Was quite astounding to see the WHam players rounding on the ref after the red card. It was the most obvious, unarguable decision you'll ever see.
-
Keeper deliberately handled outside the box. Ref had no choice.
-
Dammit. Jääskeläinen on now. He played an absolute blinder at SMS last season IIRC.
-
I'm beginning to wonder if he's ever going to score again.
-
Good game so far. Saints looking far more likely to score but I said that at half time against Swansea. What has this ref been smoking though? Doesn't even give a the FK for the Kouyate handball but books Fonte for an equally accidental one. Then misses a blatant deflection for what should have been a corner. Very poor.
-
Not for me he doesn't. Our attacking play has looked much sharper today with Mane and Elia in the wide positions. We need to use their pace if we want to score goals.
-
There was no 'nearly' about it.
-
Ouchy. That looked painful.
-
Mane is causing them all sorts of problems at the back. We really should be winning this game.
-
Lovely bit of skill from Mane to set up that chance. And Fonte smashes the crossbar from the corner!
-
Indeed. He clearly wasn't intending to hurt Matty, but when you've got that much sideways momentum you simply can't lead with your elbow like that. It's reckless and, as has been proved, likely to cause a serious injury. Ref should have at least given a foul.

Targett down and not moving

And you have clearly missed my point. Grief affects different people in different ways, and often with a delayed effect. Just because he was able to play in the short term after his bereavement, doesn't mean it can't still be affecting him mentally.

Yeah because it only takes missing one game to completely get over the death of your father doesn't it.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 0-1 Swansea
Sheaf Saint replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Well despite all the doom and gloom on here, I thought we actually played some decent stuff today. And our final balls weren't as terrible as they have been at times this season. It's just that Swansea packed their box and defended very well, crowding out our attacking threats. Williams was by far the best player on the pitch today, and his double block from Mane towards the end epitomised everything about his game. Disappointing result, yes, but we move on. As others have said - with our first choice DM players on the pitch today that goal would not have happened. And to all those who blame Forster for it, maybe you should be looking at the defenders who just backed off and off and invited him to shoot in the first place if you want to apportion blame. It was a superb hit that very few keepers in the PL would have saved IMO. -
What the actual foook? How can that possibly be a red card!?
-
They heard you
-
It's got 0-0 written all over it.
-
Good to see the standard of refereeing being maintained. Ref over-rules the lino on a correct corner call and gives a GK instead.
-
Redknapp in his post-match interview: "How we got beat I don't know" It's quite simple 'Arry... Your defence was an utter shambles. If you can't see that then you have no place in football management.
-
Billy Sharp, Jonno Forte and Ricardo Fuller all scored for their respective clubs today.
-
Well, one thing is for certain is that Nige Adkins had nothing to do with it. That much was evident from the interviews he gave at the time.
-
There was also that wonder goal they scored at St James when they won 4-2 (can't remember if it was last season or the season before) which shouldn't have stood because the player was clearly a good few yards offside when the ball was played up to him. What goes around comes around.
