Fully agree, really? Do you really think throwing in a centre back who didn't look particularly good in the championship as a left back in the premier league is a sensible move? Or what about a 17 year old left back who has never started a league game that most people seem to have decided is th new Gareth Bale, despite only a few hundred fans actually seeing him play? And do you 'fully agree' that if Davis and Fox start on Saturday we should just accept relegation, as was suggested in the post you fully agree with?

I was told euring the summer that if Di Matteo didn't get the Chelsea job he was being lined up to replace Adkins. Also that Cortese didn't think Adkins has the status in the game to attract the players he wanted to bring to the club. This came from a very good source.

Too true Jamie. Just look at the difference Niemi made. Jones was competent but Niemi was on another level and worth 10-15 points a season. As I've said many times the goalkeepers and centre backs are the most important positions on the pitch and what everything else is built on, don't concede you don't lose. Unfortunately none of our players in those positions are good enough.

It isn't though. We've defended poorly, lost 4 games in a row and for whatever reason failed to address our weaknesses in a bungled transfer window. And crucially there is clearly tension between Adkins and Cortese. He's one of the favourites for the chop and there are lots of rumours going round that all is not well. Adkins himself seems like a man who knows time may be running out. Regardless of if we agree with it, or like it, Adkins is under tremendous pressure and has already been verbally sacked a couple of times already with that then rescinded. So it's not retarded all is it.

It baffles me, it really does. It seems we have a Recluctance to sign defenders. Last summer we were crying out for a centre back, and we got on on loan after missing out on our main targets. Now weve got a Jap who looked well out his depth.

Losing 6-1 away seems to be fine. If we'd lost like that to a rampant team way out of our league fair enough. We didn't. 4 goals were shocking defending, as those of us that know football expected.

Our faliure to sign decent defenders came home to roost. The defending at times was embarasing. Quite simply 4 of our back 5 are no where near good enough.
