In the last year we’ve got off the wage bill Davis Gabbiadini Austin Targett Gallagher Clasie Cédric Yoshida Plus whatever we’re saving on loans of Elyounoussi, Forster, Lemina and Hoedt. I conservatively estimate that at around £400k a week of the wage bill not including the loanees And brought in only Djenepo, Ings, Adams and the pointless Danso Which is estimate at about £175k a week, so we’ve slashed about £11.7m off the wage bill in the last 12 months.

Im not confusing anything pal. The two go hand in hand. If your recruitment policy is deeply flawed and you consistently recruit staff who are over paid and underperforming which Is hampering your ability to make other decisions then that isn’t a sustainable business model. A football team though is very different to running a normal business, everyone knows you need depth, competition for places plus quality and experience in certain positions. Every single club in the premier league also has a number of big money bad signings, but that doesn’t seem to force them having to sell to buy.
-
I haven’t developed that at all. I’m very realistic in that I we don’t have pots of money but I find it incomprehensible that we’ve gone into a transfer window saying we need to strengthen the defence and come out if weaker. I find it incomprehensible that we can’t compete with clubs like Brighton and Bournemouth in the transfer market when we’ve been in the premier league far longer and only ever spent what we’ve earned from player sales. And most of all I find it incredible that people who defend the club put the reason for this down to us having a lot of crap players on big contracts and insist we’re a well run club with a sustainable model. It simply isn’t the case.

Well he’s been here three windows, during each window he’s said he wants to bring players in and then at the end of it he’s said he’s content after it hasn’t happened, call me cynical but I would say he’s just toeing the line. I’m not really sure how things can change so dramatically based on a home win against a crap championship team.
-
Why is it unrealistic to quote what the manager has said on several occasions and point out it hasn’t happened? Why is it unrealistic to point out that we are the only club that has to sell to buy players and has made a profit from transfers? Why is it unrealistic to point out that our record transfer fee is the 3rd lowest of all current premier league clubs? Why is it unrealistic that having been in the premier league for 7 years we should be able to spend more than Watford, Bournemouth, Brighton, crystal palace and Newcastle? Why is it unrealistic to suggest that the fact that with all of the above being true the mantra “we’re a well run club” simply isn’t true?

Funnily enough everything changed after the Huddersfield game, which by an amazing coincidence was shortly after we’d missed out on a couple of targets. We went from the window being “vital” “must do something” to it not being that important at all because vokins, a player Ralph has seen every day for 18 months, played well against a championship team that barely got out of their own half. Maybe like in last January and the summer he had resigned himself to being let down again and just playing the PR game, perhaps.
-
I would say as he said the window wasn’t perfect and we definitely need to bring players in it’s far more likely he’s talking about failing to recruit. He doesn’t even mention selling players. Again it’s nothing about fans being realistic, Ralph said we need players, we haven’t delivered them. Those are the facts pal, just because you don’t like the, doesn’t make fans that point them out unrealistic.

What is an inconvenient truth some don’t want to hear is that Hasenhuttl has been here three transfer windows and we’ve failed him in all of them Jan 2019 “we will look for one transfer in” Summer 2019 “wasn’t perfect” January 2020 “absolutely vital we do something” Each time when the window is closing or shut he’s then said he was okay with it all and you lot make out everything is brilliant and he never said anything of the sort.
-
I tell you what is embarrassing pal, is that you’ve completely ignored what the manager has said about our transfer business. A quick google search throws up 3 interviews over a period of weeks before and during the transfer window where he said we need players and he also says he wasn’t happy with the summer transfer window either, but of course you reckon he’s chuffed to bits with it all and only said it once, seems like it’s you who wasn’t listening to the manger and knows better pal. When you can’t even get the basics right it negates any other points you might be trying to make https://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/southampton-transfer-news-ralph-hassenhuttl-rumours-gossip-epl-a9254466.html https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/18007432.southampton-boss-ralph-hasenhuttl-januarys-transfer-window/ https://www.msn.com/en-gb/sport/football/hasenhuttl-reveals-january-signings-are-not-a-must/ar-BBZ2ZSS

It needed strengthening last summer too and nothing happened.

By keeping our powder dry we are brilliantly set up for a cracking summer window. The overhaul can start then.

No pal, I actually agree with you and thought he’d be a regular in the squad. -

Errr, what happened? -
In regard to against our business model it’s been top draw. 10/10 Two big earners gone, one in probably on a lot less. We just to need to scrape a few wins which we should be able to do and irs another season of success staying up spending as little as possible.
-
And that is all that matters.
-
Just shut up and applaud our sustainable model. All together now Sell to buy, don’t question why We always gotta be sustainable
-
Not January though isn’t pal. We’ve needed a decent Centre back for 3 years, 6 transfer windows, remind me how it’s gone? Ralph said for weeks we need to strengthen in January, especially the full back positions. We’ve strengthened in those positions by letting 3 go and one come in by the looks of it. So we’ve actually weakened there. Not sure what “dumb comment” you’re talking about. Is pointing out that out of 20 premier league clubs only two have a lower record transfer feee than us and no other club has made a profit from transfers? It’s a fact pal, not a dumb comment. It’s funny when people don’t like facts they dismiss them as dumb comments and take high ground, defensive tactics I guess.
-
That what people said last January.
-
No it's fine, we're 9th! We don't have any holes in our squad! Our squad is amazing and we should all applaud our amazing self sustainable business model.
-
You might consider spending a decent wedge of cash on key positions like centre back to be "spending money for spending moneys sake" I consider it to be a vital part of being a competitive top flight club. As for the glaring holes in our squad, if you don't know where we are lacking depth and quality i'd suggest football isn't the game for you.
-
Staying up is the goal, it's just like the days of Askham, Lowe and the Dell. #survivalisuccess
-
Still not sure how for we're going to end up weaker in the full back positions when for weeks Ralph said we need to strengthen them
-
17 current premier league clubs have a higher record transfer fee than us We are the only premier league club that has made a profit from transfers We have glaring holes in our squad and were lucky not to be relegated the last two seasons Up until 2 months ago we looked certainties to be relegated this season A brief run of good form changes nothing from the fact we lack real quality and depth in about 6 positions But some fans are happy to applaud our magnificently successful sustainable model which relies totally on us selling anything that isn't nailed down to make any improvements to poor squad.
-
The board have kept their powder dry from the last 5 years, when's it going to get damp?
-
Laughable. We’ve made £70m profit the last two years, we’ve got 3 big earners going off the wage bill. How can we not have the means to improve the squad?
