Why would you bother whipping a ball into the oppositions box when you can play it back to the half way line and retain possession ffs.
-
I reckon 36 - 38, will do it this season which we should limp to, but given our early season promise, the implosion that we have managed to achieve since then, is spectacular to say the least.

Team bus speeding home from Newcastle.

Is there a '9 Man Newcastle Thrash Saints' headline yet...?
-
I've got to try to take the positives out of that, 3 - 1 down all half time, all I wanted was not to lose more goals. We did it, and we scored as well...! We are woeful. We probably need another 8 points for safety, anybody who thinks we are not rapidly joining the bottom half fight needs to think again. There was never, ever any elephant in the room, never. I wouldn't worry too much about losing Ings at the end of the season, JWP will be gone as well. 9 men, 9, and we blew it. 9 is becoming a number synonymous with the total capitulation that is Southampton FC. Bloody embarrassing.

We could play till Xmas and not score.
-
You'll be royally disappointed then. I see nothing more than another drubbing. We are shot.
-
We are shambolic. I don't care if we lose the game, the number one priority now is not to concede any more. How many teams go to St James Park and concede 3 in the first half, not fucking many. Time to park the bus, we are obviously only going to get royally embarrassed if we dont change, so park the bus and get back to the training ground. Time for Ralph to show that he can react to the circumstances, and time for the players to show some bollocks when the going gets tough.

The BBC and Adam Blackmore would appear to disagree. Southampton request Mike Dean and Lee Mason do not officiate games - https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/55922560

Dumb and dumber having a field day ripping us to shreds on TalkSport drive right now. Giving Ralphs pelters....

It's not often we're on first you know...!

I'm going to watch MOTD.

Anybody got a link to the highlights...?

Ahhh right yeah, just seen that.

Agree with you to a certain extent there. We actually got unlucky because immediately after the handball the ball went out of play, and so the referee knew he didn't have to make a decision about the penalty straight away. Had the ball stayed in he would've had to make a decision, had he given a penalty (which I think is probably quite likely), how many on field refs have been overruled by VAR?
-
If it was decided in the ground tonight the score would've been the same, the referee never gave the penalty, and the linesman flagged for the second one.
-
We can sit and blame the officials and VAR all we like, but you're right we need to be much more positive going forwards. But we're not, we stop, mess about in midfield and invariably all of our possession comes to nothing. I thought Redmond was meant to be a tricky wide player. He gets the ball and stands still, when was the last time you saw him try to take on his man, or knock it past him and run. His final ball in is usually crap as well, and as we saw tonight, when it does fall to him in the box he'll scuff it or blaze it over. Yes VAR and the officials did us no favors tonight but we were pretty woeful in the final third tonight.

What a pile of shyte
-
We ain't scoring tonight
-
We could play till midnight and there's no way we will score. Time for Shane Long....
-
Don't reckon we'll need 40, 35-38 will probably do it this season.
-
For all our possession we created the square root of nothing. Villa were woeful in that half as well, they can only be better in the second. I have absolutely zero confidence that we have the balls to get back into this. Another loss coming up, our early season form has saved us this season. We'll limp over in 14th or 15th.

As predicted...

Total domination of the football, we all know what happens next....
