What have they acted amatuerishly on?
-
I wont consider him a proper chairman until he mentions offering to stay behind and help clean the team bus or offered to buy all the fans a pint but wasnt allowed by the oppositions chairman.
-
Okay fine, so you'll believe some rumours, just not all of them, especially when they fit with your stance of the board needing to grow a pair. I'm glad we got that straight.
-
Have we had any confirmation on this from anyone at either Saints, Liverpool or Man united? Where is your proof? Please provide your source. Im sure you must have one as they must be more than just be rumours and paper talk if you believe them.
-
So you dont believe Liverpool are interested in Lallana and Man United in Shaw?
-
Good point, that one line shows why Corteses was talking out of his arse and all the suckers on here that believed him probably still believe in easter bunnies.
-
Fine, you dont believe he was offered a new deal, instead choosing to believe that the board have done nothing and need to grow a pair. Rumours are just rumours, or something...
-
You dont believe they offered him a deal and just let him wealk out then, fine, dont believe it.
-
Yep, they offered him a deal, he didn't want to sign it so they made him resign. What else could they do? I know that wont fit in with the demands for pressure and statements from some on here but if someone doesn't want to be here, afterall he did threaten to quit twice before, then they dont want to be here. Ambiton and vision are words that are banned about here a lot. Yet the ambtions that have changed are that of the players. This time last year Adam Lallana had his wedding booked for this summer, he was that certain he wouldn't be in the England world cup squad. A year on he's in it, linked with champions league clubs and contracts worth double what he;s on here. That would have happened if Cortese was here or not, it would be financial suicide to offer him the same deal as they can and if you cant offer them what they want and thye can get it elsewhere what choice do you have? No vague promises of champions league football one day is going to counteract an offer of it tomorrow, with one of the biggest clubs in Europe for twice the money you're on. It's no wonder his head has been turned, yet some are blaming the board for lacking ambition. Cortese can spout of all he wants and fans can believe what he says about everyone being here if he was still here, how ambitous he was, but the fact of the matter is he was never tested and quit before he was able to be.

Should we hold a vote of No Confidence in the Board, or...

If people had said 18 months ago we were bringing David Moyes in to replace Nigel Adkins the ambiton and drive of the chairman would have been lauded. He was grossly underqualified for the Man United job which would have been the toughest challenge even for the most successful of managers. He's a great manager for a club like us and like you say wont jump ship quickly or even be considered for a bigger job after the Man United fiasco. He made some good astute signings in Arteta, Lescott, Baines, Cahill, Jagiekla etc. if we want someone to stick around for 5 years and establish us a top half club then he'd be a good choice. If he's on the boards radar, wants the job or we'll pay him what he wants is another matter. -

He also did it on a very limited budget and had to sell before he could buy for many years. Yet some people are turning their nose up at him because it's fashionable at the moment to make him out the be a clueless clown. -

Do we aspire to be a top half club that reaches a cup final and has an outside shot at the champions league and sometimes breaks into the top 6, or isn't that good enough for you? -
He doesn't need to, they've got something like 20 odd players out on loan, very good ones too. Anyway just saying, should we get him as manager and should Chelsea want to loan him out then we'd surely have a good chance of getting him, which would be a good thing as he's quality. Two hypotheical scenarios.
-
Another plus of getting Yakin is that we would have a very good chance of picking up Salah when Chelsea loan him out next season.

CORTESE - a personal and factual view of why Ms Liebherr was right.
Turkish replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Yep, he did say a while back that if the Liebherrs wouldn't back him then he know plenty of people that would. I wonder where they are. -
We we will never know because you say he quit when the tapped was turned off and the "Vision" fell apart. You can speculate at what might have happened all along. The fact of the matter is that you believe once Kat pulled the credit card away after losing faith in his decisions after supporting him on the signings of "Gashton" and Osvaldo he was off. So his vision depended entirely on the support of the person who is still there and you are claiming is part of rabble representing a leadership vaccum.
-
But you say Kat closed her purse due to losing faith with Corteses decisions. He walked away when the funding stopped. So he was great playing a real life version football manager with a credit card, not so good when it reached it's limit. So his vision wasn't a vision at all. It was a more of a dream completely dependant on the owners who you say had lost faith in him. His 'vision' and that of the owners weren't aligned, if your bosses don't share you vision then it's isn't a vision at all. How would he have kept poch and the Players happy when the purse had been shut? How would he have explained that there was little budget for players this summer? Do you not think everyone would have seen the reality of his vision unfolding then so he got out whilst he could and play the hero saying none of it would have happened on his watch months later?
-
Good man, now were getting somewhere! So she closed her purse due to losing faith in the CEO, his decisions and his squandering of £27m + wages of her money did she? Surely if that's the case then it's good news he's all round he's gone and you were right about Cortese when you said other chairman saw him coming and he ran us like a crappy seaside B&B. so why the bleating from you they you wish he was still here?
-
Han on a minute. You were slagging 'gashton' off and I asked you who found him and agreed his contract and who has failed to get the best out of him. You the went into a fat fingered keyboard thumping rant about Kat. So is she to blame for signing Ramirez and Osvaldo or not? It's quite simple, you implied she was.
-
So Katrina was to blame for signing those players was she?! As for closing her purse, so you're saying cortese was fine as CEO when he had access to the Liebherrs credit card but when the going got tough, when he actually had to make a bit of cash rather than simply spend it on The signings Katrina wanted to make he back to Italy. That is genius tubby, even by your standards
-
Is that his fault? Who scouted him? Who signed him? Who offered him the contract on that much money? Who hasn't been able to get the best out of him? Same with Osvaldo. The worst signing our club has ever made considering the fees involved yet no one will attach any blame to the former chairman and manager using the 'every club makes bad signings' mongboard get out clause. It's not like the warning signs weren't there with him though was it.

CORTESE - a personal and factual view of why Ms Liebherr was right.
Turkish replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Cortese admitted that we couldn't compete with the top clubs financially and said we would have to find another way to compete at the top, 'not if but how' so do we take it he couldn't and he quit as soon as the tap was turned off? So much for finding another way. -
He certainly looks the part. Every inch the premier league manager. The likes of Sean Dyce, Redknapp, Pardew etc will be well beaten before they've chosen their zonal or man marking defensive system for dead balls.
-
Then quit before you have to make good on your promises, then do an interview 5 months later saying how different it would have been had you stayed, perhaps?
