    Due Diligence

Can someone just clear up something for me. Pinnacle have completed due diligence, yes? I thought the payment of the £500,000 was to enable the preferred bidder to do exactly that? Have Pinnacle just paid the £500,000 just to keep the others at bay, to enable them to complete the deal then? Apologies if I have not been paying enough attention.....
  2. Swindon, as it will only take me 30 minutes to get there, which is a good hour less than it takes me to get to St.Mary's. Looking forward to negotiating The Magic Roundabout again. I was one of the first to negotiate it. I had to get from Old Town to Gorse Hill at just before 8am on the first morning. God was that confusing.
  3. Excellent piece TT. My period of Saints addiction almost exactly matches yours. I just hope that better days will be ahead again now.
  4. That is a real downer. I was always proud that we were not one of the herd and went our own way, even if the editorial line left something to be desired at times. The whole "one size fits all" approach of Sky stinks to be quite honest and I can't say that I like the look and feel of the other clubs sites. Locking off a lot of the content to subscribers only seems typical of Sky's whole approach and not really fitting the ethics of the working mans game. In fact I hate what Sky has done to football in general, but that is a whole different thread I feel!
  5. I would be careful about putting too much faith in "plans". I still remember being suckered by Michael Wilde's "plans" .........
  6. I would just like to say how much I have enjoyed this thread for several reasons : 1. The initial post for giving me hope again. 2. For teaching me a lot about grammar and punctuation, that I will now probably ignore. 3. For teaching me a lot about various Irish footballers that I had largely forgotten. 4. For teaching me stuff about U2 that I had mostly ignored in the past.
  7. The natural pessimist in me, forged over the last few years of continual disappointment, says that there will be no takeover, but everything will be broken up. If we manage to rescue something like a football club out of that, then I will feel we have done well.
  8. I see from this thread that nothing has happened/is happening .......
  9. I think the most likely thing now is total silence until we are told either that A) Saints have been bought, or B) that SLH is to be broken up in the absence of a realistic bid for the whole thing.
  10. It's called a recession.......
  11. Every day, for I can't remember how long, I have been thinking of a rusty old sign I saw somewhere in New Zealand on the side of a bar. It read : Free Beer Tomorrow Of course tomorrow never comes, but in this case, just perhaps, it will. and you realise that it is already Friday morning in New Zealand?

    press conference

Precisely, although TBF, calling someone a goose is hardly the worst insult in the world. I quite like geese myself.
  13. I have just walked past The Rec in Bath and the pitch looks better than St.Mary's. PS. I know that the point was ground sharing, but there.
  14. 12 pages of rumours and counter rumour. Wonderful. From a couple of Guernsey wide boys to Sir Philip Green. I forget, was Paul Allen mentioned anywhere? I agree that ending up in the Blue Square Premier seems a strong possibility at the moment. Maybe I won't cancel that Setanta subscription just yet.
  15. Surely Lowe's reputation is just so damaged now that no-one will touch him? He might believe that he was totally blameless, but everyone else can see through him. Can't they?!
  16. Sean O'Driscoll maybe, none of the others though. As an alternative, how about Nigel Adkins at S c u n thorpe Utd. Achieved promotion from Div 1 on zero resources and although they were relegated I remember the team played good attacking football and gave us a fright at St.Marys. Has stuck with them, although they might just be fading from the playoff places, it could mean he would consider a change.

    Wotte Vs Pearson

He has what is arguably the greatest attribute of a manager. He is lucky. Lucky that he was able to come to a rubbish side and very theatrically keep us up on the last day. He was lucky he was then able to avoid being manager of this train wreck of a club and take over an inferior club and succeed most emphatically. He will pass us on his way up. Who's laughing now. Bitter? Me?
  18. There was a long shot of Saints fans after the third goal went in and I really felt for them. They all looked shell shocked and ashamed. Just as I felt at that moment, but at least I wasn't on national tv .....
  19. I used to live just around the corner from the Brockenhurst ground and remember seeing Stevie Williams playing there for Saints 'A'. Bit of a sobering thought, but Wimbledon have done really well, so far and Scarborough are setting off along a similar route. It may be years, but those clubs will prosper, because they are founded on a solid base by fans. They have just got to beware that they don't let 'businessmen' in the back door.
  20. 4-5 to Saints!
  21. What a start! Thanks for the tv link as well. (I think!) Watching it with commentary from 5Live Xtra. Think I will turn it all off. I blame SueW.
  22. According to the OS the address for support is support.saintstvonline@Level3.com So I have emailed them.... PS and saintstv@saintsfc.co.uk for good measure.
  23. Have just been told that Lowe will be interviewed by Jeff Randall on Sky News at 7.30pm tomorrow. That should be interesting, if you have seen any other JR interviews. In fact an interesting and challenging day all round tomorrow....
  24. Rasiak is an out and out striker and selfish to boot. That's what makes good strikers great, but Euell is what we need now. He is a hard worker, he encourages the other players, he leads by example. With two other strikers on the pitch in Saga and McG, he has less pressure to get goals every game. The three we have at the moment all compliment each other in various ways. That is partly why we have scored 7 goals in 3 games. So, given the choice, Euell every time.
