I think it will take a few more games before that happens because all the teams below us would need to pick up several points, but lose the next four and they'll be snapping at our heels. This sums it up for me. We need a serious change of attitude throughout the club and it's always possible that this might come from Puel if he ever settles down. If he doesn't learn and change then I'm dreading having to watch much more of this awful football that we play most of the time.

I don't have an agenda. The free kick was deflected. Most keepers would have had a problem with it. Are you saying that the correct place to stand is not where you expect the ball to go but where you expect it to be deflected to? The real question is why it went through the wall at all.

Meh, just seen the highlights, such as they were. I can't see how anybody can blame Forster for that goal, there was enough of a deflection to put the shot past him but the wall could have been more solid. Apart from that they didn't show any clear-cut chances for us and even at the end when Sims cut the ball back there were five defenders in the box and only a couple of Saints players out on the fringes. Not hungry enough.

That's even worse. No time on the training pitch to develop partnerships and no time in real matches.

I freely admit that I haven't seen today's game yet and from what you say we seem to have been 'unlucky' again but we can't have been unlucky all season. What I have seen so far is a reluctance to load the box with attackers compared with other teams. I look forward to seeing the highlights soon. The constant rotation of players also means that we shall never build up sharpness or consistency. Why didn't J-Rod start?

I didn't go to the match, of course. What sort of distance were these twenty shots taken from? Statistics like this mean nothing in isolation.

Absolutely true. There's no point in having another striker if we only ever play one up front.

Surely the key here is the Fonte situation. As he is one of the highest paid players offloading him would free up a significant lump of budget.

Yeah, terrible view from there. I had the added problem of the glare from the lower floodlights at the other end. They're so far away that they're at a very shallow angle. Across the pitch from my higher seats they are not good but nowhere bad as these were.
