Yes, we have to be pragmatic about things. We, like the clubs you mention, are feeders for the richer clubs. But what I find sad and depressing is the situation that there is now between the haves and have nots. Sure, while it always existed, the gap is getting bigger and bigger. And yes, I realise that in the scheme of things, we are currently pretty high up the ladder but it seems nigh on impossible to get any higher. Look at Spurs for example. Their turnover is something like 3 times ours and yet they cannot compete with the big boys. One might even say Liverpool can't either. So, a big well done to the authorities who have created a situation where the same few clubs populate the Champions League (for that is what it is all about), getting richer and richer, cementing their place in the pecking order and leaving everyone else behind. What they don't realise is that people are getting bored of CL with the same teams playing each other year in year out, with the rare blip.

So as far as I see it... Pellè Long - injured (weeks) Rodriguez - injured (???) Gallagher - injured (almost back) Mayuka Seager Gallagher is an interesting one. Certainly being off games for so long, it will take him a good while to get up to speed. I wasn't bowled over by him last season, but the club obviously like him and gave him a contract. Mayuka - well, one might wait for ever and a day for him to come good. Which leaves Seager. I thought he had some nice touches but.....we find ourselves in a position where I am not sure that we can afford to blood him in gently. If we were looking like a 7th-10th spot finish was all we could get, then fine, that would be perfect.

What actually do Man Utd do to benefit the world of football? They seem to have stopped producing their own players and instead just wave the cheque book. Sure they are the biggest club in the country, but they really don't advance football in general in this country. Guess that is a little naive and it's a dog eat dog world out there, but it's sad to have lived through football dying as a sport and morphing into a business first and foremost, where not even the supporters are particularly relevant other than to be fleeced of as much money as possible. I liked the way we priced the FA Cup this season. 2 years ago when we got done over by Chelsea I seem to recall tickets were £45 to watch a 2nd XI side. Maybe I should be more pragmatic about all of football rather than just parts of it.

Utd put out a pretty ****ing strong side to play against Cambs.

Not wanting to be rude, buy hardly news. My distaste for football and the money involved has temporarily been quashed by RK but I feel it coming back with a vengeance.

Not sure how it works, but think clubs take signing on fee and wages as a package. Say JC is realistically a £4m signing on £40k, clubs might as well sign him on a free, pay £40k PW and £3m and effectively still be £1m ahead. That £3m on a typical 4 year contract is £750k a year or about £15k a week, or the equiv of a free transfer and £55k a week pay - if that makes any sense!
-
Average PL was was £31k a week. I know that there are some on £300k but still, it's above average.

Was in the 2nd to front row of the Matthew Harding Stand (lower) when we got beaten 1-0. Had to stand up and pretend to be happy!!

@alancorky has been very quiet over the contract!!

Prof, maybe if we had excess capacity, then neutrals could be better catered for. As we don't, then isn't it sensible that home/away supporters are catered for first?

Problem with social media is that it leaves a big footprint sometimes. Anyway, I feel a little bad with the not very friendly welcome if it came across like that, so if it did, my apologies. I guess it's a game that we all want to put one over our ex manager and we (well I do) dislike Spurs, and always have. And when the first post on the board is about getting a ticket from someone not from Soton.......

OK, you may be a Hibs fan, but https://twitter.com/RMcCracken91/status/233504295419527168/photo/1 And why as a Hibs fan do you want to go to the home end? Is it just because of ticket allocations? If you want a ticket, I would suggest trying Ticketmaster or some other reseller.

Gary, as Saint-Fred said, go to your own ticket office.

Those balls are ridiculous, especially when the wind blew them backwards. Was that Arsenal? And the one before vs Chelsea, WTF was going on there?

It would be amusing. Maybe we could sell him to them rather than loan.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2920806/Dani-Osvaldo-offered-QPR-Southampton-outcast-goes-AWOL-loan-spell-Inter-Milan.html The Mail is running with the QPR bit. Interesting that they won't allow comments, because I guess they realise that it is complete bull**** and that people would tell them so. If he thought we were too small for his mercurial talents, I'm not sure that he will agree to sign up for a relegation dog fight in a 2nd stadium, with a 3rd rate manager and let's not mention their training ground.

But Milan are so this season (maybe, in a WTF sort of way!). http://www.givemesport.com/540073-ac-milan-could-rescue-dani-osvaldo-from-inter-nightmare?autoplay=on http://talksport.com/football/southampton-outcast-lined-switch-ac-milan-150121133282

http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/01/21/report-qpr-considering-loan-move-for-dani-osvaldo/ It would seemingly be a loan so he wouldn't be able to play against us.
-
http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/01/21/southampton-outcast-dani-osvaldo-missing-for-48-hours/ Well discounting us as a top PL club, he is truly mad if he thinks anyone would take him.

Who in the media isn't?
