See, all you've done is dig yourself even deeper here. You are conflating Jewish people with Israeli people. Perhaps not deliberately, but language matters in issues as sensitive as this. The Israeli government are not the leaders of the Jewish people. There are plenty of Jewish people, Israeli or otherwise, who abhor the actions of the Israeli government and their despicable and inhumane treatment of the Palestinian people (as do I). Have you ever wondered why certain people want to "twist and misinterpret" what you say Soggy? It doesn't come from absolutely nowhere (Turkish aside; his obsession with you is just plain weird) . I do sense from you that you have a strong social conscience and moral compass, and I genuinely think your heart is in the right place. But I also see you frequently trip yourself up by using clumsy language that leaves you open to criticism. This thread is a prime example of that. So I'm not having a pop at you, I'm actually just trying to do you a favour by pointing out that you might want to consider the wording you use more carefully in future to try and avoid this happening.

Yep, seems that way. If the structure failed and the sub imploded at that depth, they would have been crushed instantly. Much better way to go than suffocating to death one by one slowly in total darkness.

For which I will be at a festival myself... In Sheffield! 😭

Fuck me. Where do you even start with this? 🤦
-
I assure you I haven't. I abhor the persecution that successive Israeli governments have visited on the Palestinian people, but I am always careful to aim my criticism directly at them rather than at Jewish people on the whole. I'm sure you did not intend to tar all Jews with the same brush, but the way you worded it could have made it look like you were. And in so doing, you invite accusations of antisemitism.

You need to be more careful with your language here Soggy. It looks like you're portraying the entire Jewish diaspora as a single homogeneous entity and blaming them all for the actions of the Israeli government. There’s a word for that. Can you guess what it is?

Fucking hell Matt. You really didn't engage your brain before posting this did you 🤦 This is the problem with him. Just like David Icke before him, he may well have some valid points and genuine questions worth further exploration. But they get lost in the noise of all the rest of the deranged, conspiratorial bullshit he posts, so it's impossible to take him seriously.

Gonna get flamed for this, but... I preferred last season's kit. Although the 87-89 was current when I started going to the Dell, I never liked it. I thought the design worked OK for Villa and Coventry, but with ours being red, the side with the white stripes just looks pink from a distance (the back of the Milton Rd stand, for instance). Awful kit.

It was just a bit of cake FFS 🙄 -
And a very moving tribute to Nichelle Nichols in the end credits. Nice touch.

Deputy editor of the Torygraph on 5live just now, claiming that the current episode could be damaging for the Tories in next year's GE and might... "make it hard for them to get the majority they need. It could cost them ten or even twenty seats" -
Probably because every one of those players you mention occasionally showed glimpses of being decent, but were just largely inconsistent. Elyounoussi has never, not once, ever shown any sign of having any of the necessary attributes to be a PL player.

It's just Johnson reading from the Trump playbook. He knows full well it isn't really a kangaroo court, he just wants to play the victim to make his hard of thinking supporters believe he's been stitched up. -

I think it's probably more just the somewhat ludicrous idea that there is a single MP on the opposition benches that hasn't criticised Johnson at some point. Because, let's face it, they wouldn't be doing their jobs as 'the opposition' if they didn't criticise such a hopelessly inept and unsuitable PM, given the ammunition he provided them on pretty much a daily basis while in office. -

That's not true. It's well known that they are caused by periodic weakening (El Niño) and strengthening (La Niña) of trade winds in the Pacific ocean.

If you're going to have a pop at someone for not being bright because of an un-noticed autocorrect, it usually helps if you don't then fuck up the spelling of the word yourself. Otherwise you could end up making a bit of a tit of yourself. Just saying. -
That's not actually what GT's tweet says though is it. Try reading it again.

You're citing the Tufton Street based right wing lobby group the Institute for Economic Affairs - one of the major organisations responsible for the utter fucking catastrophe we call Brexit - as a credible source of scientific data? Wow. Their abstract makes a fundamental error when considering the success of lockdowns: that they were designed to protect individual people from dying. They weren't. Their sole purpose was to prevent the NHS from being completely overwhelmed and collapsing under the demand on ICUs. In that respect, they succeeded.

Why don't you? The guy has made it his life's mission to promote himself as much as is humanly possible. He's been in the public eye over 4 decades and all the evidence points to him being a narcissistic, conniving, bulshitting, vindictive, corrupt, self-serving cunt of the highest order. The fact there are people out there still, after everything that has transpired in recent years, that are prepared to ignore such a wealth of evidence and give him the benefit of the doubt, absolutely terrifies me.
