Thanks. When I looked in late on Wednesday the catchup was not available. As I said earlier, the Virgin implementation that I was using did not provide for video scanning or pausing so I shall have to try another route. The picture quality also was not what I have become accustomed to. Edit: If I tune in halfway through a live game can I start at the beginning of the match, does anyone know?

A couple of points: Just how would you choose a head of state and just think about who you might get as President How does 'President Abbott' sound? Or President Prescott? or... Elections to choose a president would cost more that the monarch does so at the moment we actually have the cheap option

Thanks. My app is in the Virgin TiVo box and doesn’t offer these options at the bottom. I have the full choice at the top of the screen. I shall have a go at the Firestick. I still can’t see how to ‘record’ (download) so that I can catch up on events later. Catch-up isn’t as versatile.

You reading of Long’s actions is spot on. Have a look at it again and watch Long’s feet. There’s a delay between him feeling the touch on his back and him the leaping forward with both feet leaving the ground. Yes, he’s more concerned about winning the foul than winning the ball. It goes on all the time.

I agree. We were central Kingsland and right behind the run of Pukki wondering which side he was going to put it. There wasn’t much of a gap at the near post but it was past McCarthy before he knew it.

Eh? Long was standing on the ground when this incident happened. Don’t be fooled by the commentators. The defender touches Long on the shoulders with both hands but doesn’t push him. His hands don’t move any farther forward than where they started, Long is waiting for the push and feels the touch but the rest is just embarrassing.

It wasn’t a foul. There are many such incidents during a game and just because someone flings themselves to the ground doesn’t mean that they were shoved there. These players practise ‘being fouled’ and trying to make it look natural.

I agree. I also hate this Premier League business of walking out and shaking hands. Much better when they used to run out onto the pitch kicking some footballs in front of them.

Holes in defence are rarely the fault of just one player.

I thought that was Alan Shearer?

We don’t know whether he is following Ralph’s game plan or doing all off his own volition. If the latter then we would expect Ralph to convince him otherwise.

I’m trying to watch the Arsenal game at the moment and I’m not impressed. I’m using the built-in app in the TiVo V6 box. The picture quality is not that great and the sound ambience is very thin. You don’t feel like your part of the crowd. It reminds me somewhat of the time we were invited to watch a game at White Hart Lane from a six seater box. We were sealed behind glass and listening to the sound through the TV on the wall. It was like watching a game through a window. The other problem is that I can’t find a way to pause, rewind or record the programme.

The last report that I can find for him from about ten years ago has him living in Cyprus but also owning a place in Spain.

VAR can never judge the intensity of a push. It really was very feeble, little more than a touch and not enough to send Long sprawling the way that he did. He possibly might have got a penalty for it but it would have needed to be more definite. VAR is used in every Premier League game this season and that incident would have been examined.

I'm sorry I can't help you. I ended my suffering by sticking my fingers in my ears.

Liverpool are unwatchable now. I can only hope that some European team will give them a tonking without the help from British coverage and officials.
-
Not for me. Stephens was back in line with the others but mentally not quite sharp enough to pick up the run of Pukki. (run of Pukki sounds like a nasty medical condition)

Long is a far more effective player than Obafemi. His running last night was a factor in our constant pressing them back, especially in the first half. With long in the team we have the option of dropping the ball over the heads of their defenders and making them turn back towards their own goal. The ball tends to stick with Long better than Obafemi which gives time for the rst of our team to get upfield. I would much rather have Long than Obafemi.

Thanks. Cedric was back in his rightful place for their goal but he had two players to cover and Stephens was too central which left a gap between them. yes, I liked the look of him. Nice touch and good running but by that time we were playing more cautiously. Two hands in the back but nowhere near enough to send Long sprawling the way that he did. A light touch that I wouldn't describe as a shove. The slight delay between the touch and the leap is a good indication. That worried me too. Suddenly we are all back on the edge of our penalty area invited them to attack. It was a very cold night with rail strikes meaning that the last train was at 10pm apparently. I will always stay to the end but I can understand those that can't.

Of course that's 45 points over 38 games spread over two seasons but as an indication it compares to 46 points under Puel which gave us 8th place. I would argue that the football has been more exciting and watchable under Ralph.
-
I don’t think that Cedric was as bad as some have stated. For their goal he was covering a player on their left wing and Stephens was too far towards the centre leaving a gap between them. Pukki just belted through it and a simple straight ball played him in on goal. We were overloaded on that side of the pitch due to a quick breakdown of our attack. I haven’t analysed it more thoroughly yet but I suspect that someone on the right of midfield was missing.

Yeah, we had a few around us even in the central Kingsland. Wasn’t too cold though. I had my thermals on and a thick jumper but because it was a calm night I didn’t feel the cold. When my wife has finished watching the Deadliest Catch I’ll try the highlights again.
-
We were sitting right behind the shot and there was a only very tight gap between McCarthy and his near post. Pukki is a very good goalscorer and he was in control here.

Had a good game tonight. Won some headers and didn’t make any obvious mistakes. I have seen a replay of their goal yet so I don’t know who to blame at this stage
