  1. what it says is that of the near on £40m on 14 players that has been spent in the last 3 transfer windows we've only signed 4 players who were good enough to be first choice starters in the premier league.
  2. You'll be pleased to know I am now a member of the 3 series owners club.
  3. 6 of the players that started last Saturday were with us in L1, with Shaw as a youth product 7 of our starting 11 were here before Adkins was and 4 were signed by Adkins/Cortese/Reed. So Let's look at his/their transfer record. Boruc Hooliveld Fox Davis De Ridder Lee Sharp Gazzaniga Mayuka Rodriguez I make that a combined fee of about £20m in the last 3 windows and not one of the outfield players would make our first team if everyone was fit. The two goal keepers are no real improvment on Davis.Says a lot about our transfer policy.
  4. The queues are far smaller now than they used to be. When you have 30,000 people, most of them trying to get In within 20 minutes of each other it's inevitable. The bar code scanners reduce queuing time and queues. This is worth a booking fee charge alone IMO.
  5. So when some managers as successful with money we are told on here it's only because they have money they couldn't do it without it. However if Nige is a sucess its because he's a brilliant manager doing a great job regardless of the money he had compared to our rivals, if he isn't successful it's because the money he had wasn't spent wisely by others, yes?
  6. I agree. But will those on here who critise other managers success as being purely down to money also claim Nige wouldn't have kept us up without it? It would only be fair if they did.
  7. As ive always said, if we stay up then he's done well. My original point was though was that some of our fans belittle the achievements of some managers by saying they are only any good when they have money to spend. By that yardstick then surely they will also be critical of Nigel unless we finish midtable, as he too has spent significant sums of money.
  8. We had an extra season to rebuild after our relegation. In Schniderlin, Fonte, K Davis, Lambert, Lallana and Puncheon we had players at the club when Adkins took over that started our last home game in the Premier league and have arguably been some of our best players this season, with the obvious exception of Davis. Im by no means belittling what Adkins has done, he still had to find a winning forumla but to say he had to rebuild and it was tougher for us than it was for Norwich is rose tinted nonsense. We've spent double what they have in the same period and he inherited a team in L1 where over half of them have since proven themselves to be capable of performing in the premier league.
  9. The better side won. Torres missed a sitter again.
  10. Have you forgotten they lost 7-1 at home on the opening day of the season they got promoted from L1?! Great side!
  11. It seems so, 1 point infraction please.
  12. Norwich route to the premier league was exactly the same as ours, they've established themselves by spending half what we have in one season less. They've also had a managerial change in that time.
  13. Yep, agree fully. As someone that has recieved a number of infractions for supposedly sarcastic and pointless comments and was given one only the other day, 2 points for "insulting another forum member" for joking calling MiltonRoader a skate c*nt, (like dozens of others have) and patronisingly told to grow up by Just Mike it's totally hilarious and pathetic the reaction of the mods on this. Not that i agree with infraction points on an internet forum by the way. Funny how they are happy to dish them out like confetti for sometimes and totally bottle it on others.
  14. Exactly this. He is very good at finding players and getting them to play in a cohesive unit. It does make me laugh how some on here claim he bankrupts clubs and point to Pompey as an example of this. Convieniently ignoring the successsion of corrupt owners and the fact that he made huge profits on Sully Muntari, Defoe, Glen Johnson and Diarra. He may be a c*nt but he's a very effective manager and like any manager, if you give him money he'll spend it.
  15. It wasn't in a pub but the first time i went to Marakesh i saw a young Morrocan lad on a scooter wearing a 2003 home shirt with Fernandes on the back.
  16. Dont they say managers are judged by results? In that case his results at the clubs you mention, plus West Ham and Spurs are very, very good.
  17. Would he have done it without money though? It's only fair to ask the question as a number of posters on here have criticised other managers regularly for only doing well when they have it.
  18. It's not what I would say, I would say the if we finish midtable he's done a fantastic job. But some of our other posters would surely not acclaim it as a success as they have critisised other managers for only being successful when they have money to spend. He coldnt do it with S****horpe when he had none. This is exactly the case with Nige is it not?
  19. Isn't a charge made reguarly against several managers that this fourm doesnt like that they only do well when they have money? By that same token Nigel has only done/will do well because he has had money. He didn't take S****horpe from L1 to midtable in the premier league did he.
  20. Wold you rather stay up and have 5 months to live or go down and have 7?
  21. I would say he is a terrible manager because he only got us to and promotion by spending money, he clearly needs money to succeed.
  22. Why don't you actually read the posts and understand them. No one is using the Villa game today to have a go at the club. It's the simple fact that by our own captains admission we were overawed by being lucky enough you play at Anfield.Villa went there and attacked with purpose and scored 3 goals, we barely registered a meaningful attempt on goal. We get it, we cant play well every week. The problem some of us have is more to do with Premeir league footballers being filled with wonder at playing at the home of a midtable side and a team who had been below us going there and scoring more goals than we had meaningful shots only two weeks ago.it's a marked difference in attitude.
  23. Why strange? I think it's a perfectly simple concept to grasp. If, like Brentford have, SFC said you can pay what you want for a ticket how much would you pay? It really isn't difficult. I thought it was a great idea and a top way to attract new fans and reward existing ones.
  24. So rather than taking the fact that it was our first game at Anfield and turn into into an inspiration for a great performance you're happy to accept it as an excuse not to turn up?
  25. Lol. Do you seriously think he would say he expects us to go down?!
