watch football like that. -

Spain were boring for a lot of the tournament, but last night they were excellent. I can't abide the 4-6-0 formation but last night it worked to complete effect and they were a joy to watch. How strange that what they criticised for most often, tippy tappy football and keeping the ball, are the exact same skills that English footballers seem incapable of. Our "lump it up to the big man" approach is so outdated, yet it seems to be what a lot of the public want. That and "English passion", whatever the hell that is. -

I look forward to the SFC white knights riding forward and scolding everyone for being so mean about the ticket office and their consistent ability to get things wrong.

Well this was in no way an entirely unpredictable outcome.

Actually I can just imagine he's been frothing at the gash at the possibility of being immortalised as a Pompey legend. £30K for a statue. Bloody hell, I'd love to see that, over £100K gave us this: Still makes me  every time.

Exacly the same mentality as the nerds you see camping out for the new Ipad, whilst playing on their current Ipad.
-
F*ck me, they're making an awfully big deal about it. If the statue was such a poor idea and they don't want it hijacked, why have it as an option from the club in the first place? And there's enough gormless idiots on their message boards saying that the statue is the best of the options available. Just give the money to the charities you've robbed and be done with it.

But then we leave out our European cousins from northern France and beyond, what with relative cheapness of air travel these days. This is all very confusing. My Dell-sized mentality can't comprehend it all.
