Did they say that about Scott Carson as well? It's not like unusual for a young English playerr to have their ability massively overhyped. Also Nige once described Jonno Quick as "unplayable" in training. Maybe he's a star in the making as well?

I suggest Robinson a while back and a lot of people didn't rate him either. Over the hill, makes too many mistakes, won't want to move south and overrated I believe were some of the reasons. I understand Craig Gordon wouldn't make a good signing either as he is not good enough for Sunderland and injury prone. Rob Green? Forget it, the England number 2 is an average keeper that makes too many mistakes. Butland? too young and inexperienced. It seems TSW considers Davis to be irreplaceable.

Are to talking about Es & bottles of cheap cider at illegal all night raves?

Considering the state of some people at SMS either they are a bit dumb or clueless as to what suits them.

Interesting to note he says if he was playing now there was no way he could stay at Southampton. Bit of a reality check for all those that think our team of academy graduates are going it stay with us for their entire careers.

THere were a few of those packable lightweight jackets to be seen season before last.

I like the look of some of the Heritage Research gear as well. Never bought any but might have to as I've just notice Oi Polloi sale has started.

All the OTS ive got is good quality for the price. Shirt wise only got one but good quality. Fit was quite loose, fine for causal with jeans. Knitwear is really good.

He did he missed a sitter and a spectacularly bad backpass almost cost us a goal. He made a telling contribution.

the thing i liked is that the players & management actually appeared to want to be there. It's the first time in a while i've seen that in a team from manager downwards. It was also great to hear Joe Hart and Hodgson talking sense afterwards and not making excuses. I think England have the right man in Hodgson. He's good at getting the best out of limited rescources and there is not doubt we are miles behind the Spanish, Germans, French, Dutch player for player. It may not be spectaular but it'll be efficent and effective. And lets be honest, the players we have aren't good enough to be spectular.

Before everyone starts getting themselves at it about lying journalists and people guessing our finances and belittling little ol' Southampton surely common sense dictates that a £6-£7m transfer fee would represent a signifcant chunk of any club of our sizes transfer budget? If we spend £20m, this fee would still be well over a quarter of our transfer budget, so a "significant chunk", yes?

Do you actually think players join clubs just to sit on the bench and not compete for a first team place? I would not sign players that demand first team football. No player has a right to be picked and any that demand it clearly have an inflated opinion of themselves. I would also not sign anyone who joins as "backup" much to the dispointment of those on here who continually claim we need to sign back up players and think football squads consist of eleven first team players then eleven back up players who are not as good and will only play in the case of injuries and suspensions. We need 20-25 good players all aware they are part of squad and if they play well, work hard and show the right attitude they play. Their performances and attitude make them guarenteed first team football, not stamping of feet and demanding it in their contacts.

Careful mate. They've stared dishing out infractions for pointless comments again. I expect a few thousand points will be issued today, we wouldn't want any inconsistency from our moderators would we.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. No way is Milner an international footballer. His two contributions were to miss that chance and the shocking back pass which could easily have cost us a goal. Overall not a bad display and a draw was a decent result. Good to hear Hodgson and Hart after talking sense, being honest and actually sound like they were proud to represent their country.

This is going to be the highlight of the season for me. Seeing this experienced, seasoned pro who has played at Galtasasary, Rome & munich melt under the torrent of crisp lookalike taunts from the Curva Nord Ultras at SMS.
