  1. I don't agree that the Euro is not a success. I find it works quite well wherever I go. If Britain were in it it would be a considerable boost to our European sales. Why do you consider it a disaster?
  2. That's a difficult question. He needs ten games or so before he can start to get back in the groove but during those games he is going to miss a few chances.
  3. The Euro's working fine. I have never had any problems with it.
  4. Good morning Saint G. I thought that too. He can, of course, not play for more than two clubs in a season.
  5. Many years ago I asked Richard Hall (remember him?) whether the fans made any difference. He said that once he was on the pitch he was too busy concentrating too notice. Other players may feel different.
  6. I remember seeing a photo in the papers showing his body covered in bruises after that test. It's always sad when your childhood heroes pass away. Farewell Brian, RIP.
  7. I knew someone whose cousin was killed whilst crossing a street at a road junction. The driver was putting in his slippers and lighting his pipe at the time. Smokers are so fixated on getting their fix that everything else is secondary.
  8. I find this argument extremely tenuous. Are we also subsidising those who choose not to work at all and stay at home?
  9. I'd like to know too. Whenever I've seen him play I've enjoyed watching him. There must be some reason why he doesn't get a game.
  10. I'm late to this thread, but great support and a 4-0 defeat. Their support can't have helped much.
  11. Never argue with a clean sheet, especially away.
  12. Hmm... won't he be playing against us in a couple of weeks? (Very thin, I'll grant you that)
  13. I'm not a great fan either but I take my hat off to him. 50 goals are a lot for level, let alone an international.
  14. Meh, Kane's was better.
  15. I agree completely. The hallowed turf should be sacrosanct.
  16. Annoying, isn't it? I assume it's a leftover from the rugby. http://www.ladbrokeschallengecup.com/news I don't think EUFA will be happy about the spurious, almost subliminal, advertising.
  17. I assumed that Horley etc was referring to the groups that have been upset by Sun headlines.
  18. Gotcha! ?
  19. We discussed this situation at a referees meeting many years ago. Technically, if there are two bookable offences then the referee is within his rights to issue two yellows but I maintained then, and I still do now, that it cannot be considered a 'caution' unless the player is aware that he has been 'cautioned'. One experienced referee said that he used to point at the offending player and say clearly 'you're booked' without actually showing the card at that time. I'm sure that this situation will be discussed and clarified at the next FIFA meeting but that won't help Baird.
  20. Disrespectful.
  21. No, I wasn't talking about population growth, I was referring to the policy of encouraging an immigrant workforce in order to pay for the indigenous elder population, a workforce who will have not contributed anything to their own pension plans and will become an even bigger demand once they themselves get old.
  22. You need to look at the demographics. When these younger people get old there will be far more old people than there are now. Then they will need even more younger people to pay for them. It's not a steady-state system, if it were there would be no need for more taxpayers to pay for the oldies.
  23. That's a giant Ponzi scheme. In time these younger contributors will get old and need supporting themselves.
  24. I presume that's the one that only goes sideways?
