    Meeting Today

A friend has just texted me to say that on Radio Solent they have just said that Rupert only was intending to go to Staplewood for a pep talk and the Echo has mis-represented the meeting. Can anyone confirm that this is what Radio Solent said?
  2. How low is low? Does this count?
  3. As with a couple of others, that name rings a bell. I am sure that there was a picture posted during the pre-season of this bloke standing on the sidelines talking to both Rupert and JP. It was the general conclusion that he was a Dutch agent, possibly JP's, but I could be wrong and frequently am!

  5. If he is being interviewed as chairman of the trust, as opposed to being interviewed as an individual who happens to be chairman of the trust, then I would expect him to consider the official view of the trust. That could well be something entirely different to the view of the majority of fans. Simple really.
  6. I can't ever remember that he or any interviewer have claimed that he does. He is speaking for himself, as the highest profile Saints supporter that was available. If anyone thinks they can do better on a regular basis, then go ahead, knock yourself out. Until that moment arrives, constant whinging (and that is all it is) about the pros and cons of what Nick does, or doesn't say, is utterly futile. I often disagree with him (particularly over his less than lukewarm appraisal of Pearson), but will always stand up for his right to say it.
  7. Agreed. It is quite possible to manage a team on restricted finance. Just look at Swansea. http://www.myswans.co.uk/news/Prospering-very-nicely,-TA.aspx According to that, the whole of last week-ends first team cost less than £1m. They beat Reading 2-0 and Dyer was a star apparently.....

    A plea

Can we PLEASE at least spell the name of our goalkeeper right? Every bl**dy day I come on here to see our player of the season described as Kevin Davies or, on a good day, Kelvin Davies. FFS, he is Kelvin Davis Thankyou for your attention. Rant over.
  9. I guess this so called transfer has now gone the way of the Dailly one. Not going to happen. Were we not going to be taken over today as well???? Personally I am looking forward to seeing the home débuts of two players and the return of another tomorrow.
  10. I am just hoping that ManCity don't complete the Kaka deal before the weekend, leaving us free to trump whatever offer they make ACMilan.... Is it just me, or does anyone else feel a small tinge of resentment that ManCity could contemplate spending that much money, when £91m would clear our total debt and leave plenty left over to spend on improving the team??!
  11. Agreed. The two articles need to be looked at together. While the first is really just putting Rupert's side, as the figures are startling, the second is a good summation of how we see things at the club. At this rate I will start reading the Echo again .....
  12. Maybe we could save a bit of money by making him Player/Manager. Might actually improve the team as well.
  13. As David Armstrong said on Radio Hampshire after the game, we just don't get to the byline and cross back into the box enough. We continually seem to be trying to walk the ball into the net. I also thought that Lallana seems to have caught the Fernandes "crop circle" disease.
  14. I got through on that number at about 9.10am, after wasting time on the 0800 system. No problem, straight through. Very helpful. All done. One of my colleagues tried just now and got a very unhelpful person saying that this was an admin number, not a booking line, but did eventually grudgingly help.
  15. If the gates continue at below the break even figure, why is it a surprise that we will have to sell players? It isn't rocket science. You could make a case for blaming those that could go to the games, but choose not to do so......
  16. LOL! Was it Skacel's fault they scored a consolation goal then?
  17. God, how awful. Was talking about her to a near neighbour at the game last night. His wife is a steward as well and he has taken this news hard, even though he doesn't actually know Paula that well. Sincere condolences to the family.
  18. All seems fair comment to me. It will take something fairly dramatic to happen between now and the season ticket renewal time for me to even consider renewing. Really, I have just had enough. I do sometimes enjoy games and the kids certainly do try. In fact Robertson's goal against Norwich was the best I have seen for several seasons. Trouble is, I have had the enthusiasm gradually beaten out of me and life is too short to go through this for another season. Might be different if I was in my teens or twenties, but I am not and feel I need to say farewell to Saints and move on. Seems a sad way to end after following Saints for the best part of 36 years. Thanks Rupert and Co.
  19. and a common tactic of his. It was just that no one twigged it this time, it was picked up on here and before you could say "Feck off Rupert" it was a fully grown rumour with a life of it's own. As others have observed, serious thing t'internet ......

    Crowd today

17,454 apparently. Pretty decent crowd. Guess we will be back to 14K for the Coventry game .....
  21. Absolutely gutted Their goalie should have been off, the first penalty was probably the worst taken I have ever seen. Pathetic. The second, Wotton did everything right, but their goalie didn't move. Robertson missed an open goal from a very narrow angle, having nicked the ball from the goalie. McGoldrick was unmarked in front of goal, but I wouldn't have passed to him, so why should I expect Robertson to. McGoldrick missed a one on one with the keeper. With the exception of the three set piece goals, Watford were very poor. How the hell did we contrive NOT to win that match?? Can't find it in me to be critical of the youngsters. They are all individually skilled, but they still make catastrophic mistakes two or three times per game. What do you expect though, when Wotton is the only outfield player over 21?! Bugger seems the word to best sum things up.
  22. It's logic like that that will make it happen. ---- or not. Disclaimer : This is/may be nothing, or not, to do with any possible/rumoured takeover thread.
  23. Good crystal ball you have there trousers .....
  24. and you can stop that right now ....
  25. More of the same! Forecast, John, Pekhart, Paterson, Dyer, Hatch, Thomson
