  1. With Utaka leaving the score isn't 0-0 Sorry sods can't even keep track of the one transfer they did in January.
  2. There's a reason, no one has seen him outside the training ground. He's clearly no where near as good as KD or Bart. A host of different managers has all seen this, and I've trusted in all our managers apart from the last Dutchman. You're right in saying no-one gets better by sitting on the bench, but he didn't impress at Grimsby. Now moved a leauge down from that. If he couldn't command a longer stay at a leauge 2 side, why should we keep him on the books?
  3. Could be the reason for the off-field stuff. Lack of interest and consistency.
  4. We don't seem to be able to get the best out of him. Apparantly off-field issues with Adkins. He performed better at MK Dons and Millwall than at Saints.
  5. Went unoticed here, but has joined Eastbourne on loan according to the BBC. Mind you - only for a month. Ticks another box for this transfer window for me. Getting rid of more deadwood.
  6. Just read in a Danish paper, that central defender Andreas Bjelland of FC Nordsjaelland,, turned down an offer from Club Bruges on the ewe of transfer deadline day. Bjelland is 20 and on the verge of breaking into the Danish National XI, having a solid debut against The Czechs. He's got the calm style play like Claus, only better, IMHO. Would be a great addition to the squad, if we get promoted. Oh, and his agent is former Saint GK Michael Stensgaard.
  7. Well, we know how much money they'll get on the Carroll-deal... .Let's get our hands on about half of that
  8. They need to bring in somebody!!! Otherwise they'll be f*cked for the remainder of the season. Loving how "finances" now finally seems to be the reason for not joining Pompey, not even on loan.
  9. How they came to 19 players: 5 loanees, 1 player on a month-to-month deal, Cifti (who wants out), 8 players (and they can't/will not play 2 of those anymore because of contract clauses. 2 others are constantly injured) and 5 first years "who await their fate at the end of their deals"... makes 19.... of which 6 could be retained. So the number is actually only 13 of which 5 are loans and can be replaced with 5 new ones.... so they deffo loose 9 players of their own... not 19....
  10. Agree with Telfer, he was slated at times, but he made space for A. Svensson and Fernandes to shine. Other players that allowed others to shine: Maddison, Oakley and Widdrington. All gave room to MLT.
  11. Am I the only one of the opinion, that these "buy-buy-buy"-reactions, are starting to sound more and more like something Pompey supporters would say? We have one of the best squads in Leauge 1 (yes, we're still a 3rd tier team), who quite recently replaced 73% of our starting XI in a game against a Premier Leauge squad and still won 2-0 with comfort. How many other teams, even playing in the leauge above us, can do this? We have great talent on our books, we have a number of young players getting involved with the first team, we have even more making their mark in the Academy. We've loaned out an LB, who is making the grade in the Championship. We still have to get rid of about 4 players, 3 of whom are just a waste of space at the club. Our defence is solid, our midfield has in most games been in control and strikers are... well take look at the table. Why should we bring in anyone, if they aren't any better than what we already got in the starting XI? Do we really need any more players, when we're got cover for 73% of the starting XI? Why do some people want to buy everything, when we're in a position to let home-grown talent get a chance to make it in one of the best teams in the leauge? Why bring in extra expensive players, when their wages could be used to give better contracts to home-grown players, who deserve a new contract? Cortese has on numerous occations stated, that he wants to emulate Barcelona, and play more home-grown players rather than expensive transfers, if they are capable of meeting the mark. I fully agree with and support this point of view. It gives me an enormous sense of pride, knowing that most of our players came through our own ranks. The quick-fix buy succes... well, take a look at the state of Liverpool and Pompey. Do we really want to end up like that?
  12. Alpine - naturally you are allowed your opinions, but by God you're getting tedious, bothersome and provoking.
  13. As with common assault, if someone is being charged for the first time it is unlikely that they will go to prison with a fine the usual outcome. Again, if the offender has previous convictions or if they were proven to have had a particular motivation for the attack, specifically if it is racially motivated this could however lead to a prison sentence. So Barnard could be looking at either: Pre-meditated assault resulting in minor, non-permanent injury; Starting Point: 24 weeks custody, Sentencing Range: 12-36 weeks custody or Other assault resulting in minor, non-permanent injury: Starting Point: Community Order (HIGH), Sentencing Range: Community Order (MEDIUM) - 26 weeks custody
  14. Completely agree! We are still trying to get rid of some deadwood (Wotton, Pulis, Forecast, Holmes) and players like Reeves, McNish, Saville and Doble are at a point of "make-or-break" at Saints. We got talent waiting in the wings, as Dean, Ward-Prowse & Holdace-Spooner. We got young talent involved the first team in AOC, Gobern & Aaron Martin. We don't need cover at the moment, unless one of the first-teamers are sold - and apart from Puncheon, which may not happen anyway, that doens't seem to be the case. I'd rather give the opportunity to the kids, instead of signing an expensive back-up.
  15. When is £5 mill a give-away? That's not leaving for free. Sure, it's half his valuation..... but then again: How reliable is any info in the Mail?
  16. I have every confidence in the club, the players, the size of the squad, the manager and the chairman. I don't see any need to strengthen the squad at present. I would rather wait till the summer window, with more free transfers being available. With the re-signing of Lallana, adding Chaplow and Guly (?) on permanent contracts while not having to sell any players at present, is more than a sign of strength IMHO. It shows me, that the club is willing to leave open a couple of spots in case of injury/suspension to the kids, which falls perfectly into place with Cortese's plan of establishing a club with a lot of homegrown talent. Look at this from the perspective of a 17-year old Academy player: The first team is doing very good, but the club is leaving posibilities open for you to prove yourself. Had that been me, I would work and train even harder to be ready for that day and opportunity.
  17. Yeah... sorry for the typo. But do we have a song for Seaborne?
  18. Guly: Now that's what I call a bus! Never mind the taxi b*ll*cks!
  19. Just wondering. We heap loads of praise on Lallana, Lambert, Chamberlain.... but who is the unsong hero so far this season? Barnard sure deserves a lot of credit. And our midfield is getting better and better, with Chaplow adding the extra bite to Hammond and Spiderman. Both of them have improved because of Chaplow. IMHO it's got to be one of the back four. Fonte gets all the credit, but Dickson and Richardson are doing their jobs very quietly and efficiently, but that was expected of both of them. I would go with Seaborne. He's been making loads of progress so far and has wastly improved this season. If he continues this, the pairing of Fonte/Seaborne in the center of our defence, brings back memories of Svensson/Lundekvam.
  20. Wouldn't you get fined for taking a pizz on the bus?
  21. Never feel sorry for beating another team. I feel sorry for players, having a nightmare game, but never for the team. I have respect for every opponent we face, but I'm always the eternal optimist, believing we'll win every game.
  22. But then we're not going anywhere!? The bus needs to be moving! It's too easy getting on a parked bus!
  23. How about renaming the entire sewer system in his "cough" honor?
  24. Love the stripes, keep a yellow away kit and the white with red sash as third kit.
