I think that's in reverse though - as in only 4 teams had less, not more.

99th minute equaliser from Everton. FFS!

Get in there Wolves!

I see this argument being made a lot, but it doesn't really hold up IMO. Just because someone was a decent op level player doesn't automatically mean they will be a successful manager. Lampard had a superb reputation as a player but he didn't 'command the respect' of the squad at Everton. Far from it. He was aloof, distant, and didn't even attend most training sessions. On the flip side, nobody knew anything about Adkins when we appointed him, but he instantly got the players and fans on board and was a huge success for us. Appointing a manager just because they are a big name from their playing days is just idiotic, and absolutely not the right way to go about this appointment.

This is the likely outcome, but it fucking stinks. They should have had the points deduction last season, so if they escape it again this season it will be an absolute travesty. Looks like a number of clubs (including us) have launched a legal challenge to it though... Rival clubs threaten to sue Everton for £300MILLION over losses (msn.com)

You're right, of course, but I'm certain we wouldn't have been as bad as we turned out to be, and would still be in with a shout of staying up today. I'm well aware that things had gone wrong, he was struggling and the overall form for 2022 was abysmal, but I thought after we ditched the disastrous 3/5 at the back system that we opened the season with, we actually looked OK. That short period, when we got the wins against Chelsea and Leicester, and drew with Man U, we looked like a competitive, fairly well organised team, capable of grinding out results even despite our lack of firepower. Much better than the likes of Bournemouth or Notts Forest were at the time anyway. Then Lavia got injured and we had to play Diallo in DM for a while, and our form, shape and general competence completely fell apart. I genuinely believe that if Lavia had stayed fit, or if we still had Romeu around to stand in for him, we'd have been in a much better position than we were by the end of October, and perhaps might have even gone on to build on it with the January signings. At no point since the WC have we ever looked even close to the level of performance we were showing during that early spell. There's no guarantees that we would have found it again if Ralph had stayed, of course, but I have no doubt we wouldn't have been so utter dogshit as we went on to become. That debacle at home to Forest would never have happened, we would have at least a couple more wins right now than we do, and we'd still be right in the mix with a chance of survival. All IMHO, of course.

Absolutely this. His post match interview was pathetic. For all his plus points, he shows no leadership whatsoever. To come out snd say he doesn't think we did everything we could, and that standards have been dropping since day one of pre-season is such a cop out. It's his job as captain to make sure that doesn't happen. I wouldn't want him to stick around now after that. It's clear he is a massive part of the problem. He is undoubtedly talented but he simply doesn't have the necessary winning mentality, and he's far too lightweight and cowardly for what we will need in the Cshp next session. Thanks for some memorable goals James, but I really think it's best for everyone that we part ways and cash in. We really don't need that weak mindset stinking the place out if we're serious about trying to get back up next season.

Could be just the shot in the arm the club needs.

"Fought tirelessly" I've seen very little evidence of that on the pitch, which is the only place where it really matters.

I work with a dedicated Lincoln City fan who follows them all over the country. His comment after their trip to SMS was "I've seen much better teams in L1".

The inability to spell 'concede' sums this up perfectly. Idiots.

Fixed it for you.

And there's the final nail in the coffin. Just to put us our of our misery once and for all.

I really can't wait to see the back of this team. I can cope with losing as long as we show some effort and desire, because it at least gives you something to cheer and support, but this bunch of spineless pricks can just fuck right off as far as I'm concerned.

That'll be a really appropriate autocorrect after next year's GE.

92% possession for Fulham so far, according to B365.
-
Every cloud etc.. I'm just looking at it from a purely selfish POV. I live in Sheffield and I was hoping I would be able to watch Saints at Hillsborough next season. At least Rov'rum and Hudds stayed up, and there's still a chance the Dingles might win the L1 playoffs, so I'll still have dome fairly local games to get to.
-
Have to feel sorry for Wednesday, and it just highlights the injustice of the playoff system really. They finished the season with a record points tally for a team outside the top two (96) and, barring a very unlikely turnaround in the second leg, they are going to lose out to a team that finished 19 points behind them, having lost three times as many games.
-
Well I have no idea how we will line up, because it's anybody's guess what names Selles pulls out of the hat this week. Nothing we do now matters because only a miracle will prevent us from dropping now, so at the very least I would like to see our forward players just trying to win some FKs around the box so JWP can equal Beckham's record before he leaves. That would be the one solitary crumb of consolation to take from this godawful shitshow of a season.

Good question. I don't see how it's possible really. We'll have to furlough it for a year to gather a baseline to work from in 2024/25 (assuming we're still in the Championship and haven't exited in an upwards or, perish the thought, downwards direction) Poor old Minsk would be turning in his grave if he could see how this thread has unravelled this season. I miss him 😢
-
Phew. That was lucky. We might have actually lost this game otherwise.

Make that 5 🙄

Season over.
