Mate, I really feel for our new guy, whoever he is. If we are not 3 nil up within the first 15 minutes of our first game of the season, I can see his tenure being very, very short. Match threads last season, absolutely priceless - we have some right fickles on here - personally, just for the LOL's I can't wait.

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
Micky replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Shock and awe is a legitimate military tactic designed to try to destabilise and demoralize enemy forces with an initial show of strength and fire power. It's purpose is to try to bring about an end to prolonged hostilities, which failed during Desert Storm. I can assure you that after this initial tactic most British ground forces would have been focused on wining the hearts and minds of the local population. Believe it or not, British service personnel are highly trained individuals who are actually pretty good at what they do. They respond to terror related incidents all around the globe, they do not incite such incidents. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk -
Sorry but this made me laugh a little - it's very easy to display such principles when it's not your money. Very noble attitude and all that - but if that 80 million pounds were yours, where would your principles be then?

It's not about telling them to f*ck off though - that's the easy bit. It's about managing a player who doesn't want to be at this club, wants to be elsewhere and whose head is likely gone. F*ck off is easy. What happens next aint.

You said I was writing people off, I wasn't. I didn't write off Claude, I was willing to go with him for another season, I think that's called supporting the manager, not writing him off. Now that he has gone though, I will be getting behind the new man, and supporting him as well - I hope they give him more than one season. My issue is, and always has been, that it will be hard to improve on the position we finished and cup run that we had. Total support here, not writing anybody off at all. For all the abuse you have already received / are going to receive, I hate to say it but I tend to agree with you. I've always maintained that you may not like how he played, but CP got us to Wembley and 8th. I don't think it is going to be easy to top that, it could actually be hampering the search for CP's replacement. We may well play much nicer football next year, but bettering our end result might well be very difficult. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

You're losing your faculties there Red, old crazy horse passed away some 12 - 13 years ago. Mind you, you're right - a top, top bloke - met him once and he was just diamond.

So has Giggs, but I wouldn't go near him with a barge-pole.

Ryan Betrand taking action in support of Grenfell Tower victims
Micky replied to CB Fry's topic in The Saints
A lot of the papers picking up on it now as well. Seems to be a very grounded young man does our Ryan. Well done and good luck to him. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/news-and-comment/grenfell-tower-fire-ryan-betrand-offers http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-4614012/Ryan-Bertrand-pledges-volunteer-Grenfell-Tower.html Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk -

I echo all the positives on the thread thus far. It's recognition for services to his country's sporting achievements, and certainly deserved in my opinion. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

I have never understood this one, I just don't get it. Either he has a massive ego and is arrogant beyond compare, or is totally confident in his own ability to manage at the highest level with no previous experience whatsoever. Either way, I really don't want to take the chance with him.

This, sometimes it just doesn't work out. I still believe he did OK with the hand he was dealt and wish him all the best for the future. Time for the players to step up to the plate now. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

I think JT's legs are shot to be honest. Think he might offer more of the field than on it, not sure that Bournemouths budget stretches to that kind of signing really. Sent from my SM-T580 using Tapatalk

Just lifted this explanation from said thread: This is being locked for a while. The main reason is that some of the stuff written about Southampton and their fans in the last 20 pages or so is ****ing embarrassing. The attitude of some people is that the club should just bend over and give us their best player without a whimper. It's just ridiculous. I'm not suggesting for a moment that they've been hard done by in recent years, as we've paid reasonable prices for each of the players signed from them. But I can completely understand the frustration of their fans that every year we swoop in and sign their best players, whether Southampton's policy is as a selling club or otherwise. IF Southampton gave us, and whoever else, permission to speak to VVD, then this is all bluster and ********. But there's no proof it is yet. Similarly, the idea that Klopp and/or the club have made improper approaches to the player is also unfounded and seems to be based on media reports. But given the nature of the briefing and the sudden "reveal" of the news, I can entirely understand why, if no permission was given, they and their fans would be ****ed off. It's not hard to imagine the shoe being on the other foot. We have lost players who have been publically courted by other clubs (Suarez) and may do so again in the future (Coutinho for one). They've signed him to a new long term contract, and he is a Southampton player. They're under no obligation to sell him to us however much it may upset the player or LFC. They may of course do so, but the idea that they "have to" is a joke and we'd be ****ing livid if Coutinho came out, said he wanted to play for Barce, and then Barce fans came along and said we "had to" sell him. It may be the prudent choice but it's far from an obligation. This isn't a Southampton forum so we're not asking people to post glowing comments about the club, but some of the ****e has been ridiculous. They ain't all bad you know...

But these are the bestest, most passionate managers in the world dontchaknow. (So long as they wave their arms about a lot as well). -

Yep - you're right - 8th in the Premier League - but a total shambles. Just imagine what the 80 odd clubs behind us are like...!!!
