I think this is spot on, which is why a few days ago I commented that I would be surprised if he ends up there. I've followed their pre-season promotional tour of the US, where they lost to Bournemouth and West Ham, and drew 2-2 with Utd. They have a handful of decent players but overall a very threadbare squad, and two or three marquee signings isn't going to magically resolve that. Their fans are also a different level of entitled and demanding, so if he doesn't start performing immediately they will be on his back straight away.

Or it could go the other way. For all its faults, Goodison Park created a special atmosphere for them and often acted as a twelfth man, as the Dell did for us but which was completely lost when we moved to SMS.
-
Yeah he was shocking for them, but it was his time at Utd that ruined him. Blaming us for that would be like buying a beaten up second hand car and complaining to the original dealer about the state of it.

Oh Whitey, how many times do you need to have it explained to you that they are not 'randomly' generated, and xG is not just some bloke watching video replays and plucking a number out of thin air. The best stat to measure goalkeeper performance is post shot expected goals (PSxG) vs goals conceded. PSxG is calculated by assessing loads of different factors like shot distance, angle, power, curl, and keeper position, and then compared against a massive historical database. It's more accurate than ordinary xG because it doesn't take into account the multitude of factors leading to the creation of the chance and instead focuses solely on those after it's been hit. For two seasons in a row, our Gav was bottom of the table for PSxG vs GA, and by some considerable margin each time. This completely supports the evidence of my own eyes, which is that he is a very poor shotstopper who rarely saves anything that isn't straight at him. But if you want to believe that he's just the very unfortunate victim of some completely made up stats - coincidentally two seasons in a row (what are the chances!) then you carry on.

They need an entire new right side. The reason they want Dibling is to play RW.
-
They might have new owners, but they are still treading a very thin line on PSR. Their losses over recent years are ridiculous.
-
Was just reading the Everton forum and they seem pretty convinced that Dibling will be signing for them this week. I'll be fucking amazed if he ends up there, personally. They have also been linked to Maitland-Niles and are happy to overlook his terrible performances for us because it was just being at Southampton that dragged him down 😂

Of course it would be nice to get all our business done early on, but that just isn't how football transfer windows work unless you're willing to pay massively over the odds on transfer fees and wages. The main reason so many signings happen late on in the window is because players are always advised by their agents to hold off and wait to see if they get a better offer elsewhere before committing. Then you also have the domino effect, which is due to selling clubs being reluctant to let players leave until they have secured a replacement. It's the same every summer and every January.

Bollocks would they. The second one bounced twice before crossing the line. I'm not saying Bazunu should have saved them, because they were both well placed, but it's a massive stretch to suggest they were unstoppable.

I know the Rangers fans set high standards and aren't known for lots of patience, but even I never expected to see this after just one league game.
-
They had 62% possession though.

I didn't watch today, so let me get this straight... Having spent the back end of last season desperately wanting Juric to ditch the 3 CBs because it clearly didn't work with the players we had available, we're now saying that playing 3 CBs is the best option for us right now with the players we have available? I'm confused.

Not that difficult actually. Just Google 'Dejphon Chansiri Sheffield Wednesday' for further info.

UK will recognise Palestinian state in September unless Israel agrees to Gaza ceasefire and other conditions - live updates - BBC News https://share.google/TjDNbZxosiQrCsiGY Better late than never, but the fact that it's taken the near destruction of the territory and enforced starvation of the population to get here reflects very badly on this government and its predecessors.

A truly shocking indictment of the SR 'model'.
-
From a PSR perspective, undoubtedly. But it's looking more and more like Lavia will be the only signing from the Man City academy that window that we actually turned a profit on (because let's face it, we're never getting our investment back on Bazunu or Larios). So it's a good job he turned out to be decent and we were able to pull Chelsea's pants down on that deal otherwise the entire enterprise would have been an utter farce.
-
Surely not. After all, the South Yorkshire Police have such an impeccable record of honesty and integrity. Oh, hang on ...
-
Wasn't he a homegrown player though?
-
Kind of pisses all over the 'sign promising young talent, develop them and sell for a handsome profit' philosophy that drove our transfer strategy that summer though, cos that's basically what we paid for him.

They must have passed me by because I genuinely don't remember any.
-
Yeah I worked them all out except SA. Who the hell is that?
-
He regularly played on the left of a forward 3 at Blackburn, but not as an out and out winger. For that you need pace, trickery, the ability to beat a man and a decent crossing ability. BBD has none of those things on last season's evidence.
-
That would be significantly less than the €8m we paid for him. Can't see the club agreeing to that, given what we got for Sulemana and the fact that Edozie outperformed him last time out in the Championship.
