Have we given up with the academy players in favour of just buying in players? Sounds like it and if so, wouldn't it be best to close it down?
-
I look at the transfers we brought in and am happy with them. I also have to think that the transfer policy includes bringing players through from the academy. While I realise Koeman thought that they weren't good enough, do things really change so much from Pochettino's day when we had JWP, Targett, Chambers, Shaw et al coming through? I guess that when they play in the U18/U21/U23 they can individually look a bit ropey due to the lower overall standard, but when in the first XI, they slot in better. If the club think that they can integrate one or more from the development squad into the first XI, then with past experience to hand, that should be acknowledged and viewed in conjunction with the transfers in. If we just buy in players the whole time rather than incorporating our own youth, then what is the point of the academy? Of course they have to be of the required level, as there is also no point bringing them through just because they are from the academy. For me the best season we have had is when we finished 8th with MP. The number of our own players and young ones at that, was brilliant to watch.

Sale of our best two attackers..... But but but....http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?56656-Pelle-Set-to-Leave-For-China-Telegraph&p=2338273#post2338273

Thank **** that is over!

Free agent next year. Can WBA afford not to play him - no idea who they have?
-
I'm not really sure why they are. OK no one likes being a patsy, and Everton very much were in this case. But after all football players and MANAGERS aren't know to keep their word and are happy to jump to whatever they see as greener pastures. Spurs are a much better bet than Everton. Bigger club and all that. London. Champions League. Levy done OK this time, except paying too much, in that he didn't get into a ****îng contest with Everton which would have let NUFC possibly up the price even more. Just let the patsy do all the work and then come in at the 11th hour. Won't endear himself to EFC, but its dog eat dog.

talkSport commentator was somewhat surprised, saying he has done diddly squat for 2 years and bang £30m!
-
Not the disaster people think.
-
Possibly, but I think that if we had 6+ points in the bag, it would be different.
-
Sissoko - seems Spurs are going to gazump Everton. Is he really that good? Is he really worth £30m?
-
Incorrect. We are playing 4 less than planned last year, that is unless you expected the club to not qualify for the group stages of EL last year
-
On balance I think that I have to agree with this.
-
In fact we have 4 fewer games than we planned for last year, as I can't imagine that the club planned to be knocked out after playing 4 qualifying matches.

Seems people now consider Pelle and Juanmi to have been the greatest strikers we've ever had. Then Vic who was not in the right frame of mind for 3 or 4 games and banned for 9. Plus people thinking Boufal isn't going to be any where near Mane - bit premature isn't it?
-
Exactly my point - 1 year left - which would be the same length as getting in a loan for a year. Cuco's wages probably are not that much. Agree too that the £2.5m would be good business. But...getting in a loan. Unknown quantity. Fees involved and maybe, maybe not higher wages. I don't know what loan fees generally are, but if it is anything more than £1m then I would have to question whether it would be worth selling, as that £2.5m doesn't look so good. If it got near £1.5m then really no point.

Slightly contradictory but... The main ones to leave are, and their replacements going by what some say..... Pelle > Austin Mane > Boufal (and I would say the return of JRod) Wanyama > Hojbjerg Juanmi > Redmond Austin hasn't been given a chance really. Boufal of course is unknown and JRod might be pivotal IF he can play like he did. Hojbjerg is probably technically better but of course not the physical presence. Given the choice, who would you have, Wanyama or Hojbjerg? And Redmond, what ever anyone says, is an upgrade on Juanmi. PS - I suspect that if we had 6 or more points in the bag, then people would be saying how wonderful our transfer business had been.
-
How long do you think Martina has left on his contract?
-
What is the point of loaning a RB and letting Cuco go??
-
Would be v. good for B'mouth. Just a case of staying fit.
-
exactly.

Maybe I should have put "interesting" in inverted commas.

Interesting reading what people like Art, Alpine, Batman, Dalek, Glasgow et al trot out.
