Just Watched motd, and having seen the 2nd Watford goal, I do have some sympathy for the match officials. At normal, as it happened speed on TV it wasn't obvious that it was handball. I can see how it was missed by the officials. If McCarthy had come out and claimed the ball it simply wouldn't have happened anyway... Sadly, ultimate blame is at the managers door. Sat back and tried to take 2-0, should have carried on the way we were first half. Watford subs were astute, ours, umm, were not.

Get set for an afternoon with saints being bullied and harried all match. Like the home game, Watford big and pacy, Saints slow and small. U12’s v men again... I hope I’m wrong...
-
Disappointing that both are poor in the air, and we are playing a big physical team today...
-
I never realised it was first versus second
-
Why oh why can we not play two upfront?? Has it been banned or something by the FA? Boring, negative line up. Just typical of our manager, play it safe at a championship side, try and sneak a 1-0 or 0-0. God he doesn't learn does he?
-
If watching the youth players is that exciting, why not just watch the U23's every game? They're playing crap too, so should be a home from home !! We played the sell everyone and play the youth team when we went down last time. We got relegated, works a treat!
-
Or Redmond as our defence destroying Mané replacement...
-
Now is the not the time to be taking a gamble on an unproven player, when we are in a relegation dogfight. We need to splash the cash on PROVEN premier league players. If we go down the cheaper, foreign import route, who knows what we are going to get? He will need time to settle in, and we don't have time on our side. I'm hoping that this is a false alarm, and we are after someone more prolific & experienced. May as well buy Crouch for 3 million as this guy!!
-
2 points actually, you're bigging us up ;(
-
But we only have 17 games left...
-
Great, unexpected point Saints. Fab performance, but for a worldie save from de Gea, Long would have won it for us. Good stuff boys, there is hope
-
2-0 to them. We will park the bus, but not quite between the white lines, thus allowing a couple of close range defensive muck up type goals. Pellegrino will tell us we played well (but still lost), and so it will continue....
-
Whoever we sign need to be PROVEN premier league players. No foreign unknowns who have never played here, no ones for the future. Proven, experienced PL players who know what it's about. Straight into the first 11, immediate enhancements to what we have. E.G. Sell Redmond/jwp/Gardos/Tadic/ Macarthy/Bednarek/Long and buy 3 maybe 4 first team starters. We have a bloated squad of averageness, time to cull numbers and improve quality. Dependant on us being able to shift the deadwood, and attract decent replacements. Big If I know...
-
Andy Carroll. Or a player similar to him, would definitely help us up front. Not I'm sure, a popular choice, but he's a real handful, and what we desperately need up front. Discuss!
-
Bingo. I totally agree with you. It would appear that some posters now view Puel as some kind of shining beacon of brilliance. Not so. Last season our home form was absolutely rubbish. It is again this season. Both Puel and Pellegrino's teams play the same dull, possession based risk free stiflingly boring brand of 'football'. Both were and are terrible. Anyone who thinks Puel, retrospectively was some kind of Management genius is clearly suffering from a memory illness.
-
Exactly this. Credit where credit is due, our manager did a great job last night at nullifying the best team in the country, possibly Europe. Before kick off, I'd have happily taken a 2-1 loss, shows how well we played to be gutted we didn't get a point out of it. Well played Saints, 2 consecutive decent performances, now for another one, and 3 points off of Bournemouth
-
Out. Poor recruitment of players and managers last two years. Dithered over sacking Puel, other than Lemina and Gabbiadini, not a lot of positives to be had
-
Out. Not learning from his mistakes, unwilling to be flexible in his approach. Must go. No different to the boring football from last year. And Puel is not suddenly brilliant either. He was also a cr4p manager.

Swansea to definitely go - poor squad, poor form. WBA to go - worst form in the league this year, no sign of it improving either. Third team to go - as other have mentioned any one from :- West Ham, Huddersfield (early season success will give way to reality, and a struggle to score points), Brighton (squad is limited if injuries to first choices occurred), Saints - if you can't score, winning is going to be a challenge - change of approach (less caution, more bravado going forward will, I'm sure turn it around), if Pellegrino will do it, if he won't, a really challenging season awaits, tough games to come in next 2 months, 11 games Vs big 6 over the season remain, will see us sink lower over November and December. Trying to recruit anyone decent (if we indeed even try to) will be difficult if we are on the cusp of the bottom 3 in January. Stoke I believe will battle their way safe, Bournemouth will play their way safe... Fingers crossed that MP sees sense and changes our style of play...

Play like Burnley/West Brom etc play away from home, 10 men behind the ball, leave Long up front just in case we get a foot race break away ball, play for 0-0. We might get beat 1-0, we might sneak a 1-0 win. Our players should be good at playing for a 0-0... The point could well be very important at the end of the season.
-
Exactly this. Romeu gave it straight back to them, when he should have put his foot through the ball, and wtf was Cedric doing trying to mark Murray? I say trying because he made a pretty poor go at winning the header considering he was in a good (goal side) position. Poor defending. I assume Forster was expecting it back across the goal, not near post. Romeu caused it, Cedric allowed it, Forster watched it...
-
A half volleyed header? Yeah, well let them have it ?
-
Imagine the meltdown if Forster did this... https://www.msn.com/en-gb/video/viral/hilarious-moment-goalkeeper-celebrates-penalty-save-before-ball-bounces-back-into-goal/vi-AAtVx1o?ocid=mailsignout Very amusing though!!
-
Nope it doesn't make it alright - I'm with you, 10 goals this year at home (4 of them against West Ham!) is pizzle poor. Yet people wonder why the atmosphere is poor at St Marys...fans react to what they are seeing - you watch crap, you will react in a similar way methinks!
-
But we scored 3 against Leicester and Palace at home in 2017...! So by maths, that's 6...
