Remember when Huddersfield passed on Rickie Lambert because there'd be no resale value for a 27 year old? I wonder what the resale value on Osvaldo will be if he's a success....
-
If it's a loan, i'd expect it to be someone like Sinclair. As long as whoever it is, it's a loan with an option to buy, I'll be happy.

For £15 million, who would you rather have? Andy Carroll or Pablo Osvaldo?

Retirees still keep their hand in from time to time...

Get the **** In!!!!! We're talking an Italian International with a great goalscoring record in recent years. Wow, just wow. I hope he fits in well. Stuff it, I'm going to get greedy now. An AM and CB! Bring them on! (Ha! Nah I'm content.)

I am ITK and I am saying that he's signed. *I'm not ITK, it's just that enough sources have said this is happening that I felt confident enough that it would happen, and thus could declare myself ITK. Which I'm not.

Ossie Ossie Ossie, Oi Oi Oi, Ossie, Oi, Ossie, Oi, Ossie Ossie Ossie, Oi Oi Oi. I ask for royalties to the tune of £10 every time it gets sung.

All the things she said by TATU. 'cos he likes tattoos. Ok I'll put some more thought into it.

Little, unfashionable club, formerly in the shadow of our more illustrious neighbours... Riquelme!!! Remember that... Is it just me, or with our three new recruits, does anyone think our sending off tally might go up this year?

Excellent photoshopping! Well fingers crossed this goes through. Eyebrows will be raised in the direction of our little club.

JWP sticks out like a sore thumb, because he still looks like he is 10! (Unless I'm wrong, that's him back row, third from the left.) Not sure on the others, though I think Luke could be front row second from the right. Chambers not a clue! Front row second from the left?

Isgrove. I suppose you're right in that another signing would restrict the chances of youngsters like Isgrove (especially with the positivity surrounding our Academy at the moment) but to bring in the likes of Osvaldo AND Banega - well that would make for a truly brilliant, interesting and exciting season!
-
I'll go for page 97 for Osvaldo signing, 16 smashed computer screens, 7 SWFers' spouses with black eyes, and 2 slit wrists. I hope this transfer goes through, as his stats are great, video footage is amazing, he's an Italian national teamer and we all love a big money signing, but I also harbour an element of dread about this signing. Watching Delgado fail all those years ago was bad because £3.25 million was big money to us then. Now we're talking £18 million+. That's a lot of money to ride on one transfer. Perhaps just nerves as we've never spent sums of money like this...

Unfortunately I agree with S-Clarke that if we sign Osvaldo, we'll have finished our business but I can't help thinking we're still short on attacking midfield creativity. I still hope we go in for Banega, or someone like him. If we don't get Osvaldo, and go for a cheaper striker, I do think we'll plump for an attacking midfielder anyway. AM is my choice, and while I do think we could utilise another top CB too, that's a position that's covered pretty well for now.

12 points from Shaw. Him and Benteke are running my team at the moment. Bloody Koscielny.

You lot would find something to moan about in a heavenly Utopian paradise. :-) As long as he's smart and it's not Pompey blue, it's fine. I'm more concerned with his lack of English despite having all summer to learn it. How is he supposed to order a Dominos? Poor guy. Living without Dominos. And Babestation.

Looking through and you can see what players we have to come through. The likes of Seager, Isgrove, Sinclair, Stephens, Gape, Targett and Turnbull are all to come through yet. It depends, I suppose on their position and how lucky they are to get first team action. Turnbull and Stephens are battling Jos, Jose, Dejan and Yoshida for a chance in the first team, and while that's good for squad depth, some fans would still like another top CB to come in, meaning even less chance for the youngsters to break through this season. Targett is currently battling both Shaw and Fox for a chance, and even if Fox does leave before the transfer window ends (which I find unlikely), I'd expect to see another left back brought in. Gape perhaps has the hardest route to the first team, as a central midfielder seeing Wanyama, Cork, Morgan,. Davis and JWP all ahead of him. I'm looking forward to the future with all these young players to come through - i'm sure it reflects on team spirit too to have them all come through together. As long as they're manager well, they could go far.

Prediction: FIRST PREM MANAGER TO GET THE SACK?
SNSUN replied to Glasgow_Saint's topic in The Saints
I'm torn between Di Canio or Hughes. I think Di Canio was a panic appointment at the end of last season and his inexperience in going out and basically signing a whole new team will see him gone. So Di Canio does get my vote. Honorary mention goes to Norwich's Chris Hughton, who's under pressure to deliver results what with the investment they've had in the playing side this summer. -
What is with James Ward-Prowse's step back when he takes a free kick! I saw it on MOTD - very Johnny Wilkinson-esque!
-
Great, unexpected win! A wonderful 3 points to have on the board already - and the first game of the season to boot! Sadly I couldn't watch the game today as I was at a mate's barbecue but I was following it on Twitter and the Beeb. I went mental when Rickie scored the penalty! All in all from what I've heard on here about the players, we're in for a promising season. Let's hope we can bring in the one or two more players we want and push on for the title!
-
Two top centre backs would make for an excellent summer of transfer activity defensively (depending on whether Fox stays or goes - if he goes we need a new LB) but it would mean that either Jos or Jose would be out the door. Hard to choose which of those to let go though...
-
Richard Chaplow in the making. I'd shave it all off, if that were me. Which it's not. Because I'm much better looking. And have more hair.

Great shout! Caught it!

Lambert has pushed us through the leagues and kept us in the Premier League, but did it with decent players around him. MLT shone for his matchwinning ability, outrageous goals and virtually single handedly keeping us in the Premier League for years. MLT was also here his whole career. Lambert will go down in history as a legend, but he's no MLT. MLT everytime.
