Took the nipper along last night and we both enjoyed it. Am I right in thinking that the rules say that 3 games have to be played at SMS? We have Spurs and Man C to come there, to make the 3 up. Is it ever possible to watch at Staplewood? And as an aside, I like the Daily mail's reporting. We don't feature at all. Usually they are keen to follow Utd Reserves, but obviously not when we are involved or maybe it is because we won. They do however have an article on Chelsea U23 vs Liverpool U23, with Chelsea winning 4-1.

This is the bit of football that I really hate. There are various scenarios possibly in play. Utd might well want him, and there have certainly been enough noises in the press to suggest that there is something to them, yet no bid has been made. Are they just ****ing with us and rattling the tree to see what falls so that they can scoop things up on the cheap? Or is it agent play to get the most for a client by trying to call our bluff? Both perfectly understandable but hardly designed to endear themselves towards SFC. Or is there something else going on?

I went to a wedding some years ago where he was a guest, and fair does to him, he got up and sung this.

Pessimists - we are severely weakened and are going to be fighting relegation Realists - as things stand, we have lost a few players and brought others in that on balance have made us weaker than last year Optimists - we are no worse off than last year, and including the transfer of Austin, have replaced all those that left with equally good players. Of course the realists view (as with all of them) is wholly subjective. There is still time to bring people in, and I would just ask (like I mentioned earlier) why wait until the season has started? Of course the obvious answer might be because those players are waiting to see if their club qualifies for CL like we did with VVD. However, that leads to the question of what would happen to our target if his club did progress?? Now there is another point. If you are trying to maintain and grow a fan base, is the selling tactic really the best thing to do? You can see how disillusioned some current supporters are on these boards, and really, they have a very good case. Of course that has been mitigated by the fact that we have done better for the past few seasons, maybe out of luck, maybe out of skill. I think it is objective enough to say that currently this season the two Liverpool clubs, the two from Manchester and the four from London all look stronger than us. Maybe the Champions as well, and no doubt some will also say Stoke and Palace too.

In fairness though, they have always been quiet. I'm holding my council until the window closes, except to say it would have been better to have things done pre-season's start, but I would be "disappointed" if this is it.

Benteke to Crystal Palace, this is becoming very frustrating....

Very true, but wouldn't it be better to have signing in place before the season started? We seem to get the exiters sorted tout de suite and gone as soon as the window is open. -
If you think we need a new striker - which striker do you drop from squad?
angelman replied to sifter's topic in The Saints
Maybe because we don't have another striker? If we signed one, maybe he would then go back to his "traditional" position. However, I am not adverse to managers thinking that players can play in places other than their traditional ones, eg Bale - started off a left back. -
Burnely:Liverpool Possession 20%;80% Shots 2:18 Can't imagine it will stay 2:0

Some of you must surely be happy with the result seeing as so many predicted a 4-0 or 5-0.

not yet, but I seem to be a minute or so behind.

Time for Austin
-
Agree. But how much is that down to us?
-
Redmond & Long. Wouldn't it be better with one of them + Austin?
-
Young player thrown in to anchor the midfield. Guess he will get caught out from time to time.
-
Like Austin??
-
Biggest problem for us so far is that we haven't been able to unleash Shlong.

They look better but we are OK.
