  1. Why not do both? We need to aim to do the quadruple. Reach for the moon and all that or something, if we aim to win all 4 we can settle for the champions league title, a top four finish and the league or FA cup.
  2. Chelsea fans are pric*s. why should Benetiz give a f*ck about them after the way they've carried on the whole time he's been there.
  3. Smack Alec? Do you take copious amounts of heroin by any chance?
  4. To be fair I'd hate to talk to me as well if I was made to look as consistently stupid as you do.
  5. I'm not sure what its like these days but when I was a kid it was always the big, quick and strong lads that made all the school teams, the small ones with more skill didn't get a look in. It was all about 'getting rid of it' 'get it long' 'get stuck in' etc. training for my tyro league side usually was a lap of riverside park, dribbling round cones, sprinting and then a 7 a side game. I can only really remember one teacher doing anything with us about technique.
  6. I agree with you, really like the bloke. Ive said a few times before about my pal who was on Saints books in the 90s, Dave Merrington was doing his youth team role then and my pal says he was just a top, top man. Really knowledgable about the game and loved by everyone at the club. Hilarious that a computer addict who uses statstics on a game to rate players would criticise the football knowledge of a guy who developed some of the best players this country had in the 90s.
  7. The label says 'Tuna in oil' or 'Tuna in water'. It is a relief to know that I can check the contents to confirm that a tin of tuna contains fish to eliminate any doubt.
  8. And quite right too. Luckily when I brought my monthly tuna supplies this month I checked the can and was delighted to see it contained fish. You cannot underestimate the relief I felt at purchasing the correct product.
  9. I think you'll find it was because he said with no new signings we could finish 6th. Point me to the part of the interview where Morgan said this, as i must be missing that and seeing things when he said we'll sign quality players.
  10. What would you say the main differences are between how English kids are coached and the other nations you mention?
  11. Which is the least you could expect for a £250m outlay, yes?
  12. In the same period that Moyes has been at Everton, Wenger has broken even whilst spending around £250m.
  13. Based on his £75m they've made a £47m profit from transfers in his time there. Whilst maintaining a consistent top 8 finishes. Overrated and not shrewd though.
  14. What about signings like Jagalka, Cahill, Baines, Lescott, Arteta and Howard whose combined fees were less than Jordan Henderson? Spent £75m sold players for £122m, with 6 top 8 finishes in the last 7 seasons. Find me another manager with such a good, consistent league record who has also made a profit on transfers.
  15. Yeah, he's a terrible manager isn't he.
  16. You're doing it in the right place, they look set to dominate international football for a few years. Loads of really good young players, I think evert midfielder and attacker in their last squad was under 25, with the exception of Podolski. They are saying Mario Gotze is the best talent for a generation.
  17. Good for you. Do you to think tis slightly odd that we should be aiming for a 6-9th placed finish and a cup run yet teams achieving this are described as having dull and mediocre seasons?
  18. Hilarious isn't it. Only last week we were told we should aim for 6-9th, but settle for 12th. now Swansea will than likely achieve up aim, as well as win a trophy we have never won and qualify for Europe its belittled as half meaningless season. Lets see how many of the divs on here claim we have a meaningless season next year should we finish 6-9th, you know our target position, the one where we so would really announce our arrival in the big time, but wait. Surely finsihing 6-9th is meaningless, I mean, we'll never seriously challenge for the champions league or be threated by relegation in these positions, what at awful, boring season fullfilling this forums targets would be. I'm never ceased to be amazed by the sh*t on here.

As I understood it it was because Gavin Davies had a group interested in buying sfc which would clearly have been better for the club but the secure retirement deal was better for existing board members as it enabled them to make a few quid and keep their shares.
  20. I'm going to stick my neck out here and say we won't make the champions league next season.
  21. You're right about that. People are all nostalgic about the Dell atmosphere and granted, for big games an for cup games, especially at night it was good but no better than anywhere else in the countey, in the main it was relatively quiet. I started out in the 80s on the Milton Road end and it was only a small group that stood under the family centre that made any noise and with the open terrace it didnt sound that loud in other parts of the ground. The noisiest part of the ground was the Lower East terrace in those days. When the seated Archers was given to away fans they were far louder than us most weeks. When we got the archers back the end looked and sounded decent, it was certainly louder then the Milton terrace and the noise generated on terraces. With everyone who wanted to sing in one place. That's the problem with SMS now, youve got effectively 3 singing areas, northam, kingsland and itchen north with the noise diluted. If everyone was on one place and created a kop then it would be so Much better. That said though SMS is far from the worst ground for atmopshere in the premier league.
  22. Lets face it, all the top leagues are overhyped. we've got the self titled 'greatest league in the world', then La Liga, which in reality only two teams can win, then you've got a handful of decent sides beneath that and the rest of the sides are pretty average, sound familiar? Same goes for Germany and Italy and France. With the top players from the lesser clubs being picked off by the biggers ones with the most money. All of the top teams from the top leagues are obsessed by becoming global brands and selling as much of their sh*te as is possible to as many people as possible. It's even spread here with people walking around in Barcelona tops, a middle aged bloke i used to work with who was a lifelong Watford fan now claims he's a Barcelona fan and clutters up my facebook feed every champions league game with his boring drivel about a club he supports when hehas never seen them play live, never been there and doesn't even live in the same country FFS. The fact of the matter is proper football culture is dead, at least as far as the top leagues in Europe go. These days it's all about having the club branded gear, atmospheres created by marketeers with piped music, drums and designated singing areas rather than the old days of proper terrace wit and banter with fans there for the football not 'matchday experience'. Buy this that and the other from the club shop, signing players from far afield countries to increase shirt sales there. A lot of people have become football consumers rather than football fans. It certainly isn't the same game i fell in love with in the early 80s that's for sure. All that mattered then was what went on on the pitch and catching glimpses of Steve Moran, Peter Shilton and Mark Dennis which would excit me for weeks before and after, not the 'matchday experience'
  23. The fact that people are talking about it means it shouldn't happen. Pitch invasions are for spontanious outpourings of emotions after securing an important result, ie wininng promotion, the league etc (im not a massive fan of pitch invasions for staying up, i dont consider narrowly not being sh*t enough to stay in the divison to be something to celebrate), when you start debating the rights and wrongs of if it should be done and if it is an appropriate occasion then it isn't.

Surely the fans back then were too busy lauding Guy Askhams decision making and business sense whilst supporting him in his ongoing feud with Mick Channon to give him any flack for Branfoots managerial performances?
