  1. Replace that useless t0sser with somebody who has even a slight understanding of the game and you'd be about right. James or Antonio would at least be a starting point.:smt116 Now imo we are good enough in terms of quality. We should be confident of a top 6 place imo! 2. Yes and did exactly what with him - hardly been a regular has he? Compare the £1m received for him with that shelled out for Lambert - the best bit of business (OK the two deals were unrelated, I know) since Davies went to Blackburn for Zillions and Beattie came the other way for half a crown.
  3. Interesting, but give me Hammond rather than Pele any day - what did he ever do for us (other than the obvious penalty)? I'd also take the Lambert of now over the Jones of then (how people forget) - the Jones since he left, and just before, well that's a different kettle of fish. On the other hand I'd take the Connolly of now over the Rasiak of now, but probably not over the Rasiak of then. I think that makes sense?
  4. Overly aggressive perhaps in which case I apologize, but you can't dismiss it as "mistaken about the dates". He is 55. The smogs had finished by the time he was born (or at best a toddler). He says that he "remembers" them - how can that be explained by being confused about the dates?
  5. You Sir, are a liar. The "infamous smogs" you refer to were in the early 1950s. There were NONE in the 1960s. If you are indeed 55 then you were born in 1953 or 1954. You cannot POSSIBLY remember the "infamous smogs" You are either: (a) Lying (b) Mistaken about your age © Referring to some weird sort of smog found in an entirely different planet that nobody has previously heard about (d) OR I am wrong about the dates for the great smogs of London before the Clean Air Acts - please supply supporting evidence and I will gladly retract.
  6. Peter Green - greatest british guitarist of all. FM Mark 2 would have been OK if they'd called themselves something else - Buckingham-Nicks or something - anything but Fleetwood Mac! For me the greatest example of Green's genius outside of the obvious (Man of the World, Green Manalishi, Oh Well etc.) try "Jumping at Shadows" from "Boston Blues" Live Album - peerless - makes Eric Clapton sound like the lightweight that he really was!
  7. Just make sure you avoid getting a lift from a complete cvnt like this bloke. Does anyone on here know this R Soul???!!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/hampshire/8402703.stm :smt074
  8. Wassa matter you? Ne sprachan ti pas Swiss?
  9. Hmmmm.. I wonder if he would be any more succesful for us than the previous sibling of an international player we had - BWP!?
  10. Well obviously as we are DEFINITELY getting promoted by the playoffs (see other topics on this forum for proof of this) then we would have to bet the whole lot on such an outcome. Even at odds of say 10-1 we would clear 50,000,000 (plus the original 5!). Think what we could do with that! That's right put it all on promotion to the Prem in 2011!
  11. Hmmm he looked spent in the second half against Wycombe as well. Is there a problem with him? I hope not as I consider him to be THE key player in our armoury.
  12. Strong. Interesting after all the Papa v Antonio debate that neither is in the starting eleven - quite right too IMHO.
  13. Laughable. The "headless chicken" description describes Papa much better than it does Antonio. The degree of support for Papa on this thread has truly shocked and surprised me - I think he's clueless.
  14. i don't believe you!
  15. Thank God for your post! I was beginning to think I was going mad or had been at a different match to most other posters. His constant being caught offside was crass and unforgivable at any level of football. I had a pretty good view last night (and on previous occasions) and found very little to quibble about with the linesmans' decisions. Far from bewitching everyone (officials, other players and fans alike) with his electric undoubted speed he was on several occasions standing in an off side position (by a couple of yards at one point) waiting for a through ball, showing no awareness as to where the last defender was. Antonio wasn't great last night but has shown much more in previous games especially when pushed out further wide and looks a far better player than Papa will ever be. On another point Lambert looked completely knackered towards the end of the game - why was he not replaced?
  16. A headline to bring cheer to all on a dreary morning! http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/8367045.stm :smt040
  17. Absolutely. Tragic news. I would put him (at his peak) ahead of all the current crop (Defoe, Crouch, Heskey, Owen, Agbonlahor etc.) apart from Rooney. What a pair they would have made!
  18. Surely you could bring yourself to cheer on whoever is playing against Poot's Muff??!! :smt063 :smt030
  19. Perhaps the misunderstanding came about by "cult" being a misspelling??
  20. Totally agree - headless chicken award goes to him. But I can remember Fuller and Jones fulfilling thatb description and look atthem now! As for the rest of them the one that stands out for me is certainly Delap who was simply shocking at times and regularly hounded by the terraces (sounds painful):smt107
  21. Isn't there case for the Mods to make an exception to the "No Personal Abuse" rule for this (obviously allegedly) utterly brain dead waste of space? He has a long history of posting his moronic, neanderthal, thuggish, intolerant, tribal thoughts on this site - all IMO of course - and deserves all the (non-violent!) abuse that may come his way. The Nottarf Krap lot would be proud to have such a specimen in their midsts.
  22. What short memories! Personally I thought that for the second half of last season he was our best outfield player, showing great improvement after a shakey start where he looked out of his depth (along with the similarly improved Lloyd James). Although he looked a bit lost when he finally appeared again earlier this season, I think he has real potential at a higher level than Div3 and he's still very young.
  23. It depends on what you mean by "best" pedant. Do you mean the most pedantic pedant? (which begs the question of whether or not there are degrees of pedantry - a bit like "uniqueness", soemthing either is or isn't. Alternatively you may mean some other quality of pedant such as loudness, forcefulness of argument, popularity etc..........zzzzzzzzzz........:smt009 Really, you need to be more specific!! :smt075
  24. Obviously I meant the latter - this is contagious!
