  1. I wonder which part I will have donated? I hope it's his smile (or part of it, maybe a tooth).
  2. I'm fairly certain that's a renewal but it would be prudent to check.
  3. A nice bloke but I think 'never let us down' is stretching things a bit too far. I think Maik Taylor was a better keeper but we sold him for £500k and bought Jones for £1m.
  4. Cheers for that. I'm not sure we can afford another promotion.
  5. Is that why you're called 'revolution' Saint?
  6. No, you were right the first time. I did spell it incorrectly, but surely everyone is entitled to the odd slip of the keys? Disposable income as teenagers? You're 'avin a larf. Watch 'Saturday Night and Sunday Morning' to see what life was like.
  7. You have been using 'entitled' in the wrong context.
  8. I take it you weren't there? For teenagers the sixties were nothing like they have been portrayed.
  9. You really, really haven't go a clue, have you?
  10. Entitelment is conferred on the receiver of the concession by the organisation which is offering it. Hence anybody who meets the terns of the concession is entitled to receive it. Perhaps you mean 'deserving' of a concession? If they want to offer such then it is up to them. In this instance they have removed the concession, as they are entiled to do, and also applied very large price increases. This, along with the lack of postal information and extremely short renewal window is very curious marketing. I am deeply concerned about the way this club is heading.
  11. It's all men, men, men with you isn't it? What about the women!
  12. That's not what I am saying. In calling his dog 'n****r' he was not comparing or inferring anything against people of a different skin colour. The word had another meaning which was literally 'black' and came direct from the Latin and most educated people would have had this knowledge. The names Niger and Nigeria also have the same root. You're quite right that people held views which would be considered racist by today's standards. You should hear what they said about the Germans at the time.
  13. Gibson wasn't being racist when he named his dog. The word was also in common usage to describe a colour which was very dark black.
  14. Thanks Jenmason. My roof faces south-east so in the summer we get a lot of sun on it from 04:30. Would it be better for me to feed the electricity back to the grid, or to heat my hot water with the immersion heater thereby saving gas? The net cost to me would be 3p per unit seeing as I would get the 43.3p/unit anyway, but II would be saving the cost of the gas.
  15. Ok, let's put this to bed. I am arguing on behalf of those who are not able to do so, my circumstances are for me alone to consider and 'anger' does not describe the way I feel. The pension age is being increased because the working population is expected to live longer but those who are now over 60 were born at a time when environmental issues amongst other factors have meant that they will not live as long as those born 20, 30 or even 40 years ago and many have passed on before they even got close to drawing a pension. This lot will not be around to complain about centenarians.
  16. It will affect you too some day. It's because they are 'nearly dead' that they deserve a concession. What do you expect them to do? Sit in the corner and keep quiet?
  17. They could very easily have written a script that did not mention the codeword for 'mission complete'.
  18. We've been through this before. Women in this age group have passed their retirement age and many of them will have been forcibly retired from their jobs so it is very facile to say that they should just go out and get another one but it is not that straightforward.. That's why many clubs offer an age-related concession to them and because of the sex equality act they must also offer the same concession to men of the same age. They can choose to offer it at any age provided that it is the same for men and women. Saints have offered it at age 60 for may years now and have suddenly and without warning decided to increase it to 65.
  19. Was it because it it a sh*t house?
  20. We all do it all the time. It's more noticeable as you get older. Some people think it's due to degeneration of the brain cells but we know different, eh?
  21. More info here: http://www.eastleigh.gov.uk/housing/home-energy-saving/renewable-energy.aspx http://www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/Generate-your-own-energy/Sell-your-own-energy/Feed-in-Tariff-scheme#tarifflevels So, if I understand it correctly, for Photovoltaic panels you are paid for each unit (kWh) that you generate whether you use it yourself or export it to the grid. This is the FIT rate, currently 43.3p/unit. If you don't use the electricity, for example when you are on holiday, you export it and get paid an extra 3p/unit. You also save because you aren't buying so much electricity. These rates are guaranteed for 25 years and will rise in line with RPI. You have to pay for the installation yourself and there are no other grants involved. The efficiency of the panels will decrease over the 25 years but if you buy good ones this will not drop below 80% of new. You need to clean them occasionally. The inverters will probably not last 25 years but you can buy insurance (warranty) to cover this period. The FIT rates will ber reviewed at the end of this year. These tariffs will be reduced from 31st March next year. Is this all correct?
  22. Star Wars. It said so at the beginning.
  23. Because the club will sell more seats. This is their decision, not for you or us. Our decision is whether to pay the prices. Of course, if the club should ever decide not to offer any age-related concessions then they will be widely vilified. I don't know of any organisation that has increased their age criterion once it has been set at 60.
  24. It's not that easy to find work, and those that do are taking it away from somebody else, probably younger...
