He looks a decent player to me, 22 y.o with plenty of speed and power and of course 22 goals. All that plus he's scored heavily in a league that is tough and competitive. What's not to like? I don't see why under Ralph's tutelage he couldn't get 10-15 in the prem. IMO exactly the sort of player the club should be signing. Would they like Shane Long in exchange? He'd probably do very well in the champ....
  2. Would rather he stayed but if he wants out and the club need the cash then so be it, price looks low though.
  3. With Ralph coaching him that could be a very decent signing indeed - assuming it's vaguely true.
  4. Decent exciting football, not that bothered about what league we are in as long as it's entertaining. Our league 1 campaigns were 100 times more fun that the last 2-3 seasons in the prem.
  5. Class act and if we could get 5 years from Ralph IMO he'd become a legend. Sadly don't think we will though......this time next year the sharks will be circling and we'll just need to get the next Ralph.

No wallflower is he. When you've been involved with a thing like that something tells me a fans protest won't bother our chairman Gao......

Apparently we are now to be referred as the 'Southampton Squirrels' soccerball sporting club. Honest......ITK, bloke down pub, Gao told me in confidence in a phone box etc etc. (At least make the squirrel red FFS)
  8. Get a decent goalscorer and those draws turn into wins, we move up the table and fans are happy(ish). Ralph didn't do a good job this season - he did a near miraculous one. We were on the verge of being cut adrift by a long way when he came, 9 points at the half way point was looking quite possible when Hughes was sacked. He steadied the ship very quickly, got us playing with energy and enthusiasm and managed to squeeze a few decent performances from the team. I think next season will be a lot better - as long as Ralph stays + he has a decent kitty to spend.
  9. I like the look of Tammy Abraham but no idea if we could ever get him.
  10. I'm plumping for Spurs, prefer them to Pool but it's a 50:50 game though. TBH I don't really have a grudge against either. If it was PFC, Everton or Leeds then that would be a different matter.........
  11. Long doesn't score nearly enough and that's his primary job. Way beyond time that he was shifted on. I like Charlie but it's the same with him I'm afraid. His game is almost exclusively about goals and when he isn't scoring he doesn't offer a huge amount, time to move on. Funnily the one I would have been most happy to see what he could do is the one that got sold, Gabbi. Think he could have been a decent player under Ralph.
  12. Pretty sure he'll be here next season, not so sure about after that. Gut feeling is he'll follow the Poch trajectory and I wouldn't begrudge him that. Absolutely fantastic manager, frankly to get 18 months out of him is punching well above our weight when you consider he went from Bayern sniffing around him to the shambles that we were in when he came. The transformation from corpse to looking like top 8-10 has been miraculous IMO. However if Gao were to back him properly + he were to decide that he likes it here, wants a project is happy to stay longer (say 5 years) I could see him becoming a bit of a SFC legend, I rate him that much.
  13. Considering that when Hughes left we looked like we would be down by Jan Ralph has performed miracles to keep us up. We were a barely twitching corpse Ralph should be given a healthy budget next season, he's earned it.
  14. Should have won that. 1 point from the last 3 is making heavy work of this run in. Should have been in the clear by now. Just get the 3 against Bournemouth and lets finally kill off any doubts.
  15. With the right attitude we can get a win there. Let's just get the 3 points and put this season to bed.
  16. Not the best of days but it's on to the next one, just win and put this season to bed ASAP.
  17. Saints: 44 points and survival. Brighton: relegated on 34 points. Champions: Pool on 97 points (brace yourselves) CL spots Pool, Citeh, Spurs, Utd Champ Promotion: Norwich and Leeds Playoff: Villa FA Cup: Citeh Champions League: Wierdly have a funny feeling for Spurs Europa League: Valencia Pompey: Automatic Promotion
  18. Until it's mathematically certain it's all to play for. Just get a win at Newcastle and let's get to that point ASAP.
  19. Get in their faces and don't give them the space to recover from Sunday. 3 points are doable, just get them and let's put any lingering doubts to bed. ......also a Cardiff loss please.
  20. A lot of ppl think Cardiff are gone, I'm not nearly so sure. If Cardiff beat Burnley on Saturday then they are 5 points behind with a game in hand. They have potentially 3 games where they could win Brighton(a), Fulham(a), Palace(h) whereas Burnley look to have potentially a point vs Arsenal?? Saturday is massive for both teams. Wins against B'mth and Udders should definitely do it for us but hopefully we'll be able to nail this season long before then. If we can't get the requisite points before B'mth it could be itchy bum time.
  21. Played well, just lacked a cutting edge up front. With 1/2 decent striker(s) and Ralph still incharge I think we should be aiming for top 8 next season. Still work to be done in this one though. Wolves up next, 3 points and let's put this season to bed please.
  22. Portsmouth FC training session?
  23. All this small time revenge stuff, just concentrate on the 3 points to (all but) clear ourselves from the drop and then we can enjoy Cardiff\Burnley slogging it out for the 3rd spot. Seriously, get in their faces and I think they'll crack, they are good but we can beat them. Derailing their title ambitions and unleashing another tsunami of pity would be fun to witness but first and foremost we want the 3 points and virtual safety by the end of Friday.
  24. I think the last spot is looking like Burnley or Cardiff. At the moment Burnley have the whip hand but if they lose to Bournemouth (very possible) and Cardiff beat them then my money would be on Cardiff surviving. There would be 2 points between them, Cardiff would have 1 more game to play and would also have the wind in their sails. Burnley's last 4 fixtures look like yielding 1 point at most whereas I can see a dogged Cardiff grinding 4-6 out of their last 5. Either way another 2 wins and we are completely safe. A win against Pool would all but seal our safety and we could watch the scrap without any fear.
  25. Gao needs to do whatever it takes to keep Ralph, he's a top manager who has saved Gao's ass. With the likes of Bayern sniffing around him it was a real coup to get him here in the first place. I think we'll survive and Ralph will stay - at least till May 2020. If so then next season is going to be really interesting to see what Ralph can do with a full season and a bit of money to spend. Looking forward to it already.
