Nexstar replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Announcement by lunchtime tomorrow: http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/ -
I guess the £250-£350 is just adults?
-
Oh come on, announce something FFS!! I have a law essay that is not getting done as aresult!
-
But obviously doesn't have any insurance issues like the others. Not a mention on Solent. Time for lunch
-
None of the out of contract players (Davis, BWP, Euell, John) are in the squad.
-
WHU are bringing him in seemingly as a replacement for Green, who hasn't signed a new contract. Highly doubt davis, who is getting on a bit, will want to sit on the bench much.

How long before we reclaim our rightful position above the Skates?
Nexstar replied to Mole's topic in The Saints
Right, hardly likely to be counting those in real terms, especially as a 'friendly' between the clubs hasn't taken place in years. -
Saw Public Enemies last night and have to say it was an excellent film! Brilliant performances from Depp and Bale, although it was a fairly slow film, this was something that enhanced it, interspersed by shoot-outs and Dillinger escaping from jail. Quite emotional aswell with the final scene and Dillinger's girlfriend. Would very much recommend it. 8.5/10

You think we've played 209 times in pompey's 111 year history? So nearly twice every season? This MUST be counting non-competitive matches. -

No, that would be the plan that has seen him bring in two hopeful trialists, focus on the football, give many youngsters a run-out and keep several out of contract players hanging around the club, all within 5 days of being manager. I don't class Eastleigh as a warm-up match as i fully expect atleast half that squad to not be first team regulars or to leave by August 8th.
-
Pearson proved last season that leicester that he is a good manager, and i'm not going to judge Wotte on just 18 games, with no money and no unity at the club. I am, however, impressed with his pre-season plans so far.

Saints Wins Draws Pompey Wins League 14 8 8 FA Cup 4 0 0 Lea Cup 1 0 0 Total 19 8 8 And that is going back to 1905 HTH -
Left-back, gobern seemed confused. I would say upfront but BWP and John weren't playing, but we may need cover if one leaves. And somebody out wide who can swing the ball in, James could do it but then we need a right-back.
-
Laregely uninspiring performance it has to be said. First half was propbably the best availible team we have with the current players on contract, but Eastleigh were by far the better side and we had nothing upfront. Good communication from Wotton and Bialkowski but Rasiak seemed as though he had nothing to prove (and therefore did sweet FA).Their disallowed goal was correct and bartosz made an excellent save on half time. Second half was almost a completely different side, with forecast in goal and a very young squad out pitch. Patterson looked up for it and we had a blonde midfielder who was quick and confident when taking players on. Ball was played along the ground and cross-field, unlike the constant hoof-ball in the first half. This created chances and led to the goal. Eastleigh were still a threat however and forecast made several good saves towards the end. Still a lot of work needed and more players to be brought in.
-
Yep, i'll be there.
-
Grey kit i'd imagine, like last season.
-
Good experienced defender, Wotte isn't wasting any time.
-
Really good news. Someone that is happy to play for us and would score a hatful of goals in league 1! Wotte seems to be already on the case for next season.
-
An "apalling bunch" from which we've made £2.5m from just 2 "poncy lightweight" midefielders. When fit Lee Holmes was one of our best players, Birmingham in the league cup being a prime example. Glad he's injured at the moment, gives us more chance of keeping him.
-
Atleast any takeover doesn't quite look dead in the water just yet... But I was thinking, I realise the club can't sell season tickets yet, but surely they can put tickets for the Ajax game on sale. It may not be a huge amount of money but surely at this crucial time every little helps?
-
If the league still believe we are in administration then we have until october 2010 before they kick us out the league. It's about how long we have to find a buyer to negotiate our football league licence, before our finances run out. Hence the sale of players. I think.
-
We don't have a licence to play in the football league, but can play pre-season friendlies. I just can't see it going ahead with a depleted squad, few coaches and no manager.
-
Does Fry mean the sale of players will enable the club to pay wages, and possibly buy us some more time?
