  1. I was going by the usual lists of ‘World’s most dangerous airports but I value your opinion much more highly than those. It looked to me like a severe case of over-correction.
  2. 'Relatively calm skies'? Gibraltar is notorious for having difficult winds and is considered by some to be the most dangerous airport in Europe. Something to do with the wind coming down off The Rock.
  3. Nah, I don’t agree. Stephens is not one accident waiting to happen, he’s a hatful of them. For the first goal he sloppily lost possession and instead of belting back as fast as his legs could carry him he lopes back at half pace, may have given a penalty away and is a spectator for Lacazette’s goal. For the second he panicked and dithered and gave Gunn an awful pass to deal with. This is the same Stephens who gave away a penalty at Burnley and under no pressure at all passed the ball straight to a Cardiff player deep into injury time. He’s just not good enough.
  4. He has li-ability
  5. [duplicate post]
  6. How much wider? I would prefer him sitting in the coach in the car park. Won’t head the ball, can’t pass reliably, doesn’t mark anybody and stick to them. Why does anybody pick him to play?
  7. Are you sure they were actually in the van at the time? If they were off taking a leak somewhere it might explain the three minutes delay.
  8. Yep, absolute joke, but that’s the problem with slow-motion replays. It makes it look as though the defender had enough time to move his arm out of the way. It took an age to come to a decision too. If it takes that long then there is enough doubt and the original decision should stand.
  9. I'm sorry to disillusion you but it's not "our club". If you think you could do better then you're welcome to buy it.
  10. I’m in. I’ve got a walking stick somewhere that I can wave and probably some full tins of Horlick that I can throw.
  11. Baird was ball-watching. He tok his attention off his man and Arsenal just skipped past him.
  12. Three instalments of £5m each. From The Times today: "Cardiff insist that they are willing to meet their financial obligations to Nantes but their primary concern is to establish what happened and to support Sala’s family. His mother, sister and brother are in Nantes at present, although his sister travelled to Cardiff last week to meet club officials and collect some personal belongings. Cardiff’s first payment was due seven days after completing the signing — January 26 — and after it had not been received last week Nantes took action. An email request on Thursday was followed by a formal legal letter this week and, with Cardiff insisting that they are not ready to deal with financial matters before a body has been found and a funeral taken place, the dispute is likely to continue. Cardiff are believed to have obtained insurance for Sala on completing his signing before confirming their liability for the transfer fee by lodging his registration with the FA of Wales on January 21, the day of his flight. The club have an insurance policy of £16 million per player, which would cover the fee for their record signing, but not all of his £2.5 million salary over three and a half years, some of which is likely to be paid to his family. Bordeaux are entitled to a 50 per cent cut of the fee because Sala was on their books from 2012 to 2015, but the club have denied reports that they have asked Nantes for the money."
  13. Yes but was at fault for their goal.
  14. Trade agreements tkae typically 7 years as a minimum to negotiate and members of the EU cannot negotiate their own trade agreements therefore we have to leave before we can begin negotiating. Unofficial talks can take place but these are as good as worthless. You are right that Article 50 should never have been invoked until we were all agreed what we wanted and where we wanted to be. Whether the new EU anti money-laundering directives have any bearing on the rush to leave is open to debate.
  15. I watched the game on TV and Newport didn't seem to have any trouble playing football.
  16. I was working at Plesseys in Havant at the time of that crash and the Flight Data Recorder Lab was next to ours. One of the engineers from there showed us a plot of the data. It wasn't very wide and could be laid on a desk. He showed us where the stall started when the leading-edge droop had been retracted followed by the stick shaker pushing the nose down and the aircraft recovering. Then that was overriden and the nose was pulled up causing another stall. The stick shaker then pushed the nose down again and the aircraft started to recover. This was overriden again and the nose was pulled up and the aircraft was doomed. I must be some sort of masochist but I am an avid follower of Air Crash Investigation on TV. I don't know why, maybe I am trying to store up something in case it ever becomes useful. The failure analysis in itself is a fascinating subject, it's just that it's a shame that people have to die in order to make this form of travel safer. A common feature of these incidents where a stall is involved seems to be that the pilot instinctively pulls the nose up thus making the situation worse. Let's hope that Sala and Ibbotson can be found soon although it's poor comfort for the families.
  17. I'm afraid he isn't, and that is the tragedy. This £39bn (or thereabouts) is money that we are due to pay or have agreed to pay. This is politics here, not international law. If you think that we can walk away without settling up what the 'other side' thinks is due to them then I suggest you try that at your local restaurant and see if you ever eat there again. We shall have to pay this money and pay it we shall one way or another. if we don't pay it directly then we shall pay it through tariffs or embargoes. And don't expect any preferential trade deals soon with any other countries. Besides, the longer we stay in the Single Market then the longer we shall benefit from the extra tax revenues that arise from it. These are usually put at around £20bn a year which should cover several years of paying down the £39bn or so.
  18. Would that be 9 goals in 83 games then? If so then it's not as bad as we thought
  19. I think we can all applaud that decision.
  20. Zaha prevented JWP from taking a throw-in and could have been booked for that alone. I thought that JWP handled the situation masterfully.
  21. It got so bad that at one stage the whole of the Kingsland were on their feet shouting at the players to pass the ball to him.
  22. The passes that he completed were the five yard ones to his left or to his right. Whenever he tried to play it any further he passed it to the opposition.
  23. The pilot, Ibbotson, was 59
  24. I came across this link on another blog. https://aviation-safety.net/wikibase/wiki.php?id=220997
  25. As I once read somewhere: "Don't run out of altitude, speed and ideas all at the same time"
