especially when Wogan has got one, FFS. Actually f*ck it, give Beckham one, given this is the standard required to get one.
-
I agree with all of what you say in this, Knighthoods are given out far to easily these days IMO. Elton John for example FFS! But seeing as how these days they are given out for personal gain and sporting achievement i still dont think Beckham deserves one, just for this, at the end of the day he was not part of a successful England team ever, unlike other football knights Charlton, Hurst and Moore. If in 20 years even 10 years time he is still doing all his other work then fair enough, but not now. As i mentioned above, if they are giving them out for Sporting achievement, then the only person who deserves on at the moment is Joe Calzaghe.
-
For me Calzaghe is the pinnicle of sporting excellence which all others should aspire to. We love an unlucky loser or a trier, but fail to appeciate true brilliane. Calzaghe is Britains only ever unbeaten world champion, world champion for 11 years and beat everyone put in front of him and never ducked a challenge, even Jeff "left hook" Lacy, who was dubbed the new Mike Tyson and was supposed to beat him up inside of 5 rounds, well Joe gave him a boxing lesson that night and destroyed him over 12 rounds. I was a big Cazaghe fan since the early days when he beat Robin Reid and Eubank. If anyone deserves a knighthood based on sporting achievement alone then it is him but he was overlooked by the media for most of his career so it's no surpise that this continues now.

Why does Flintoff??! Again i am a Freddie fan and again this is as a bloke and as a sportsman but he had one great series where he got p*ssed up for a month aferwards, what else has he achieved? Why are they any more deserving than Joe Calzaghie? World champion for 11 years and unbeaten for 40 odd fights and remains Britains only ever unbeaten world champion, beating some great fighters on the way and and everyone put in front of him. If any current sportsman deserves a Knighthood based purely on sporting performance it is him.

i take it the sarcasm of the OP and many on the thread was lost on you.

Dont understand this one, i am a big Beckham fan, i think he is a smashing bloke and have played for three of the world biggest clubs and he has been a great, if over rated player for England. The reality is though as a footballer has he achieved anymore than say Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes or for that matter Gary Neville. If in years to come he has been a great ambassador for football, raises load of cash for charity etc after a great career as a player, like Bobby Charlton, then fair play, but so far, IMO he doesn't deserve it just yet.

He is one tedious c*nt. Mcintyre annoys me as well.
-
Hi Sue. What i found odd about preseason was Pardew said he had deliberately set it up like that, so we played tough first so the players realised the situation we were in, i guess by that he meant despite the tag of favourites tag we are still not a great side, then playing the easier games later on. I've never heard of this before, all other preseaons have been start with a few games just to blow out the cobwebs, bit of fitness with them slowly getting tougher.
-
Who are these people like Macintyre? No one i know likes him, no one on here likes him, yet we keep being told he is this genius comedian by the media.
-
I dunno really but given he was available for nowt and has played his whole career at a higher level thought he'd be worth a punt. I mean it's not like he'd be the first player that was crap in the PL but did okay in L1 would it.
-
his recent show with Rob Brydon where they go around resturants was chringworthingly bad. The only funny part of it was at the start of one of the programmes some fella comes up to him and shows him a paper which says "'Coogan is a c*nt, says Dad'".

As i say like everyone of these so called conditions, there are genuine cases where it is indeed a mental problem. Far too many people though use bad things happening to them as an exucse to wallow in self pity then claim it's stress or depression. I've known dozens of people who claim to have depresion and i can only honestly say i have ever met one person who i consider genuine.(Although i am sure the PC crowd will say i am not qualified to judge this) All the others were just delicate, self indulgent little flowers unable to cope with knock backs, problems or anything out of their comfort zone that life threw at them. They concentrate on what they haven't got rather than what they have. The bottom line is that EVERYONE has something they could get depressed about. Accidents happen, things go wrong, people lose jobs, relationships end, family & friends die. It's happened to me it probably happened to everyone on this board at some point and it's life. But is the answer sitting on your arse not leaving the house being self indulgent with a woe is me attitude, dwelling on how unlucky and terrible your life is or cracking on with life and doing something about it? The modern society has created a culture in this country where people are firstly allowed to behave like this because the country has gone soft and also where people are not responsible for their actions because of all these modern coniditons mean they can blame their behaviour on an illness or conditon which in reality they dont actually have.

Jamie, We all know O'Neill was waiting for Cortese to give him a call. FFS.
-
He could do a job as a squad player in League One though surely. I mean look at Bradley Wright Phillips, terrible for us in the CCC unless he was coming on as a sub but top scorer in L1. Although if he wants £10k a week then he can jog on!

It's about as Saints related as man United and Chelsea chasing Wesley Schnider.
-
What a f*cking stupid quiz.
-
Or it could just mean Richardson & Barnard will be fit again and Fonte suspension free.
-
I am amazed that no one has comein for these two. Both could do a decent job at this level, must be some reason for it.
-
pleasure. I take it you still haven't had your fiver back.
-
thats why, you are one of them that whatever you've done there is always some c*nt that will brag they've done it bigger and better.
-
that is debatable.
-
and i am sure if an Exter fan had seen Hammonds performance against Peterborough he'd be saying Hammond is far better than Harely. You cant compare the two based on seeing one player once and the other over the course of a season and a half.

That is not how i remember it, I remember loads complaining about him always being offside and not understanding the rule. His stock has risen dramaticaly since he left. Nostalga is a great thing, but quite simply he was not as good as most on here think.
