  1. If Ancelloti turned down Liverpool, I wonder whether he might not be waiting for Chelsea to ask him back. Mourinho has gone from amusingly arrogant to boorishly arrogant. Very unattractive.
  2. OK fair enough. He was on the list of candidates that were talked to or interviewed. I guess BBC had to slightly blow that up a bit to make a story.
  3. Boruc?
  4. Really a non-story. It was well known that we interviewed more than one person. It exasperated some that we were taking so much time and appeared rudderless but it is normal that more than one person be approached, sounded out, interviewed. RK might well have been number one all along, but what would have happened if he had said "no"? We would have gone to number two. Les always said that there were a few big names on the list. The article is disingenuous as it makes out that CR was offered the job before taking the Greece one. I suspect, but of course don't know, that that wasn't the case as only 1 person actually got the job offer.
  5. I wouldn't get too over excited about the Osvaldo fee. No one knows what it was. It all gets obfuscated with Euros and Sterling (and when we signed him the rate wasn't great and by the time instalments came along it had improved) by 15% or so. Targets obviously weren't met so they wouldn't have kicked in etc. Wages, that's where the real damage came but.... If one goes to http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-southampton/transferrekorde/verein/180 it paints a different picture. No idea how they get their info and a lot of people dismiss them anyway. Some of the press did mention that VVD was our record signing and that is what transfermarkt state as well. VVD @ £10.99 Gaston @ £10.64 Osvaldo @ £10.57 Mané @ £10.50 Long @ £10.43 Not sure I actually go with this, but I suspect that their figures do not include agents' fees and signing on bonuses etc so it comes back to who really knows?? I don't get overly hung up on it.

Sorry, but you've lost me. What are we supposed to believe in?
  7. Nice reply.
  8. Funny how Lambert was treated here with reverence for his holding up of the ball rather than being an out and out striker (PL days), but Pelle does the same and scored a similar amount of goals to SRL. I had a thought/dream at one stage that he was going to get the golden boot and we would finish top four!!!!!!!!
  9. Are players still using blades?
  10. What's the situation in Germany? I chose this at random: http://www.borussia.de/english/tickets.html and they do seem an awful lot cheaper. But here - http://www.hsv.de/fileadmin/redaktion/Tickets/Saison_2015_2016/Einzelspiele/Preislisten/1online.pdf - seems not too much different from over here. Juve - http://www.juventus.com/en/tickets/season-tickets/new-season-tickets-2015-16/index.php - have some cheap and some expensive
  11. What should a ST cost? Mine is £740 odd, but then it isn't in the cheapest area. I would have hoped it be more like £500-550, or £570 max (av of £30 a game).
  12. I think it a taken that the food at a football stadium is complete garbage. But why? It's bloody expensive as it is. I guess I wouldn't mind too much paying over the odds if the food wasn't something fit for my dogs, and I might once in a while buy something. Instead if it is a lunch time game, I'll get off the train and go to the Co-op and get a sandwich. I'd rather give my money to SFC than Co-op but not if they serve dog food. Last season they had a coffee stall outside the ground for one of the games. Was that just a one off or family day thing? As it was, the young girls manning it had no idea how to make a cup of coffee, so I binned it but it would have been nice if they knew what they were doing. And yes, cinemas are even worse.
  13. Is Lallana languid? Or is Collymore using a big word here to add some gravitas to his usual spiel. If someone is languid they would not be playing for a PL team, plain and simple. Anyway - would I take him back? Hmmmm. Ignoring the fee....we have moved on. We bought replacements for him, so we don't need him. I guess the real question that you are asking is whether he could fit back in here. I am pragmatic about things, especially when it concerns football, and realise that footballers chase the dream and rather than try and get that dream with a perfectly good (albeit much smaller) club, they go for the bigger club and the bigger wages. So my head says, if he can offer us something better than we have already then yes, why not? But my heart says he's made his bed so he can lie in it. Now as a supporter (and while I did mention pragmatism, I will contradict myself and say supporters are possibly the least pragmatic section of society) what is football about - what the head says or what the heart says?
  14. It might be a case of who else is there other than Hodgson? There is a desire to go English/British and that doesn't leave a lot of people.
  15. Who gives a stuff about the price of a pie or a cup of tea? You either buy it or you don't. If you don't it's not vital and doesn't impact on the main reason you are there, which is to watch the football. The price of the ticket is the main thing, and everything else is peripheral and not hugely relevant. If you want a pie and think they are too expensive at the ground, buy one before you get to the ground. If the beer is too expensive and too nasty, go to a pub not a football stadium.
  16. I laughed....http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/612099/Newcastle-Gaston-Ramirez-Southampton-Victor-Valdes-Manchester-United-transfer-news
  17. If you can't do it in 7 minutes 30 secs, you have no class and definitely need more practice. But to the OP. Yes it would be nice to have got some acknowledgement, but who from? And then, yes, Saints are corporate. When you have 22,000 season ticket holders and who knows how many members, personalised service isn't going to happen.

Ah ha....I see it's from the Mail. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3270763/Sam-Allardyce-lines-Peter-Reid-new-assistant-manager-Sunderland.html So by my reckoning, we are losing our manager to Holland, and now one of the head coaches.

Maybe Ellis might pay him more.

See on the web that Sunderland might be wanting him as Fat Sam's nº2. He was with him at Bolton, so..... Would that be a great loss if he did go? Would he go?
  21. Any good? Gave up watching it.
  22. Danny Blind looks likea young Martin McGuninness
  23. VVD off - at least he is one piece.
  24. surprised VVD wasn't subbed. Don't want him to do too badly as it might affect his confidence.
  25. Pelle ****s up again (should have 2 by now)
