  1. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2894377/Saint-Valentine-Football-fan-lands-date-unreal-looking-fellow-supporter-Southampton-FC-leave-rose-Bovril-voucher-her.html Daily Mail on it now. Surprised Ashton didn't write it, as that's about his level. Some of the comments - strewth there are some miserable buggers out there.
  2. Never thought that his kicking has ever been in question. The weakness is getting down quick enough for those shots close in to his body. Something that is no doubt quite hard for someone who is 6'7" but he seems to be getting better.
  3. Not sure you are right. If we play a 5-3-2/3-5-2 bit with 3 centre backs, he isn't cover/back up.
  4. Nice touch from Lineker on MOTD while going through the table. Mentions 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th and 6th and then goes on to the bottom.

  6. http://www1.skysports.com/football/live/match/313583 Check out the most sycophantic interview I have ever seen in connection with football (the Wenger one)
  7. why people put any store in these predictions is anyone's guess. we were relegation favourites, then CL, then mid-table, now god knows what. I just watch the game and don't pretend to be a know all predicting what the outcome will be.
  8. Hooliganism rather than people being crushed.
  9. Absolutely. Would love to see Saints rocking like they do in, say, Turkey. I've been going to Saints games for nigh on 40 years and maybe it is for others to be vociferous now. But I do think that times have changed with the demise of terraces, not that we were ever like Besiktas. From a personal point of view, I now a days take my little boy who tells me off for swearing or my old man who has dementia. I'm in the middle of the Kingsland and my nipper looks at me in a funny way when I'm the only one around us singing (very badly I might add, so that's what he might be looking at me for). Me and my neighbour have a running "joke" about how long it takes for the anti-Pompey chants to start. One game this season it took 76 minutes, but vs Chelsea it was the more standard and started off after 1 min 35. Yes SMS can be quiet, but it seems no different from any other home support in this country. I think if we could bring back the terraces, then things would change a bit. But to be honest I can't see that happening any time soon. The authorities use the excuse of safety but I suspect it is more to do with crowd control. The game I enjoyed most recently, was the away game in 2011 at Yeovil (not that I go to too many away games) because we were stood on the open terrace (being rained on). Back to how footie used to be.
  10. Back of block 30-33 they took out the back 5 rows or so, to put in a journo part and expand the TV gantry. Reckon that that must have taken out 300-500 seats.
  11. The other aspect that seems to be somewhat complicated is compensation when coming from elite academies. I have no idea how it works but guess that that is small beer compared to a Shaw like deal. Don't get me wrong, as someone intimated, I am proud of our academy. I see Bale, while cashing in the sell on clause, he more than many others, is still giving us benefit as we, rather than Spurs, get the credit for him. Maybe IF Odegaard did come here, then the real value we would gain might not be with him, but in attracting future talent who hang around longer. Certainly the model that we have where we are happy to bring kids the whole way through seems to be working and long may it carry on.
  12. Of course it's not legally binding.

  14. That's not what I am saying. IF we did sign him, we train him up for a couple of years and then what? He hits 18 and he either signs a pro contract, which is good for us, or he doesn't, which is good for someone else. He knows his future is at the top, so we might just be preparing him for someone else with no reward for the effort save for the caché of being more appealing for youngsters than other clubs. Everyone seems to think that we will be making billions out of him, but if he doesn't sign a pro contract, then that won't happen.
  15. You don't have post some bóllocks
  16. Had to get some non-Chelsea in. There were 6 in there - would look a little silly if they had 9 or 10.
  17. A rather over zealous steward told me to sit down at the Chelsea game, when I was perched on the lip of the seat when in it's upright position. I pointed out that the person in front was standing up and that there was no one behind me. I didn't point out that there were at least 3000 Chelsea supporters standing up. So it seems that the stewards are too pathetic to take on 3000 away supporters but happy to pick on handfuls of home supporters.
  18. Maybe a bit of this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ki2YD_vgu6s
  19. €35k for a TV? Must be a ****ing big one!!! But really, he is cover for Mané while he is at the ACN, so Piggy (welcome BTW, nice to have more Europeans here after the Feyenoord lot) you might be getting him back, so hope you don't spend the €5m too soon. But let's see....as you say, he has the talent and as he says, it's time to prove his detractors wrong. The press here have likened him to Balotelli, who seems incapable of proving his detractors wrong, but let's hope he is different.
  20. Definitely B'mouth. We are southerners and there are far too many northerners in the PL. I know a lot will disagree, but anything north of Winchester is north to me, although some might stretch that to Basingstoke. Another reason I would like them to come up is that I was born in Boscombe. Don't care about any others.
  21. Very quiet at Anfield.
  22. This huge transfer fee rather hinges on him signing a pro-contract at 18 doesn't it.
  23. If you'd met her, you'd know. Am I right in thinking that you saw the use of the word "bimbo" as misogynistic, when it was just about one person?
  24. So, if he did come here, what would we gain from it? We'd train him up until he sees fit to move on to bigger teams, where he obviously thinks he will end up, and given the raves about him, no doubt he will.
