  1. Dave thinks we are now looking the more dangerous team going forward. Don't know whether to take heart from that or accept that he's cursed it!
  2. Brum 4-1 up now
  3. errr, I hate to break this to you.....
  4. Why does the BBC live stats not count a penalty as a shot on target? Never understood that.
  5. Wonderful stuff!
  6. Ace. As soon as I start searching for some appropriate nun pictures, we get given a penalty!
  7. WHU 1-0 down already at Ipswich!!!!!
  8. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_div_1/16695931.stm Southampton * 01 Davis * 02 Richardson * 06 Fonte * 13 Fox * 16 Martin * 04 Schneiderlin * 08 Cork * 20 Lallana * 42 Puncheon * 07 Lambert * 22 Connolly Substitutes * 21 Bialkowski, * 03 Harding, * 14 Hammond, * 27 Falque, * 19 Lee Pretty strong team that I reckon
  9. Just seen this on Facebook...
  10. Meh, not a bad result considering we are still playing a patched-up team. For such a weakened defence to only concede one considering the pressure they were under is pretty good all in all. Could have done without it going to a replay in all honesty.
  11. Agreed. Nobody has really acquitted themselves this evening, with the one possible exception of Jos, but Guly has looked anything but a professional footballer. Absolutely dreadful control and just gives the ball away every time he gets near it. This is going to have to be one hell of a HT talk from NA to turn this around. Can't see us even scoring one, let alone two or three.
  12. Then you and I differ. Given what is out in the public domain about their inability to pay the HMRC and inability to survive without funding from the parent company, I simply cannot see any way that the FL can just sweep it under the carpet this time.
  13. I don't do brands. It's my belief that people who feel the need to spend more than is necessary on clothes with particular labels, because they think it makes them look cool, are fooling themselves more than anything. I buy whatever I feel comfortable wearing and, usually, whatever happens to be on special offer. Can't remember the last time I paid full retail price for an item of clothing. I also recommend people should watch John Pilger's documentary The New Rulers of the World - it might make you think twice about buying certain brands in future.
  14. Any excuse to post this again...
  15. My Girlfriend and me are going to Optimus Alive in Lisbon in July. The Stone Roses and Radiohead on the same ticket for £100 in the the sunshine was too tempting to turn down, especially as we were thinking of going to Portugal on holiday this summer anyway. On a side note, I notice the Big Chill has been canceled this year, ostensibly because it clashes with the Olympics but I wonder if there is more to it. Festival Republic's attempt to cash in on it last year by re-branding it as a commercial, teenage-friendly festival with Kanye West and Jessie J headlining backfired on them spectacularly when they didn't even sell half of their tickets. Serves them right for alienating all of its long-standing supporters and messing with something that used to be amazing.
  16. Not me personally, but my girlfriend is a direct descendant of James Watt's business partner Matthew Boulton.

    Sopa

It's ostensibly about combating online piracy, but it would give the government the power to censor whatever websites they wish and would also allow big businesses to have websites removed from search engines or shut down completely if they suspect that website of linking to copyrighted material.
  18. Orroiyt my loverrr! I have a lot of family living there and love the way they all speak. Next time you are talking to someone from Brizzle, try and get them to say the word 'ridiculous' and see if you can restrain yourself from cracking up at it. Accents really are a fascinating thing to me. I never really considered Southampton folk to have much of an accent until I moved away, and now I realise not just how pronounced it is, but also how different it is on either side of the Itchen. My girlfriend is from Cumbria and she reckons I have a very thick southern twang, but I would never have guessed the origin of her accent because although she grew up in Kendal, her father is a Laandaner and her mother is from Devon. I used to know a lad who had a Welsh mother and an American Father, and he spent various amounts of time in each country while he was growing up. His was possibly the oddest accent I have ever heard (with the one exception of Steve Maclaren's Bizarre attempt at sounding Dutch) I love the sound of a broad Lancashire accent like Jane Horrocks' and also the gentle sound of a woman from the southern counties of Ireland. I will add a +1 to disliking brummie (did anyone hear Sebastian Vettel trying to do a brummie accent on Top Gear? Hilarious!) and I also find that people from Ulster always sound like they are being very defensive about something which grates on me a bit.

    Sherlock

I'm still upset (although, not really surprised) that the Beeb didn't use this version when they brought the series back...
  20. I hears about this on the radio this morning. It's in protest at the proposed SOPA and PIPA bills that the US senate is trying to push through.
  21. Why should you discredit the entire thing just because it is written by Johann Hari? OK, it's fair to say that recent events have tarnished his reputation somewhat, but I remember reading this when it was published and it appears to be a very well-researched article. I happen to know a lot of what he says (in this piece) is true because my brother lived and worked in Dubai when this was written, and he was extremely lucky to be able to get out of the country when he was made redundant.
  22. That's a bit unfair IMO. He had some cracking games for us and looked like a fantastic signing before suffering a career-ending injury.
  23. I rated him very highly when we played him in the attacking CM role prior to his big injury, and think he was very unlucky not to get picked for the 2002 WC with ROI. BY the time he left he was just a shadow of the player we had once seen. Is it just coincidence that Delap spelled backwards is paled?
  24. Given that I live in Sheffield, and that the items will have been there since at least 2005 when I bought the house, I'd say it's unlikely to be the same stuff.
