  1. His performance can only be described as bizarre.
  2. That would be the Liverpool fans.
  3. Good point. So basically if they score then we need to score too, and not let them get ahead by more than one goal.
  4. Away goal? A draw will see us through or a loss by not more than one goal.
  5. You actually enjoyed that?
  6. Or just to make your fanbase think you're going to do something without actually expecting to hand over any money?
  7. It was ever thus so. I remember a Danny Baker phone in many decades ago when Wimbledon (?) were fined for putting out a team of reserves in a cup game. The caller pointed out that when Manchester United do it they're sending out a reserve team full of internationals and they never got fined for it.
  8. Thanks Duncan, at least there's one person who can see me smiling as I write. Personally I have nothing against M. Puel himself, it's just that I think he is taking a lot longer to adjust to England and English football than I would have expected. I would dearly love to have a conversation with him over a glass of wine or two and discuss his philosophy of how football should be played.
  9. Away fans?
  10. At least if we beat Arsenal (after Norwich) we won't have to face them in a later round
  11. Norwich v Arsenal ???
  12. Not true. I don't agree with it because overall we end up with poorer results and dire football.
  13. Quite so, especially as most of a footballer's week is spent at the training centre and not at the home stadium.
  14. Maybe it's the latest English word that he's only just learnt.
  15. Koeman left for more money and there's nothing wrong with that. Any talk about more ambition or better prospects is just trying to cover up his greed, personal ambition, cupidity or call it what you will is and attempting to put a less unseemly gloss on it.
  16. He wants us to pick it out of our net more???
  17. You will never get a local group of STs to get another group of tickets in another part of the ground, it's not practicable especially as the club sell tickets randomly. Then there are those who have been caught out before where the club release the tickets on a stand by stand basis, the Kingsland being the last. If they buy a seat elsewhere they then firn that 'their' seat has been sold to some Johnny-come-lately. We could have sold out the Sunderland game but you can't sell tickets for a stand that has been closed. This is a straightforward business matter. This is a professional club that makes money by asking customers to pay to see the team perform and they are not going to do that by closing a large part of the ground.
  18. I think I could manage that even at my age. Just lay it out on the ground and I'm sure I could give it my best shot.
  19. I think that is the very definition of 'growing up'
  20. I have discussed it with them previously and received these separate replies: "We apologise for any upset caused by the Kingsland stand not being open for this fixture. The decision was made based on the attendance on that previous cup round vs Crystal Palace. Due to this attendance it was not viable for us to open this stand, as we would need more staff, for security reasons and financial. As always we never intend to upset or cause frustration to our Supporters as their attendance and ongoing Support is what our club thrives on." and... "The chapel was opened prior to Kingsland as this is a smaller stand and makes sense to open this first. The Itchen stand is and always will be opened fist as this is at the front of the stadium and in direct link to the Ticket Office staff so that if there were for any reason any issue we are able to access Supporters a lot quicker. This is also due to the Players entering the pitch via the dugout which is also on the Itchen side." For the Sunderland game we reached the situation where the ground (ex Kingsland) was very nearly sold out a couple of days before the match I don't know what would have happened had there been a large walkup crowd on the evening itself. Subsequent press reports referred to Saints' fans showing little interest in the game because we only sold 21,460 tickets. https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/2057229/southampton-vs-sunderland-empty-stand-at-the-efl-cup-clash-shows-that-maybe-fans-stayed-at-home-to-watch-great-british-bake-off-final/
  21. Oh please do grow up. I suppose that's your answer to everything?" There are starving children in Biafra so eat up all your sprouts".
  22. Look, if you don't agree that's fine by me but just say so. I state my point of view, you state yours. You might not think the same way but there are plenty of others who do. Part of the matchday experience is the social side of it, the opportunity to sit with the same group and discuss the match, the team and other aspects of life in general. There is a group where I sit who were all sitting together in the Upper East Stand at The Dell. I stand by wht I wrote. Even Roy Keane understands as much when he was talking about Tottenham playing at Wembley and West ham adjusting to their new home.
  23. Try saying it the way that Bernard Matthews might. Mind you, he was talking about turkeys.
  24. 'Southampton aren’t winners, and Ronald Koeman is a winner.' Not with us he wasn't. If success is just anbout spending money then any fool could achieve it. There are plenty on here who could give it a go.
