  1. .....but what a mutually encouraging and supportive message it would be if the fans found the money themselves without relying on Cortese to make up any shortfall.
  2. McLeish to West Ham? Whoops. Forgot about Big Sam :-(
  3. Is there anything in the notion that Fiona Bruce was chosen to interview His Dukeness because of her experience on the Antiques Roadshow?
  4. More pertinently for Saints fans is the fact that we`ll now have our own page back on teletext - now we`re a Championship club again :-)
  5. I quite like The Cowherds to be fair.
  6. I see the referee for the Hartlepool game is Scott Mathieson, who refereed the JPT Final at Wembley. Thought he was excellent then - hope he`s as good tomorrow night.
  7. You assume correctly, for football has a language all of its own. I find it quite fascinating and whilst I agree that some of NA`s pronouncements may seem puzzling, closer analysis reveals that he is developing his own brand of footyspeak to go with his tendency to refer to himself in the third person. It might not be too long before we have an outburst of seagulls and trawlers.
  8. Well, I guess that Saturday just wasn`t meant to be, so at the end of the day I think we should wake up, smell the coffee, draw a line under it and move on to be fair.
  9. I think this is the bit of Martin Samuel`s report that is of interest:- "If reports alleging that Ali Al Faraj, the former owner of Portsmouth, did not exist are true, this is no longer a matter for the football authorities but the fraud squad. There comes a point where the plight of this sorry club no longer becomes a cheap punchline or a morality tale for the sports pages, and it has been reached. Passport details were provided to the Premier League for screening as part of a fit and proper persons test, and if these were to prove false a serious offence has been committed. If police were to summon the evasive Al Faraj for questioning, who would turn up? Surely it is worth finding out." It sure is!!
  10. To be fair, that`s hardly a claim to fame, as such.
  11. ....and possibly another one. It`s alleged that `aledgedly` might be spelt `allegedly.` Possibly. To be fair.
  12. I like the cut of his jib tbf.
  13. Green and gold were the colours of Newton Heath, the club from which ManUre developed. A bit like Saints developing from St. Mary`s Church Young Mens Association. Difference is that ManUre are still knobs. HTH
  14. I always buy one. I read them in the bath. I`ve got a big collection of soggy programmes. HTH, tbf.
  15. Spiffing result chaps. Jolly good show.
  16. Andy Gray, who seems able only to state the bleedin` obvious and who constantly says, "I have to say." No you don`t. You`re a twonk. So there.
  17. I was called up to do my National Service between February 1960 and February 1962, a total of 731 days. You count the days when you get conscripted without any choice! I spent the most miserable time doing `basic training` in Catterick, N. Yorkshire, where I was taught to march up and down, turn left, turn right, even turn around. Thereafter I spent the rest of the time in Germany (BFPO 16) in an armoured cavalry regiment (10th Royal Hussars.) Although I resented the conscription and having 731 days of my life stolen from me for a weekly `wage` that never rose above 21/6 (about £1.8p) I have never really regretted it. I made friends then that, thanks to the shared experience, I still have to this day. It was also a learning curve for life and I like to think I probably benefitted for having gone through it. Not sure the army did though.
  18. The judge must be awaiting psychological reports before issuing his judgement?
  19. http://www.hytheferry.co.uk/extra.mhtml?page_no=1&count-num=440557 At the bottom it confirms no service on Christmas Day or Boxing Day
  20. It`s always difficult to comment from a distance, but I get the feeling that Cortese asked for the information not to be published in the Echo before a certain time - a common embargo often issued on press releases. If the Echo breached that embargo, then they deserve everything they get, as it`s clear they can`t be trusted. So, whilst it may be a bit of a storm in a teacup, at least the Echo now know not to mess with Cortese and we should be grateful we have a club that is managed by someone with some managerial balls rather than the managerial fits of pique we had under the old regime. Saints 1 - Echo 0.

    danny ****tu

Can`t see it happening myself, to be fair.
  22. I actually feel sorry for the lad. Can`t have been easy for him. Maybe the loan will lead to other things and I for one wish him well.
  23. I`m quite glad we`re out of it. The Premiership is a make believe parallel universe where arrogance and excess abound. It has become distasteful and I just wonder how long it will be before the `top 4` bugger off to a Euro league and leave the rest of us in peace and with something realistic to aim for. Either that or the whole thing might implode on itself due to financial meltdown and/or `customer disatisfaction.`
