It would be fitting that the 50.000th post would be the announcement of AFC Pompey and thus the end of this saga. Only problem is: Sagas used to be story-telling songs - who is composing the lyrics and tune of this song?

Tardis then!

Can someone please explain how a WUP can be considered "brinkmanship" instead of end game, when looking at P*mpey?

Best bit of business Southampton have ever done

My shout would be Claus Lundekvam from Brann and Michael Svensson from Troyes. Defensive stallwarts at £500.000 and £2.6 mill. £3.1 for the best defensive partnership ever.... -
Thank God he's not joining us!! He's nothing but a liability with a Bendther-sort of attitude....

How long untill pay-day? :-) This really feels like the end of PFC. They really need a 11th hour saviour right now, but with all the debts and outstanding loans and previous owners hanging around the carcass, the only people mental enough to even look at Portsmouth are the ones without any money, but only a desire to get their name in the papers. All this coming from AA at the moment, is nothing but b*llocks. He's stalling for time and trying to keep the few hoping for a solution. No-one in their right mind, would throw that much money into such a dying club. Just to clear the debts to previous owners is a herculian task at best, not to mention you'll be dealing with Gaydamack and Chanrai, who are only interested in getting paid. It's time to dismantle Fratton Park, sell what remains and look to a new beginning at Moneyfields.
-
I have another solution to this problem: Liquidate and bury the club! There's no need, rule or anything that demands Pompey's existence.... just kick the club out of the Leauge (as the Swiss did with Neuchatel) and let the club die.

Can't wait for names to be released on these buyers, so we can do all the research that should have been done before this proposed take-over.
-
David Prutton came in with all the whistles and bells of being midfielder of the new era - and cocked it all up. Kenwyne Jones was heralded as the new Beattie - cocked it all up, when he went on strike.

Sometimes I honestly don't get you Alps... Most of the time, you're arguing over the lack of activity in the transfer marked, seeing it as the club is not being ambitious enough. Now we've signed two new players, one being a loan, that can be send back. Jos has been here a while and seems fully integrated. And now that's exciting and bad at the same time?! In all your time arguing for more signings, now all of a sudden you're concerned about destabilizing the team?

Would have to agree with most posters on Marsden, Case, Davis and Williams, but would like to add another name to the discussion: Jason Dodd. We got him for peanuts from Bath, and turned into a club legend. Don't think anyone has gotten that much for the £50k-ish Bath got for him.

AA's bit from The Independent: "I was involved in the background at Southampton in 2009. Their administrators, rather like us, had a number of parties interested and were pursued by one main one who didn't have the wherewithal to perform. "I actually introduced them, through a third party, to the current owner, but before that Southampton were looking down the barrel of a gun. It was an 11th-hour deal." So.... "working in the background", sounds to me: "I wasn't really involved, and you can't confirm that I was." "...introduced them, through a third party, to the current owner....", again sounds like "I didn't meet with Marcus and Nicola, but somebody else did, when I might have been in the room"... Looking at this, with his administration of Swindon, http://footballmanagement.wordpress.com/2010/06/05/the-very-strange-case-of-swindon-town/ , it all sounds like he's taking credit for somehow being involved with every single football club in administration, just to boost his own ego. A quick google of "Southampton Administration Andrew Andronikou" just gives nothing, but this claim made by AA himself. Did however also produce this old gem: http://www.twohundredpercent.net/?p=5438

We havn't had any rich Africans or South American "business-men" involved in this saga yet. Only a South African bank, that wanted out.... rightly so. So I'm guessing a Columbian "coffee-merchant" or a Nigerian "millionaire" with some blood money, that needs a landry.

FFS... How anyone in Portsmouth has any kind of hopes on this Cala character would be the man to take them forward, is beyond comprehension. He couldn't even complete the take-over of Salernitana FFS. The man has no money what so ever. Even I have got more money than this guy! Nothing but time wasting ******** by AA. Just hurry up and die, p*mpey. You're a ****ing disgrace in your current state.

Are they still considering this joker, or have they not been updated on this thread?

Did a quick Google on Joseph Cala and his actions at Salernitana: http://www.calcioblog.it/post/16160/colpo-di-scena-alla-salernitana-lamericano-cala-rinuncia Google translated: Unexpected epilogue in the tender for the sale of Salerno by Antonio Lombardi Italian American entrepreneur Joseph Cala. This afternoon, a notary of Vallo della Lucania, was in fact terminated the contract of sale, through the use of Lombardi's "termination clause for non-compliance." After just over ten days in which Cala had started with ringing declarations, promising campaigns Pharaonic purchases, promotion to Serie A two seasons and even a listing of clubs, fans of the dream ends up in smoke grenade. The trouble started a few days ago, when the U.S. had harshly attacked the current president because of unpaid back wages to members, which might order the team to a further penalty in the rankings, in addition to the three points already imposed previously at the club Campania. This situation is rapidly precipitated, blasting the deal between the two. Lombardo, who returned unexpectedly in the saddle, said he was ready to save the company from bankruptcy and has already named the sporting director Nicola Salerno and the Director General Antonio Loschiavo. Over the next few days, however, the current owner could give back all the shares. In fact, the city has begun to speak insistently of the interest on the part of a group of entrepreneurs in Naples, headed by Engineer Darius Boldoni, former vice-president of the Naples at the time of Corrado Ferlaino, and own brother of the former owner of Naples' Maradona was. For now, it would, however, only items which were not supported by any of the protagonists. So apparantly he couldn't meet all the terms of the sale and had to give up his takeover after just over 10 days..... Loaded?! I think not.

You mean, you'll be OK playing at Moneyfields? :-)
-
Funniest thing I've ever read.....apart from Corp Ho on the saga in the lounge.
-
This just goes to prove that all this talk about signing Sharp, Rhodes etc. is lower than the caliber of players, who Nicola and Nigel actually think are worth going after. We're looking at future England internationals, not Leauge 1 strikers. We've signed Jack Cork and is just about to close the deal on a future Japanese international in Tadanari Lee.

Did a bit of news-surfing after this.... seems the whole contry might collaps after this, so I'll imagine, whoever takes charge is going to do everything, if not more, to hold on to power... and in N.Korea, that means being more nuts than the previous guy.

One nutter replaced by his own son, who's even more nuts.... N.Korea is f*cked for even more years, sadly.
