Yes, just, because Wigan or Villa will take that last relegation spot. For Saints, 16th is probably the lowest we'll finish with the points tally we have currently, but while the last 3 games suddenly look tough, I can see a point or three in there. 14th or higher would be OK, but it does look like we've blown a top half finish, unless we find that form that saw us beat Liverpool and Chelsea recently.

SAINTS 0-3 West Bromwich Albion // Post-Match Reaction
SNSUN replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Two draws and a loss against mid-table opposition recently is worrying, it shows we're not quite there yet. I can't see where the next point is coming from either, hopefully we'll pick something up against Spurs but with Sunderland and Stoke getting points lately, neither of them will be pushovers. I'm not concerned about going down anymore, I think we're safe enough as it is what with Wigan showing their crapness of late, but finishing 16th for example would be an anticlimactic end to the season, especially from having a top ten spot within our grasp. Well done West Brom. Perhaps it's best for us to forget this one. -
Davis. Seemingly a shoe in for a first team spot under Pochettino and was Rangers captain to boot. Leave Lallana and Rickie to do what they do. That all being said I wouldn't be against Rickie or Morgan getting the captaincy, both would do very good jobs.

My thoughts on Fox are in the build up thread. Today's sending off could be the end of his Southampton career. He's not a Premier League left back, and we shouldn't have to feel nervous about what performance our left back is going to turn in when we read the team sheet. Left back is a spot hopefully Pochettino has an eye on sorting out in the summer - and while Shaw is our future, I wouldn't be against him bringing in a top left back to provide competition for Shaw. It's a long season and Shaw will only be 18 - plenty of time for him and the new left back to get game time, thus not stunting Shaw's development. I thank Fox for a solid nPC season, and wish him well, but I truly hope I don't see him in a Saints shirt next season. All comments are IMO.

Fox looked OK against West Ham and as has been said eventually got to grips with the game last week at Swansea but I'm sorry, I really don't want to see him in a Saints shirt next season. The initial reaction to the news when he plays every week is "oh Lord, where's Shaw?!?" Competent enough to do a job as cover, some people say, but not for me. If we aspire to achieve the next level of football next season and challenge higher up the table, the likes of Fox need to be moved on. There, I said it. Funnily enough earlier in the season some people were saying the same about Jos but recently nobody's batted an eyelid to his inclusion. I'm pleased, because I like Jos since he joined, he gives his all and is good in the air. I feel sorry for Fonte but it's a team game and there are two centre backs better than him at present. Still Saints to win today and move above Fulham and West Ham.

....in your opinion? There's so much choice, especially with the progress humans have made in the last 100 years. What do you think? Here's a list to give you ideas... http://technology.lilithezine.com/101-Inventions.html It's actually very difficult when you think about it. So many good and key inventions, but I think one of the highest nominated things though would be the Internet, connecting the world all over and changing the way we shop (for instance) and entertain ourselves. Discuss... (Mr Jack Daniels' invention is highly rated by myself too.)

The person crazy enough to do it is obviously Boruc, but I reckon Punch has it in him to wrap his chops around somebody. Just by looking at Luis Suarez though, you can see his potential to bite someone, what with those chompers. The same could be said of Big Gnashers Lucke Chadwick. ...or any of these. http://bleacherreport.com/articles/898787-15-freaky-faces-in-world-football#/articles/898787-15-freaky-faces-in-world-football

If we decide to build a new stadium, can we get Dyson Airblades fitted?

A QPR fan I work with doesn't think QPR will get ANY more points this season - he's tipping a Reading win this weekend.

Do urinal cakes make any difference to the experience of weeing at SMS?

Is it me, or have they started putting more hand towel in the bogs? I was relieved that I could dry my hands at half time against West Ham. (And though he wouldn't have known it, the bloke in front of me would have been relieved that his coat didn't come to my rescue.) -
Anything that would bring about a twitch measurable on the Richter scale would be funneh. Although I do think QPR would win. The plastic Reading fans that I have to associate with every week in my normal life have gone very, very quiet lately.

Crap - I found a solitary ticket in Green at the front of the Itchin - the Ticket office were making all the individual seats orange - but by the time it came to pay they'd locked me out the system. Thought I was in luck there. I guess that means no last game of the season for me. You lot are too quick.

They've actually been in good form of late, but unfortunately they've come up against a side that knew they could win the title tonight and with a player at the very top of his game. Villa were my tip for relegation up until a month or two ago but they've impressed me with some good performances with their young players. They have goals in them too, which is good for a side battling relegation. Will they go down? It's tough to tell. Besides Benteke (who will go to a top 6 side or abroad IMO), I'm not sure I'd want any of their players in our Saints side. Agbonlahor's pace could cause problems, but he's quite an inconsistant player. Weimann perhaps, he's scored some corkers this year.

RVP's second had a touch of the Bobby Stokes about it! They've learned from the past. If Morgan and Lambert had combined to score that goal, I'd have needed a new laptop.

That took me three reads before I worked out what was wrong with it! You been drinking Bearsy? FWIW I don't mind Delph as a player, I think he's OK. Not for Saints, butI do think he's improved as the season's gone on. This looks like a right royal tonking but I do think Man Utd will ease off the gas. 3-1 final score would be my guess.

1) At the start of the season our realistic aim was survival, and we've seemingly achieved that with a few games to spare. Some fans consider survival as the minimum we should have been looking for, especially considering our player investment in the summer, so to finish mid-table which is a very real possibility now, is a good season. 2) West Brom were flying earlier in the season with a decent managerial appointment in Clarke and bringing in class players like Yacob and Lukaku. The price of overachievement though is usually apathy with the league position, but West Brom have kept picking up points to maintain that top ten spot. Still with only six points separating us now, a win would close that gap! We're coming for you! ;-) 3)We were all shocked with the Adkins sacking because after a difficult start to the season, he had found his feet in the Premier League and had us picking up points. But there were also questions over his tenure. Still in our eyes, he could do little wrong after achieving back to back promotions, the Championship promotion being largely unexpected. The timing of the sacking brought the most questions, as did the decision to bring in a man who spoke now English who few of us had actually heard of. Now though, three months on, it seems that ruthless decision has been justified. Pochettino has us playing an attacking pressing style which has claimed the scalps of Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea, although we have lost to sides like Newcastle and QPR in that time, but it appears he's changed the way we play against the "hoof" teams, and now knows how better to deal with them. Adkins would have kept us up IMO, but only just. Pochettino has done it with games to spare, and with a few more points from our last few games, we could well finish top ten. 4) I'm not massively knowledgable about West Brom it has to be said, barring your YoYo tag from a couple of years ago. It seems now though that you've banished that tag and have moved on to the next level. We now give that tag to Reading! Oh, and Frank Skinner is a fan, of that I know! 5) Odemwingie has done well for you, and gave us a torrid time towards the end of the last calendar year, but if a player becomes a problem, it is usually better to get rid, no matter how good that player. Was it QPR he wanted to go to? I bet he regrets making that decision now! 6)See above re: Odemwingie, but I also remember you were flying at the time. We wer on a bad run of results too. Fortunately after that game we got our act together and picked up some useful points through November and December. 7)Jay Rodiguez is flying at the moment for us, and you might find it hard to break down the defensive midfield duo of Cork and Schneiderlin, and even if you do you then have to get past our solid keeper Boruc. For you of course Lukaku sticks out with his physical presence. If Chelsea sell him to you in the summer then more fool them and what a signing for you! 8 - As yesterday but perhaps with our young left back Shaw starting the game. 9) I have this down as a Saints win (sorry!) 2-0.

This. I'll add though the recent form of Rodriguez.
-
Villa are much improved lately and Wigan look in big trouble. Their luck runs out, and they get relegated before the last game of the season.
-
A good point. It's a shame the teams behind us are picking up points - relegation isn't a worry anymore with Wigan's defeat today but a few more points would keep us above the chasing pack and would give us a very creditable finishing position. Norwich now one point behind us, and Sunderland are creeping up with their form under Di Canio. I can see us getting 3 points against West Brom next week but the two games after that will be tough. Should finish on 43-44 points I reckon, wherever that would get us.

Players who impressed you in the lower leagues who haven't progressed.

Michail Antonio. Nippy winger with an eye for goal that even Reading didn't want. Will always remember his JPT final goal though. -
You wouldn't be uncomfortable if our season finished now on 38 points and everyone else still had 5/6 games left to play? I know I would. I do think we'll pick up more points as we've been in good form, but a bad run of form can happen at any time. With 90 million quid at stake perhaps I'm more nervous than I should be with our position. Anyway, it's moot now, effectively that's an 8 point gap and I'm happy with that.
-
Avoiding relegation is our number one goal, and Wigan losing tonight gets us a massive step towards that. Sure we should be looking up the table, but if Wigan had won tonight they'd have been four points behind us with a game in hand and that would have been uncomfortable, especially with Sunderland's much improved performance against Newcastle showing the Di Canio effect may have an effect, Stoke who have battling qualities and should never be ruled out, and Villa who have strung together some admirable results of late. We can sleep a lot easier tonight.
-
If the City score stays the same I feel more comfortable with that 7 point gap! Fulham losing, we just need Utd to go and get the winner to give us 11th spot back...

Come on Manchester, clubs below tenth place need both your teams to be your usual brilliant selves...
