  1. Lead the charge? I was one of them but by no means the leader. I was of the view that European football should not have had an effect on our domestic performance. I will make no judgment on this season's performances until I have actually been to a game. I would have expected the first 10 to 20 games to have been a learning process for a new manager. Getting back to the thread, it's football as a whole that seems to have lost its passion. Pewrhaps I should go along to some lower division games.
  2. You can say that again! For various reasons I have not been able to attend any of our games yet this season despite forking out for two season tickets. I am also going to miss another four home games before March due to othe commitments. My frandson goes but that's not really why I bought the tickets. Strangely enough, I don't miss going to the games yet. I had recorded all the MOTD programmes but when I got home couldn't be bothered to watch them. Is it the crap football that's being played these days?
  3. After fee and wages we are only looking at another squad player. Prices these days are ridiculous.
  4. Thanks for sharing that, it brought tears to my eyes. It's sad to realise that players like him are very rare in the overpaid, overhyped world of Premier League. A proper footballer.
  5. Indeed he should. At a Q&A I once asked Strachan what he thought of the transfer window. He said that he agreed with it because it allowed him to get on with coaching. If a player was spouting off about how good he was then he would say "ok then, knuckle down and we'll see who comes in for you in the next transfer window". If VVD wants a dream move away then he needs to produce the form over the next few months to earn it. Then we can grab the money and buy somebody who gives a sh!t.
  6. Wrong person. You're thinking of D!ck Van Dyke.
  7. I agree with the sentiment but I don't think that a fine would make any difference. He'd just add it to his transfer fee.
  8. Ah, happy days. I can't watch any more, I seem to have something in my eyes.
  9. After a long injury lay-off it takes 10 to 15 games to get back into the right frame of mind. Some players never get back to what they were.
  10. There's a lot of truth in that. What ever happened to one-touch football?
  11. I cannot add any more to what has already been written. One of the Greatest Ever Saints and I'd like to think that in some small way we helped him to become the wonderful player that he was.
  12. Up to three posts a day?
  13. Not restricted to just one person, unfortunately.
  14. Nah, both tyres were knackered. My Mercedes one had been driven flat for a couple of hundred yards and the inside was shredded and my wife's puncture was right on the shoulder. A repair wouldn't have lasted two minutes.
  15. Who's the pilot, Fabrice Fernandez?
  16. For a bet George Best once played a whole game using only his left foot. And he scored with it.
  17. It wouldn't be £70million up front.
  18. This (I'd prefer £80m )
  19. The contract of sale would be separate from the player's contract of employment.
  20. A paper profit's not a profit until it's banked. If the offer is high enough we should grab it and run away laughing. Who knows, he might never reach his previous standard.
  21. So we had a bad season last year? I blame Puel
  22. One game doesn't make an exciting season.
  23. Care to elaborate? You haven't got the slightest idea about life in the fifties.
  24. Knuckle down and work hard and they might just earn it. Everybody started off poor.
