  1. Spot on. Discrimination always is.
  2. I didn't even realise until recently that they were mis-quoting Adkins the whole time. He actually said "Well if they can keep with us", the false inclusion of 'up' makes it sound worse. *nudge wink* To be fair they don't seem to specifically harping on about that innocuous comment any more, though I'm surprised by the vitriol some still display towards Nige. A lot of very simple creatures amongst football fans...
  3. I too paid for my season ticket in full up-front but only received a book for matches 9-23. When I enquired via the ticket helpline they sent me a whole new booklet of slips via the post and merely asked me to destroy the one sent to me in error. Expected to have to go down to the TO and hand the incorrect one in - they saved me a job but a little negligent perhaps. Still got it on the side at home, might keep it as a memento, haha. It was a pretty widespread c*ck-up but hopefully shouldn't now affect those who paid in instalments. I expect a whole load of booklets have just been sent out for games 1-23
  4. Do you mean nothing like Partridge? It is him - the (and arguably funnier) clip is from The Day Today!
  5. Surely the pitch surface would start to take a pounding if we allowed a multitude of other events to take place on it though? Rather not do it for that reason, and wait for when (or if?) we're selling out home games and need the extra space on a regular basis.
  6. First game available in the incorrect season ticket books - 'unofficial' 40,000 attendance anyone?

    Forte on his way?

Despite the criticisms of him, I get the feeling that he could be a better player with an extended run of playing time and build of confidence. Likely not with us however. If he goes then I'll never forget his significant cameos, but overall I'd think it a mutually beneficial move.
  8. Ever since I started walking home past the King Alfred and St. Mary's Street we've won every game at SMS. I always tweet on my mobile whilst doing so. Working so far!
  9. Quite happy to have the best football and worst interval TBH
  10. No, according to my girlfriend Lee Barnard is most certainly not fit.

    Passing stats

Quite. A good number of our games at home in the record-breaking run have followed the same pattern: start brightly and take the lead; suffer a bit of pressure as the opposition dig their heels in; settle down again and play possession football; score another (or two) late on after holding the ball for 20 minutes. It works. How are your opponents going to score if they don't have the ball? I think the main difference with away games is that we've not had the luxury of as many opportunities to control the game at the pace we like.
  12. I've painted it onto the bedroom ceiling. Bit of a pain when all of the teams below us change position though.
  13. I never post in threads like this because I'm pathetically bad at coming up with chants, but surely there's enough possibilities that this shouldn't be such hard work?! This is probably extra-cringeworthy but what about taking the "...what a w*nker" template (example: "Steve McClaren, What a w*nker, What a w*nker") and using "Steve de Ridder, What a winger, What a winger"? Obviously with less ferocity towards the subject... It does let you get a nice elongation on the 'Schteeeeeeeve' though Yep, that's a bloody awful suggestion but I've typed this now so I'm damn well clicking 'Submit Reply'.
  14. No, common sense prevailed on this occasion.
  15. These threads only serve to make me more nervous on matchdays! I believe 'one game at a time' is the mantra that a certain N. Adkins will employ. Actually he just claims not to know about these records (if you'll believe that)
  16. If you offered me 20 points from that lot I'd snap your arm off for them. 2 point average per game is plenty, almost certainly title-winning form.
  17. Daftly it seems lets you vote as many times as you like. Would certainly explain how quickly the Oxford lad's goal caught up in the poll.
  18. Putting my 'trying not to get carried away' hat firmly on I'd say that 9 or 10 points would see us through a solid enough month. 12+ would be simply fantastic but let's take them one game at a time eh...
  19. Sure, tar us all with that same brush... For what it's worth I had a proper go at the ****s waving their season tickets as they walked up the steps (ironically only just in time for them to see the start of the match - superfans indeed). We're not all like that in Block 42 by some margin!
  20. Much shorter thread this one, isn't it? Controversy and outrage get people talking and sell papers. The number of people suckered into the basic model The Sun and other tabloids work upon is consistently amusing (albeit scary). Not to mention the fact that the original argument on here was petty at best. Let's hope there's no dividing the club as it stands. Onwards and upwards, together as one
  21. Yep, I was going to suggest the Alex as they always tend to show Saints (and do food), but my girlfriend just pointed out that it may not be a child-friendly pub. Best place to go if they'll let him in though. Varsity definitely don't allow under-18s in at any time.

    Block 1,2 and 3

Piped up well I thought - especially bearing in mind that there was likely a large number of people in 1, 2 and 3 that aren't regulars.. Great to have vocal fans either side of the away support. From Block 42 I had no idea whether the West Ham fans were loud or not because the Northam/Itchen North end of the stadium was rocking virtually all game.
  23. No, but I'll text you goal updates at a pound a pop. Could get quite expensive the way we're playing at the moment!
  24. It should do, if your Android phone has Flash. Alternatively you can download the Football League app and choose Southampton when you first load it up. That pulls all of the news from the OS and lets you see the Player videos, albeit you have to pay a subscription even if you have a player one. Think it worked out as something like £13.99 for a year to get the videos through the app.
  25. Haha, sadly not too far from the truth. Why pay to watch a game then leave your seat 35 mins into each half? Rather miss out on a beer and queue to leave the ground than miss a Saints goal.
