Weren’t we suffering from injuries when we spanked Wolves 6-0 in the Championship? Anything could happen. As long as they have Mourinho, Jimenez, Neves and Traore they’ll be a tough egg to crack.
-
Otherwise known as Bednarek and Stephens!
-
VAR helping us out so many times shows that our centre backs have been well positioned. If they’d been marginally playing the striker onside more, VAR would have punished us.
-
A one in two goal rate for a player that’s not exactly a striker is very good, even at Championship level and he’s only just turned 23. Ive just seen though that Leeds are after him, however they want him on loan with the move made permanent in the summer. It looks like Hull are rejecting it but I reckon that will ***** up the ears of a few Prem teams...
-
Different types of players as Bowen plays wider but I’d have him in a heartbeat, seems like the sort of player that could make the step up. But Hull want £20 million so it wouldn’t have been like for like in fees. Personally I’d like Adams AND Bowen but we’ll have to wait until the summer to find out if we have any money! That’s if someone like Newcastle don’t get him this window. I can see a flourish of last week of January signings by the likes of West Ham, Villa and Newcastle.
-
I’d still like us to bring in a first choice right back, but with Valery back I can understand why we’re potentially sticking with what we have. However as Cedric has said he’s definitely off in the summer, I’d be doing what I could to bring in a first choice right back this window to overlap Cedric’s departure, to help bed him in before next season, and to see what he has to offer before starting next season with an untested new right back signing. Not to mention strengthen us this season. Plus Cedric can play left back if needed so it’d strengthen us there too.

The problem Gareth has with taking Ings to the Euros is the same concern we have every week... when is his next injury coming from? He seems fitter than ever but we're all thinking it. Aside from that I think he'd be a decent choice for England - he's quick, hard working, a natural goalscorer and was deemed good enough to play for Liverpool. (And it's not like he failed there, just never got fit enough.) Mason Greenwood is raw, look at the mistake Gareth made in selecting Dominic Solanke. If Ings does finish the season on 20+ goals, I think he'll go as 4th choice or whatever.
-
Quite simply we have to hope the Stephens/Bednarek partnership doesn't suffer from illness/injury/suspension. Who's third choice? Judging from recent benches it's Yoshi and he's not exactly had much game time since the Leicester thrashing. Part of me really wants to see what Danso has to offer in his actual position of centre back, but I think chances will be few and far between now - especially as it's Spurs we have in the cup and not, say, Rochdale where we could have tried him out. I really don't think we'll be seeing much of Vestergaard now, unless in an emergency.
-
Have we been linked with any other centre backs? I can’t think of many. I thought Pongracic was a decent fit for us on paper, young, shown how good he is at Salzburg, inexpensive, has worked with Ralph etc. Hey ho, we move on. It definitely seems like we’re penny pinching, I just hope it doesn’t pee Ralph off to the extent he wants out.
-
Apparently will be fit by the end of the month, but yes they are offering a free loan but the loaning club has to cover his large wages and pay them £20 million if they get promoted! I can't see it happening at that but maybe after some negotiation. He's guaranteed goals in the Championship. I'd have said Connor Wickham but I believe he's off to Wednesday.
-
Everton get Lucas Digne, we get Joe Bryan. There's a gulf in quality between those two signings. Bertrand has been one of our best ever left backs - we need someone as good as him in the future or we are going to struggle. Again. Penny-pinching will cost us long term.
-
The correct move by Ralph. He'll be even more eager now to impress. If he has been promised more first team action, which the Mail is reporting, then expect to see an Ings/Adams combo for a while. (Which after his cameo against Leicester, I'm quite excited about.) If he scores ten league goals between now and the end of the season, I'll get a tattoo of him on my butt. (This sentence is not legally binding). As good a foil as Long has been for Ings, let's not forget that his contract is out in the summer, and he's not exactly setting the world alight on the goalscoring front (and never will). IF Adams can start scoring, we'd have two strikers playing together that actually know where the goal is. I still think Leeds will go for someone like Dwight Gayle.

After our early season form I think we would all have liked to have seen a defender or two come in early in January. However as we are currently 3 wins from 3 this calendar year, I think the club has bought themselves some breathing space. As long as a player or two is in by February 1st, the second half of the season we will be stronger.
-
Reading their forum, some have picked up on that, while others are convinced they’ll already be down by then. Bournemouth are a strange fish, on paper they have a decent team but they’re ravaged by injuries and confidence. King and Wilson up top is a decent attack, but they’ve been restricted to playing Solanke, who’s awful. Howe needs to go back to basics if they want to survive. I wonder if Chelsea will activate their buy back clause on Ake. I reckon they could get their money back and more for him in 18 odd months so it seems like a no brainer.
-
Err.... OK so we are now looking at 1-4 points to make those fixtures a decent return! Winning the next two would give us a huge free hit against Liverpool - I still think 4 more points from the next 3 games is a good return. Does anyone else feel it in their bones that we are going to give Liverpool a headache, whatever the scoreline?
-
The Pongracic link is interesting, in that they're basically saying he's off this window for the right price. Granted it may not be to us, but as we're apparently interested, it's not hard to do the Maths. Yes, Stephens and Bednarek have formed a decent partnership at CB, but I'm in the "need another CB" camp in case one gets injured or suspended, especially as we will most probably lose Yoshida at the end of the season, have no faith in Vestergaard and are reluctant to play Danso in his actual position. He was at Bayern Munich until he was 15 - I believe that means he was in the same youth team as Hojbjerg? If my dates are right. Might help him settle quickly if he came. A CB and a RB this window (especially one that can cover LB) would make it a brilliant window, but I'm not holding my breath. My worry is that as good as our form is currently with everyone performing at 8 or higher, a knock of confidence or a couple of injuries could see us slink down the table again.
-
I hope we keep Che, signs recently that he’s an asset for us, but if we do let him go, I hope it’s for a similar amount than we signed him for, and we would definitely need a replacement as we play 2 up front. Unless the club expect big things from N’Lundulu but I’d rather not risk it, especially having gotten ourselves into a decent position. Maybe the club have a big name striker lined up that will surprise us all...
-
I say it every time we win 2 in a row in the League, but this is a good chance to win 3 league games in a row for the first time since Koeman. Never underestimate Wolves, but we’re a tricky outfit right now. Would I take a draw? Mmm, yes.
-
Almost the same. I didn’t want Ralph out per se but changes needed to be made and sacking the manager is the easiest way to make changes mid season. I’m glad we stood by him and he made his own changes. I also voted remain but now the vote is to leave, we should make the best of it.
-
Immense. And I've only been following it on here/bbc/Ladbrokes website. Ghosts well and truly exorcised. Danny Ings is a sex machine.
-
Looking at the table, I still think it’ll be a high points total for survival this season, late 30s. But our recent form has really given us a great chance of a mid-table finish - for survival alone I think we only need 4 more wins and a draw or two. Sounds completely doable and a world away from where we were just a couple of months ago. Yes we’re only five points from safety, but clubs down there have their own problems. Of course, we could regress with an injury or two...
-
VAR again, Sheffield United have their revenge for Tevezgate. That’s them safe and shuts me up that they can still be dragged in to the relegation battle. Also shows how lucky we were that the Djenepo handball wasn’t spotted.

Bore draw this. 1 all.

Sure enough TAA won it. I hate Liverpool.

New contract for the tea lady?
