On the one hand we are told that players need to play games in order to get match-fit. Then we are told that they aren't up to playing lots of games. When there are a lot of games io a row then it's even more essential that you keep a settled side, especially the defence.

His fault was to get there just before Jones who had his leg extended with his studs showing. You could argue that it should have been a yellow card for Jones.

It's the rotation that is killing us, not the schedule per se. It's one thing to rotate some of your strike force but to regularly change three of your back four is just crazy.

It wouldn't matter who we signed if they're under strict instructions never to get into the opposition's penalty area. Against WBA I lost count of the times that the ball was put into the box against seven defenders (plus goalkeeper) and there was no Saints' player anywhere near them. I've watched a few games over the last couple of days and in a typical attack there are usually three or four in the opponents' box.

Unfortunately we don't play in France.

It's not a matter of the quality of the players, it's the style of play. There are plenty of teams in much lower divisions who play with more spirit, verve and cohesion than I have seen all season.
