  1. "Timed his run to perfection" Not a phrase but anything that ends -esque especially 'Beckhamesque'.
  2. That was fabulous. Moments like that restore my love of football.
  3. Repeating it is even more childish. Such comments belong in the playground. I'm very disappointed in you.
  4. That is a very childish expression.
  5. Good. Now you're beginning to understand we'll get you thinking like a Continental eventually.
  6. The commissioners have no power. Everything is controlled by the Council of Ministers. All this talk about 'ever closer union' is just more of the empty rhetoric. It sounds good and they all like to pretend that they support it but everybody knows that in actuality it isn't going to happen. They are just playing the game but the English take every word literally.
  7. Where does it all end. You could say that those who take part in dangerous sports should pay for any consequential medical treatment, for example.
  8. Now we know where all our transfer profits are going
  9. Ah yes. Last year's player profits on this year's purchases and wages. Thanks.
  10. Worse than that it's not even funny.
  11. I would be very interested in what these 'other benefits' might be. So far there is not a lot to get excited about. Trade is extremely important. It also leads to greater understanding and cooperation.
  12. They'll still be there now. Those machines are useless.
  13. Actually €14m not €4m but they want around €20m. All 'according to an English source'. I wonder who that could be?
  14. Wes, I get the impression that you are happy with Brexit at any price and are not too bothered about what trading situation we eventually end up with. Of course countries trade with each other, it's the costs, difficulties and overheads involved that are significant.
  15. You are obviously streetwise Sue but I know people who refuse to accept that these price hikes occur even when you put the evidence in front of them.
  16. But we have to deal with 26 countries other than Germany and some of them are not too bothered about car exports. What exactly is this 'clout' whereof you speak?
  17. No, Clasie definitely caught Shaw's right foot/ankle which pushed it onto the back of Shaw's left calf. If you think it's easy to do this yourself then give it a try. This is one illustration of where TV is not very good at showing the detail. All the players who were close by and the referee saw it clearly and accepted it.
  18. That's not abuse. Some would regard it as a compliment.
  19. Au contraire, £30m is a gamble if the buying club is stretching its resources to buy him. For a club like Man U it wouldn't even count as speculation.
  20. I still can't get used to him not being our player
  21. Are you being deliberately obtuse? Buying anybody from a foreign league on the relatively cheap is always going to be a bit of a gamble as to whether they are going to adapt to our league. Making a large profit out of them is even less guaranteed. If it wasn't everybody would be doing it.
  22. Let's say that there has been a history of foreign imports who have not adapted to or been a success in the Premier League. Many of these have been moved on subsequently at a loss. I certainly don't remember many in here thinking that we'd sell him on for a big markup after only two years. I admit that I had my misgivings myself. Out of Osvaldo, Ramírez and Mané we just about broke even overall.
  23. Mané was a gamble that paid off but it could easily have gone wrong and there was that early period whilst he was finding his feet. Osvaldo certainly didn't work out.
  24. I read that as Madonna turning them down.
