  1. From the BBC: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-52193461 “Another difficult question would be the letters of last resort that the prime minister writes for the nuclear submarines, giving the commanding officers instructions about what to do in the event of a deadly attack on the PM.“ This must count as a ‘deadly attack on the PM’ so where do they aim the missiles?
  2. Very true. The daily briefings will be all about the health of one man rather than the health of the whole nation.
  3. I read this on another forum from somebody who seems to know what he is talking about. “As I said, some/many/most cases aren’t ARDS. ARDS has to do with pulmonary muscle fatigue, like a tired swimmer who can’t take another stroke. A goodly number of Covid patients don’t even realize they’re low on oxygen. They’re chatting with doctors, even as the O2 sats are 70%. They don’t have ARDS, yet they’re put on the ventilator with the pressure turned up. This is damaging lungs which are working well, and CAUSING unnecessary mortality. What these patients need is oxygen, not breathing help.“
  4. Apparently not but he’s never looked healthy.
  5. 50/50 at best.
  6. He’s been overdoing things. He has still been working on his red boxes through this illness. All very noble but he should have stood back from the front line.
  7. Me too. I don’t like him but he doesn’t deserve this.
  8. "Just soya dumplings" They don't write them like that any more
  9. Most of the government, apparently.
  10. I have looked again at the government's guidelines for workers and it seems that it is ok to work in someone's home provided that nobody has any symptoms. I'm not sure how maintaining a two metre separation would have worked in poor Kyle's case though. 4. Going to work Work carried out in people’s homes, for example by tradespeople carrying out repairs and maintenance, can continue, provided that the tradesperson is well and has no symptoms. Again, it will be important to ensure that Public Health England guidelines, including maintaining a 2 metre distance from any household occupants, are followed to ensure everyone’s safety.
  11. Let's be honest, exercising outside or not is not going to make any difference to the overall number of infections. We can reduce ur opportunities for infection as low as possible but going on like thios for two months is going to leave a country that won't be worth living in. Edit: I'm all for giving it a go for three or four weeks but I think there has to be some sign of its effectiveness before the end of the month.

  13. Bad for his health. Especially if the neighbours hear him
  14. Why not? If people are spending longer at home you would expect there to be proportionately more accidents and indeed deaths. If these 6000 who died at home had been forced to stay away from it they wouldn’t have died at home
  15. Who do we have whose contracts expire in June? How would we replace them?
  16. Fresh air is equally important.
  17. What if... the busker is at his regular place of work?
  18. “In the UK every year, almost 6,000 people die in home accidents and 2.7million visit their local accident and emergency departments seeking help.“ https://www.rospa.com/Home-Safety/UK/Scotland/Research/Statistics
  19. Exercising is all well and good and desirable. Sunbathing and playing guitars is obviously not but I don’t see much of that going on near me. But you’re right, the actions of a few will queer the pitch for the rest of us.
  20. Like any other affected business these clubs have been forced to stop operating by government decree. Whether it be Liverpool of Mrs Miggins Pies they qualify for government support. What sticks in the throat is that these clubs are filthy rich and throw money around like confetti.
  21. Joe Lewis lives in the Bahamas and owns over twice as many shares in ENIC as Levy and his family. He is more than filthy rich.
  22. But if you have already developed heart disease exercise is essential to some sort of recovery.
  23. Long shots foreshortened through a telephoto lens. Hardly a large social gathering.
  24. Oh yes. When I was in hospital for 13 nights my muscles had wasted away. Regular exercise and fresh air and sunshine are vitally important.
  25. Jamie Carragher as reported in The Sunday Times. “Former defender Jamie Carragher said the club had lost “respect” by implementing the move which affects non-playing staff, believed to be around 200 people, although the club has said they will ensure that employees are paid 100 per cent of their salaries“ In February, Liverpool announced profits of £42 million (£33 million after tax) for the year ending May 2019, while turnover increased by £78 million to £533 million. The club also spent £43.8 million on agents’ fees between February 2018 and the end of January 2019. Carragher was among the first to criticise the decision, which feels both premature and at odds with what Liverpool purportedly stand for. “Jürgen Klopp showed compassion for all at the start of this pandemic, senior players heavily involved in @premierleague players taking wage cuts,” he tweeted. “Then all that respect & goodwill is lost, poor this @LFC.”
