he won less than 25% of his games with Saints, that's shocking at any level.

I got a two week ban after recieving numerous infraction points for pointless comments, if that is the case 90% of the posts on this forum should incur infraction points. However, this also coincided with a forum pussy, who will remain nameless, crying to admin about upseting him when he dished out abuse but couldn't take it. At the time when Baj wanted to flex his cyber muscles and show who is boss, i think we all know Baj runs this site and is the godfather of it, cross him you'll get a cyber bullet between the eyes. I wouldn't say i was one of the top 10 whipping boys though. Dune gets it more than most, he is often tag teamed by the forum superstars on here because he has an opinion which differs to theirs. The abuse he gets ranges from the quite brilliantly hilarious and ingenious play on user name insults such as "June" and "Dunce" to other more sinister things. His forum nemisis preach tolerance and freedom of speech as long as it's what they believe in. He is the main whipping boy on this forum sadly, as i like a lot of his posts and if we had a more opened minded forum they would provide some interesting debate rather than the usual Dune bashing which they lower themselves to.

the fact that you life revolves around what 11 men do on a saturday afternoon suggests that it'll take more than simply next season coming for you to get it back.

No, it's what Mickey said to Rocky Balboa in Rocky 2 when he taught him to fight right handed in order to beat Apollo Creed, "What's cant? there aint no cant" Look what happened then. We are at the beginings of learning to fight right handed, ie do something different to challenge the worlds elite. If a street fighter from Phillidelphia can win the world heavyweight boxing title, why cant a middle sized English club win the Champions League? There aint no cant.

I feel we can match Barcelona for architecture & nightlife. They may have the Sagrda Familia, which they haven't even bothered finish yet, compare that to the bargate and the City wall and all the history that goes with it, i know which one i find more interesting. I've been to Barcelona serveral times and the nightlife in the Ramblers and the Sea Front is not a patch on Bedford Place on a busy night. The Pensioners, Revolutions, the Rhino, all quality places and better than anything Barcelona can offer. Plus if its your bag, we have in Poletrix one of the best strip joints in the world. What with West quay shopping and the developments around Guildhall Square, Southampton is very much a city on the up, lively and vibrant whereas i feel Barcelona hasn't really progressed in the 10 years or so between my visits.

so surely that should tell you Antonio worshippers something.

If it's good enough for the Italian Stalion, it's good enough for us.

Indeed, he'd never what to join a club where he couldn't get first team football behind Owen and Ricky "better than Torres" Lambert.

People have suggested we need speed to stand a chance of promotion. Chicken chasing was how they did it in the old days, t'is an ITK fact that if you can catch a chicken you can catch lightening. Chicken chasing could become an important part of the developement of our academy, as well as providing the players with fresh free range chicken raised inhouse to have at lunch times. The only player exempt from chicken chasing is Jonno Quick, as it's quite clear from Niges words that this would be no challenge to him. There aint no cant.

Any Huddersfield players we should bid for?

Clarke Pilkington Rhodes I wanted Hudderfield to win but i just remembered after the game the up there when i was on the train back to Leeds and some know it all mug who i nearly sparked out giving it large. I thought i'd be friendly and said to him i thought they'd played well today and looked a good side and he went off on one about what a great team Hudderfield are, much better than us, they are going to win the league, Barnard is getting sent down etc etc. Shame the cameras didn't show him. attitude + aptitude = altitude Um. Just remember in 1976 an unknown Italian American was given a shot at the world heavyweight title of the world against the unbeaten champion, although he lost on points the first time he dusted himself off and adopted a new tactic and changed everything, he learnt to fight right handed and went onto win the title in a stunning upset. The similarities between us and Rocky Balboa are there for all to see. An underdog, Italian links and on a journey to greatness after being given a shot most can only dream of. Remember in Rocky 2 when Rocky said that he couldn't learn to fight right handed, Micky responded, "what's cant? There aint no cant" I think our super chairman should pin that to the wall of every changing room, toilet, office and cupboard in St Marys. We are the Rocky Balboa of the football world.

I really hope this isn't true. Berbatov is slow, lazy and has an atitude. The new Barcelona dont want players like this, we could do better and should be aiming higher than this has been.

I believe i can fly. If Saints believe they can fly and Cortese clearly does there is no telling where we might end up.
-
that's not one word. So you argument is already flawed. Why not? Our super chairmans has a vision. Believe.

Same thing happened to me as a kid. One of the biggest in my year at 12-15 so was captain of my school and sunday side, played for Soton Schools, watched by Pompey and bizarrely Norwich. I played centre half and centre midfield was fairly good tehnically, not outstanding though but could bully my way through games due to being bigger and also being able to play a bit. Trouble was when i got to 16 and the other lads had caught up i was f*cked and the better players were now the same size and as good as if not better than me technically and i couldn't just bully my way through games anymore by intimidating opponents, so went from being one of the better players to fairly average college/saturday league player. At school the ones that played in the school team were the biggest and quickest and the smaller ones who were probably more skillful didn't get a look in. The two most used phrases at school and tyro league level were "get rid of it" and "get stuck in" that just about sums up the mentality of kids football back then, sounds like it hasn't changed much.

The thread isn't about beating them, it's about us becoming the English Barcelona. We have the best academy in England, why cant we spread out wings and have the best academy in Europe? We have a fantastic chairman with a vision, a wonderful history of developing young players and a promise of investment to create the Southampton style. We are not starting from scratch we are half way there already. And if we need to demostrate in the square against our corrupt council and Hampshire constabulary to aid our cause then i'll be the first one there waving the flag of Southampton in the faces of the clowns.

From small acorns Beatle, from small acorns.....

at the same age Lallana is better. i think he has a better football brain than Messi, who often just looks for the simple pass after he has got himself into trouble by dribbling too much. People go on about him scoring 50 odd goals this season but it's easier to score in Spain, just look at Forlan and Kanute for proof of this, they couldn't do that in England. I cant imagine Messi would score 20 goals in England like Lallana did last season. Add to this Lallana is physically stronger than Messi then i think there can only be one answer as to which player is better.

He saves to the left he saves to the right Bart Biaowkowski makes Gordon look shi*te

/\ Real Madrid were too scared to play us, in case we did to them what Barcelona did to them earlier this season and we are the new Barcelona. ITK FACT.

To be fair it's going to take 10 years anyway. Get the best 10-14 year olds in and coach them so they all play the same way, make them technically good footballers and bring them through the ranks, U16's, U18's etc. They'll then have the commeradere that Barca have, they'll be playing with their mates, playing for each other playing for the club. Do we really beleive that spanish kids for example are born better footballers than English kids? Of course they aren't, they are schooled to keep the ball, pass and move, look for a pass out of defence etc, whereas English kids are schooled to "get rid of it FFS!!!" I do agree we need to get the top young players in europe, but we have shown we can get the top youngester in England, why not spread our wings further? I dont see why we cant be the new Barcelona. we have a lot in common, play in stripes (usually) seaside city, got our own airport, massive catchment area. It's all their to be had, we've just to go to bite into it.

utterly superb and dispatched the second best team in Europe with ease. With our super chairmans vision and the investment we have seen and been promised into our academy with the aim of being that they fill the first team in years to come were we watching tonight a glimpse into what the future holds for SFC?? Unrealistic you say? Well yes, maybe to think we would spank the English champions with such ease but what we saw tonight was what can be achieved with players with the right grounding. A fantastic style of football coupled with a team ethic and a real comaradere amougst the squad, they clearly played for each other. Whats to stop us picking up the best young English players, schooling them and coaching them, developing that same team spirit and togetherness and developing what our super chairman has already called "The Southampton Style"? I am certainly starting to buy into the dream. Could we be the English Barcelona? No one else has done it. Why cant we?

Does it say more about the ambition of WBA and Yeovils board though? The fact they've been able to obtain a glamour friendly against the new Barcelona and Ac Milan and Bayern haven't? I think we might be witnessing the start of a shift in the power of European football.
-
I agree Jamie and am seriously underwhelmed but WBA and Yeovil. Playing Barcelona, AC Millan etc now would be give the players extra motivation and would also be good preperation for when we are in the champions league.
