I know a full back when I see one. Stephens isn't it. he's not even a very good defender. Time after time he loses concentration and it costs us. I don't think you can have watched the game. He is stood inside our penalty area watching the ball and doesn't even see Salah on the outside. The ball is played to Salah who has all the time in the world to look up and pick his spot. Stephens does nothing to put him off. The whole point of a full back is to try to cut out the crosses. Stephens might just as well not have been on the pitch. Yet you try to make excuses for him saying that he is out of position and not very good. Pathetic. If he is playing in that position he should at least put a shift in. He went walkabout at other times in the game too. Watch him for their second goal. It's comical the way that he flings himself to the ground as the ball flashes way past him.

I find him frustrating because he gets into the right situations but then loses all composure and subtlety, unlike Minamino who knows what to do when he gets there. It’s just that for all other aspects Che is a better asset.

What’s wrong with these youngsters that they have to keep changing everything all the time? I like the current crest, compared with all the others it has some style. Besides, I have a lucky Saints key ring that my daughter gave me when I first started taking her to games over thirty years ago. I clip it onto my trousers belt and take it to every game and if things get a bit sticky I reach down and give it a quick rub. If the players ever ran out and saw that I wasn’t wearing my lucky key ring there’s no telling how badly they would play. I say ‘lucky’ but so far it’s not been much help but it must come good some day.
