  1. Keep going lads - amazing turnaround after such a nervous start. Fantastic effort lets get to half time and regroup.
  2. We. Will. Get. Hammered unless we get ourselves sorted out fast!
  3. Solid and workmanlike Saints - excellent and crucial 3 points. Fulham are gone - woeful performance from them. JWP and Redmond I though excellent, defence all very solid. Good to have Bertrand back too. Valery is a solid defender but offers little going forward. I can't remember him crossing the ball or beating a man? Hopefully he can improve his attacking side. Great to see another win at home - we are much happier than the Fulham lot - they were most unhappy with Ranieri's substitutions, and their lot in life in general. Goes to prove spending loads doesn't always equal success.
  4. I’d have long up front with Austin so he can create some chances for him with his pace!
  5. Apart from they've let in 61 goals and we have let in 46.....which kind of disproves that theory! In fact they have the worst defence in the premier league...
  6. You’re right, I’d neglected Austin - I was thinking of starting players, I just think Austin is too slow and unfit to start - better against a tiring team? Our forward options are just so meh it hurts. I just hope, our owner Gao doesn’t think youth players are the answer to everything. If our future is youth players, not quality signings, we are done for. If not this season, it’ll be next. We are just so poor, so many substandard players in the squad, such poor recruitment, shortsightedness, seemingly tightness.
  7. 2-0 doesn’t dent the goal difference too much, better result than I feared looking at our feeble line up. Fulham is an absolute must win now, but it is for them too, should be an interesting game! Playing with no striker from the start shows how feeble our squad now is. Where the goals are supposed to come from with Ings and now obefemi out I have no idea. Releasing Gabbi seems an even stranger decision. Wednesday our choices are Long or Gallagher - that’s a league 1 strike force..... As others have said, win on Wednesday and this predictable result (and performance) will be forgotten. Lose or draw? Jesus the meltdown will be Chernobyl like.... We are struggling, we are playing poorly, we have injury woes, but for some unfathomable reason, I think we will just about scrape through this season and survive. Just.
  8. Wow - that lineup looks like we have rolled over ready to have our tummies tickled already! I hope I’m very wrong, but 4-1 Arsenal. Our goal will be an own goal!
  9. There isn’t a single Cardiff player that I wish Saints had. Hence I think our (slightly) better quality and tactics will see us through with a win!! I hope!
  10. 2-0 to Saints, our team quality will overcome Cardiff’s limited attributes. They are a championship side who have spent very little. Hard work and effort will only take them so far.... Hopefully!!
  11. I’d like a Saints team that is as good as it can be, plays an enjoyable to watch football style (it’s certainly improving, but clearly our current players are limited), and starts to recruit wisely!! Yeah I know the recruitment bit can be hit and miss, but we’ve had a hell of a lot more misses than hits recently... Some pacey players in the summer will help, we are very pedestrian all over the pitch, and pace is key if you want some measure of success. Academy players are fine, but only if good enough. Slattery starting today kind of suggests our squad is very limited versus what Koeman had. You’d normally blood young players as subs coming on with 10 minutes to go.... Shows how weak our squad is really. * yes I realise a number of sure starters are injured/away currently.
  12. Well played Saints - the whole team played well, good performance all round. Very solid from the midfield, Hoj was really driving us on and getting stuck in and being a general pain in the neck to Everton the whole game. Fab. Great JWP goal, he had a very good game as well. Redmond and Ings run their socks off, pressing Everton’s defence and keeper. Really good to see. Defended well, I thought Stephens was going to go all the way late in the second half! Good stuff boys, Ralph you legend!! Proud to be a Saints fan again tonight - keep it going, three in a row next week....
  13. Absolutely BRILLIANT Saints. Fab back to the wall performance. Shane Long mom for me just because of the relentless slagging our ‘fans’ give him. * Romeu blimmin’ good as well!!
  14. Shane Long well done! An assist and a goal. Shows what the average fan knows!!
  15. Ings. Lemina. Bertrand. Cedric. Hoijberg. Yoshida. All of them would be stronger than what we have. So there are four more to add to your two!
  16. Shane Long has loads of pace and a great work rate too....
  17. They’ve got an owner who puts cash into the club.....we haven’t
  18. It worked for Wolves yesterday.....who knows? Could be inspired thinking, could be an insipid performance - the joys of being a Saints fan!!
  19. Just got in from the game, disappointed to say the least! We seemed slow all over the pitch tonight, the lack of pace in our side is so clear to see. Lemina - had one of those games where nothing went right for him. The pinnacle of his turdness was a pass in the first half that should have gone wide left to targett, but he under hit it about 20 yards to the right of him. Awful. But players have good and bad games, many of the others didn’t cover themselves in glory either! Vestergaard I thought played well, Romeu too, albeit he looked a yard off the pace throughout the game? Full backs couldn’t get into the game, Valery never went down the outside, always came inside denying us width. Targett just looks slow. Better as a left midfielder that a wing back maybe? Ings didn’t get into it, Redmond had no joy all night either. We didn’t create a decent chance all night other than the scrambled goal, which we did our best to try and miss! Long barely had a touch when he came on, needs to be upfront with another striker, not on his own. Credit to West Ham, they deserved the win. Their quality signing Anderson was a cut above everyone else, and they looked energetic and quick on the counter. Not sure about their first goal - from the family stand it looked hard and straight at the near post - both myself and my lad thought it may have been a suspect keeper moment - not seen a tv replay so may be doing McCarthy a disservice there. Need to recover quickly with City up next, hopefully our performance will be better (even if the outcome isn’t....)
  20. Looking forward to tonight, full house, under the lights, we will beat the “East End geezers” 3-1. I hope!
  21. Thought our pressing and closing down pressured Arsenal nicely. Loved our quicker ball forward, after two years of turgid slow build up play, having real intent in our forward play was fantastic to see. Three quality headed goals, assists for Redmond and Long, a great days Work Saints. Yeah, some dodgy moments at the back, but let’s enjoy the win. At last. Ralph - legendary status awaits!!
  22. Slow? Yes. Disgusting wages? Yes. But average players? No way. If they were average we would be tenth in the league. Most of our squad are mediocre, poor, squad fillers, of below average quality. That’s why we are struggling - poor players, poor recruitment.
  23. The way a team can play can be far better than the sum total of it’s individual players. Burnley last season, Bournemouth this season, Leicester winning the league etc. That’s what the right manager can bring, formation, tactics, system, fitness, belief, confidence etc. We aren’t going to sell ten and bring five in in January - we are fundamentally going to have to turn things around with what we have got here now. I’m sure the club will have faith that he is the right man to do this, and he will find away to get us winning. I Hope!!
  24. Didn’t feel Soulless when we equalised against Man U in the League cup Final.....anything but in fact
  25. 1) Get the team fit. It’s abundantly clear that they are not as fit as they could or should be. 2) Find a way of grinding out a win or two - we just can’t hold a lead currently. 3) Find a formation and line up he likes and stick with it. 4) Assuming we stay up (not a given) he needs to sort the wheat from the chaff and try and get the misfits **** of in the summer. We have a big squad of averageness, need a cull of the dead wood - if we can get them shifted. 5) Please get us some home wins!!
