For someone who is supposedly so clued up about football, he seems to be alarmingly oblivious to the chicken and egg scenario here. The players need to give the fans something to cheer and sing about, but we've endured years and years of turgid, pedestrian shite on the pitch and we're so fatigued from it now that all we are able to express is frustration and cynicism.
-
And we've just lost to a team with one of them as manager. Wonderful.
-
Has it though? With the utter lack of commitment and intensity throughout the squad, and a total inability of our forward players to do what they are paid to do, how would it have been saveable with this squad? The only thing I think that could have been done to make any difference would be to bring Macca back in place of the hopeless Bazunu which would gave given us a slum chance of turning a few of those 1-0 defeats into 0-0 draws, but that still wouldn't have been enough come the end of the season.

Well at least Everton are losing at home again. Every cloud and all that.
-
Yep, me too. I feel so disconnected from this group of players that I'm not going to waste any of my emotional energy on them. When you look back at thecrelegation scraps in the 90s, we had players like Franny who were technically limited but put their blood, sweat and tears into trying, so even when we lost you could still applaud the effort. This lot just look like they're a bunch of mates having a kick around in the park.

I don't think Selles is our biggest problem really. It doesn't matter who he picks or what formation he chooses - this squad is utter dogshit and not even remotely PL quality.
-
Oh fuck off Saints. Seriously just fuck thr fuck off you useless bunch of utter pricks. I'm done with you.

Christ! I had actually forgotten about him completely until you posted this.

We've got one. He's currently banging them in for Burnley.

"Elyounoussi closest to it but never in danger of getting a touch" Course he wasn't. And there it is. Game over.
-
Ref seems to be letting City get away with a lot of niggly little fouls.
-
Looking on the bright side - Everton, Forest and Leicester all losing is good at least. I mean, not that it matters in the long run cos we ain't gonna beat Man City and we still ain't gonna stay up, but still.

Obviously not, because GL has been tweeting politically charged, anti-government content for many years. So if that was against the terns of his contract then he would have been sacked long before now. I seriously doubt there would be any legal basis to include a clause in his contract forbidding him to have his own opinion on social media where he is posting as an individual and not representing his employer. Given his propensity to such postings, I very much doubt he would sign such a contract even if there was.

Don't seem to remember you ever complaining about Andrew Neil posting some horrendously biased right wing bollocks on Twitter while also being a senior political presenter on the BBC.

And it's obviously working. I was forced to sit through a Jeremy Vine radio phone-in while waiting at the docs the other day where they were discussing this, and with a depressing inevitability some knuckle dragging moron came on and said he will definitely vote Tory at the next election if they bring in this policy. -
The problem here is that we've burned ourselves out usually by the 55-60 min mark, and the drop off in quality on the bench is horrendous. Any team that is forced to bring on players like AA and Moi due to lack of other options is always going to show a huge dip in performance as a result. I look at the other teams in the PL and I can't think of a single one where those two players would ever get game time, let alone regularly. Thank goodness today we managed to get a lead to hold onto before needing to make those changes.

His name is Alcaraz, not Alvarez.
-
It was a simple mis-kick from a horribly bouncing back pass. It happens to all keepers at some point. True, it seems to happen to Bazunu more frequently than others, but I've seen far better keepers than him do far worse than that before and been punished for it.
-
Is it really too much to ask that a group of obscenely well paid professional athletes could - just for once - manage to actually win a game they are expected to win? We can somehow turn it on against City and Chelsea, but when it comes to actual 'winnable' games we just consistently shit the bed and hand it to the opposition on a plate. It's quite bizarre.

I missed the 0-9 cos I was out at a gig that night. Still never seen a single clip of it. Think I might check the live music listings for this weekend and give this one a miss as well.
-
Had one shot from a turn inside that went just wide but probably wouldn't have beaten the keeper anyway. Aside from that he did nothing of any note.

I thought the 79 at the end of your username might have denoted the year you were born, but there's no way that someone in their mid-40s could possibly be this immature so I'm guessing it must actually be your IQ.

He also said he was surprised that Aribo hasn't started more games for us. I usually like him as a co-com but he showed his ignorance tonight.

And if you don't think he's decent, considering he's only 18 and in gis first season of senior football, then you clearly know nothing about football.
