  1. All of these issues were worst case scenario projections. I don't remember anybody seriously saying any of them would definitely happen in the event of a leave vote. And anyway, believe it or not, I didn't vote remain out of fear of what might happen if we left; I voted to remain because I was happy with what we already had and was not in any way convinced by the arguments in favour of leave. Ultimately, nobody actually knew what the actual economic effects would be, so all we had were projections. That's why I based my decision more on social and moral aspects, like environmental protections, worker's rights, scientific cooperation, and the knowledge that my daughter would have the right to live and work anywhere in Europe when she grows up if that's what she chooses. So I won't deny that there were exaggerations and half truths put out by the official remain campaign. But they are dwarfed by the outright, deliberate lies peddled by the leave campaign (£350m for the NHS, Turkey joining the EU etc...), and had no influence whatsoever in my decision to vote the way I did.
  2. The director of Vote Leave even admitted this himself.
  3. In what way was I 'conned and used'? Seriously, how can voting to retain membership of an organisation which I know has been overwhelmingly beneficial to me and my country be described as being 'conned and used'? The leave campaign peddled a pack of absolute lies in order to get public support for their ultra-right wing enrichment project, with the promise of 'only positive' benefits of leaving and 'sunlit uplands' having negotiated the easiest deal in history with the EU before triggering Article 50. Three years down the line and it's glaringly obvious that the reality of the situation bears no resemblance whatsoever to the fantasy that was sold in the 2016 referendum. Yet so many people who were taken in by it still cannot or will not accept that they were hoodwinked into voting for a turkey. "It is easier to fool someone than to convince them they have been fooled." - Mark Twain. Never a truer word said.
  4. Anybody know if Sheff Utd is likely to reach general sale? It's probably going to be the only game I'll make it to this season, so I'm loathe to fork out an extra £45 for membership just for the sake of one game.
  5. Maybe we should instruct Long to 'do a Vardy' on him.
  6. The first two lines of that made me think of Ganga Kru's Super Sharp Shooter. Would be very appropriate if he was a striker I guess.
  7. Was that the infamous 4-3 game where we were 3-0 up at half time and Paul Rideout scored a 2nd-half hattrick for Tranmere?

The Benny Hill theme tune? Would be very appropriate for our defence!
  10. Paper is biodegradable. Plastic is not. The cups can be recycled at specialist centres. The lids are made from recycled plastic.
  11. I love VAR already!
  12. Adam Leitch's tweet confirms the delay is on the Augsburg side. But hey, you keep bashing our club for it if it makes you feel better.
  13. If I make a prediction of who will surprise me most, then it won't actually be a surprise will it!
  14. Sorry but I have to disagree. Regardless of the origin of the name, it is most definitely recognised as their official (and only, outside of Southampton) nickname. https://www.football-stadiums.co.uk/articles/club-nicknames/#league-one Definitely agree about the last bit though
  15. Interesting that nobody has mentioned our fishy neighbors yet. I'd say their nickname is at least as widely used as ours, if not more.
  16. You need to get your facts right Ducky. The mural depicted four men meant to represent key figures from the world of global banking, only two of whom happened to be Jewish. The artist himself confirmed this. It was a protest against the way that these men have influenced global politics for their own financial gain, and their ethnicity and/or religion have nothing to do with it.
  17. Yeah that's pretty much my take on it. He was hoping to attract a big club to sign him, but it seems he hasn't done enough to earn that yet. But the interview that was put out a few weeks back didn't suggest he had refused to play for us or anything as drastic as that. If nothing happens between now and the end of the window then hopefully he will have the awareness needed to recognise he will have to buckle down and perform for us more consistently if he wants to get his big move.
  18. Hold your horses - he's not guaranteed to become PM yet you know. With such a slender majority already, if enough MPs quit the party (as they have been threatening to do) before he gets the chance to visit her Maj and ask to form a government, then he won't be able to.
  19. Jonathan Frakes is doing some directing, I believe. Stands to reason he will at least make a cameo as Riker.
  20. I wondered if they would bring back some of the old characters for this series. Not surprised to see Data included, although I wondered how they would overcome (or provide an in-universe explanation for) the fact that Brent Spiner will have aged significantly since he last donned the makeup. Pleasantly surprised to see Jeri Ryan return as Seven of Nine though. Look forward to seeing her with (hopefully) a decent script and not having to engage constantly with the terminally irritating Janeway. Pretty excited about this now.
  21. https://www.reuters.com/investigates/special-report/britain-eu-johnson-russian/ What's this? Boris has links to dodgy Russians trying to influence British politics? I'm shocked!
  22. He's like an Olympic sprinter compared to Moi.
  23. Used to see this all the time when I was working on the road. People speeding along in these sections of road, slowing down for the camera and then speeding up again. Clearly oblivious to the importance of the word 'average' on the signs. Idiots.
  24. The same David Hughes that played for us in the 90s?
  25. I can think of a few players over the years whose footballing ability was arguably poorer than Carillo's, but in terms of return on investment then yes, he must be right near at the top of that list.
