  1. Tadic is a left footer played on the right, Redmond a righty played on the left... So they can do it, not sure it doesn't make us amazingly predictable though...oh look, redmond/Tadic are out wide and cutting across the edge of the area. Who'd have thought it....seemingly all of our opposition!!
  2. Excitement on the terrace is driven by excitement on the pitch... Go figure... two games in 11 we have scored in
  3. Palace haven't scored all season. We can't score for toffee. Surely, logic says a nailed on 0-0 draw?! Not that football is logical ever!
  4. Sadly, you swear and go, being rude, and don't even realise we have actually lost 2 games. Wolves reserves and Watford. So get your facts right before berating others eh?
  5. Sure have. Saints v Arsenal, Boxing Day - handed their arses to them on a plate 4-0 Saints. Cuco's amazing strike, but Long and Mané played in a 4-4-2. Brilliant stuff. Best performance from us at home in a very long time There two big central defenders didn't know what to do. Ball played on the deck through the middle with pace running onto it. If that's the result of 4-4-2 I'm all for it. Gets my vote
  6. Totally agree. I think a big part of the problem is playing Redmond and Tadic on the wrong wings - a lefty on the right and a righty on the left will always result in the tedious pass the ball from one side of the opponents box to the other, as our wingers come inside onto their stronger foot and the defenders have a simple time ushering them inside knowing full well their shooting from distance is, umm, less than great! We need the AM's to take the full backs on, beat them and cut the ball back low across the box, hugely unlikely when on the wrong wing, and I struggle to remember Redmond actually ever taking a full back on in a foot race, outpacing him, and getting a ball in from the bye line. High crosses into the box are a waste of time, we have no one of sufficient height to get on the end of it anyway, when outnumbered by defenders it makes the likelihood even less... So for all JWP's best crossing in the premier league attributes, it doesn't help our team score. How many assists did he get last year with his amazing crosses...
  7. Completely agree. Really glad we've got him for another 3 years - a great model pro.
  8. The reason we conceded two goals at the weekend was not because our keeper is poor. It is because our defending was poor. Lets not make up facts so we can blame the keeper again. Lets ignore his excellent save into his chest from a close range first half header, the fact that we allowed Antonio to turn and shoot far too easily in our box, the fact it deflected before getting to a (I'm fairly sure) unsighted Forster who would have seen it late, and lets ignore that our defenders were nowhere to be seen to get to the rebound first. Lets also ignore the excellent save from the unmarked by our defenders Sakho which he was unlucky to see come off of the bar straight to Hernandez, who to give him credit was sharp. So, if it fits that you want to blame the keeper, carry on. On Saturday, I don't see how he was to blame. Last season, yes, he had some terrible games, Saturday was not one. I would like to see him be a bit more like Joe Hart with balls into the box - Hart I thought made some good punches clear that I know Fraser wouldn't have come for, but culpability for the goals conceded, no way!!
  9. Well, for what it's worth, my kids love making lots of noise with them! Not often my boys get told to make as much noise as they want, unless they're at the footy of course
  10. Good feelings return - Saints to win 2-0
  11. Hey, go easy on him, he chipped in £5 of his dole money to pay to post on here, he's not all bad Oh, no he didn't, typical northener...
  12. He who keeps looking backwards can never see where they are going...
  13. Depends if the play inspires the fans or not... Last season desperately dull. Hopefully the new manager is somewhat more progressive at home...
  14. Hopefully Yoshida is okay to play after injury yesterday. If he is:- 1-1 Usual first game, it'll be disjointed and horrible and we'll scramble a draw. Hopefully! If Yoshida is out and bednarek plays - nailed on loss. He is nowhere near premier quality yet, and we'll get beat. Need to sign a quality cb regardless of vvd's outcome.
  15. That is because spurs man for man are better than us. How many Saints players would get in the spurs first team? Two? VVD and possibly Bertrand maybe? They are not selling their players who are at an excellent level. We're not selling ours who in general are average/good. We need to sign players, they don't. Easy. If spurs did put a for sale sign up, top teams from all over Europe would be knocking on the door - can't say that would be the case with Saints, we are just nowhere near spurs level sadly.

    New Captain

    Romeu.
  17. It wasn't shameful he was sacked, it was shameful that the club took ages to do it after the season had finished. As usual it set the whole preparation for the new season and recruitment back by a month. Our football at home was absolutely turgid last season. 90% of supporters could see that, and it had to change. A few happy claps were content, but as a season ticket holder I have never been so bored as watching the tripe Puel's side dished up. The ultimate statement of his limited style was playing for a 0-0 draw at home to Hapoel. If people wonder why VVD wants out, you only need to have seen his expression after that game. Disappointed and ****ed off that we went out with a whimper. The guy wants to win, and I can see why he wants out. As we have shown zero ambition in recruitment, and most fans can see we are 3 players short in dm, cb, and am. How do we know VVD didn't find out there was to be no recruitment and decided well sod that I'm off then? Obviously he takes the flak, club smells of roses. As always when our better players want out, it's never the club's fault...?
  18. Spot on with your observation, I hope your last sentence is also true...
  19. Thankfully our 2nd and 3rd choice defenders....for a reason. They're not good enough to be first choice
  20. Umm, no thanks But it would be nice to hear something...!!
  21. Just realised it's our Ralph Krueger! So anonymous I'd forgotten who he is!! I s'pose he's on his summer holidays...
  22. Who is RK from the last season? I have no idea
  23. Fab signing for Leicester. He will do well, and Leicester will double their money. Eveyone's a winner I really really wish we had gone for him - an upgrade on all our forwards bar gabbiadini, who is a different style anyway.
  24. That would be an amazing outcome, like it
  25. Or he could be the next Ali dia. In which case, don't
