  1. I find it very, very hard to believe that months of categorically saying we need to do something in the full back positions and have to sign someone have all been thrown out of the window by vokins having a good game against a terrible championship team who barely tried to get out of their half. He’s worked with him every day for over a year so knows exactly what level he is at before last Saturdays game. I would say his more recent comments are positive fan facing spin on either a failure or a lack of interesting in getting players in. I believe Ralph is very good manager and not one who is going to think our recent upturn in form has magically addressed the obvious issues in the squad that have been three for years. It’s also bleeding obvious that the club and manger have both directly said we need to do something in the transfer market this January as recently as a week ago, so those trying to pretend they aren’t saying that at all is quite simply laughable.
  2. Sorry Jordan, some people might think everything is wonderful but a few good wins don’t change the fundamental issues of the last three years or the stream of appeasement articles that come out of the club after some bad news and never deliver any of their content.
  3. Sorry mate but it's getting embarrassing, I'm just quoting what the manager has said. "absolutely clear" "We have to" "we must" "absolutely important" "We must get new players in, we know this" You keep believing that he means we'll just take a look and see
  4. 'It's absolutely clear that we have to do something in the full back position' When asked how important the window is to his side, Hasenhuttl replied: "Absolutely important. We must see that we get some new players in. We know this. The summer window was not perfect for us. "It is absolutely clear that we must do something with the full-back positions. This is definitely a position we're looking at for the moment and we will do something." "I would like to make transfers and the sooner we can get somebody the better it is," he said. "We've spoken about the full-back positions we have at the moment – Cedric Soares and Ryan Bertrand and that's it. So for two positions two players. “Absolutely important. We must see that we get some new players in. We know this. The summer window was not perfect for us." All direct quotes from the manager in the last month, but what he really meant was we'll have a look, jesus wept.
  5. I think it's you that's struggling my friend. The clubs media friends and the Manager himself have repeatedly said over a period of months we will and have to do something yet you and Egg are putting it down to people reading too much into it, that maybe we'll have look. I realise you've put yourself into a corner by making out they are saying something else, but they really aren't.
  6. Last weeks comment “We’re available in the market and we’re searching for, particularly, full-backs as a result of we all know that we now have not that many choices in the meanwhile,” Hasenhuttl stated. “We’ve got Ryan [bertrand] – not likely another for him. And we are also lacking younger [Yann] Valery on the best facet, we now have not that many options. “This will probably be positively a place the place we do one thing within the winter break. Just meant we might have a look though...…
  7. Direct quotes from the manager, absolute categorical statements via the clubs media source yet people are "reading too much into it" and what they really meant was "maybe"
  8. He also said this a few weeks ago, which was perfectly clear. Not sure what's changed. “The window in the summer wasn’t perfect. It’s absolutely clear that we have to do something in the full back position because even now we have one out,” Hasenhuttl told a news conference on Thursday. “We only have Ryan Bertrand and Cedric Soares in these two positions, so this is definitely a position we’re looking for... We’ll do something.”
  9. If you read that article and see think that the club saing that publicly that they back the manager and we don't have the players to play the way he wants and will address the most pressing problems at centre back and full back in January but that just means "We'll see, might be, perhaps" etc then I cant help you any further im afraid.
  10. that was a great game. I was in the Milton just behind where Le Tissiers free kick went in, the bend was incredible and knew it was going in before he hit it, it just had that feel about it. Packed Dell, massive away following, two teams going for it, the under dog taking a 2-0 lead and their keeper playing out of their skin, a comeback, extra time and four great goals. I think I listed that as one of my favourite every games on another thread a few weeks ago. Night games in the cup at the Dell were something special
  11. You couldn't have looked very hard, they are in that very same article in the Telegraph "Currently in 18th place in January they will address the most pressing problems that they have at full-back and centre-back. There is an acceptance that the club do not have the right profile of player in every position to suit Hasenhuttl's pressing-style game."
  12. I know it's not a press release but its been clear that the Telegraph and certain reporters there have been the clubs go to source for a number of years. They are always first to break transfer news, management changes etc even just the way the articles are written it "Southampton will" very definite statements, not Southampton might, or our sources tell us, etc that all the other media outlets report. So it's pretty obvious the club use them as their mouthpiece. Just read these to paragraphs, a very definite statement with details, not some random journalist speculating, just because you don't like to believe it doesn't make it untrue. "Southampton’s board and ownership have given their full backing to manager Ralph Hasenhuttl after the shattering 9-0 record-equalling Premier League defeat to Leicester City on Friday, pledging to rebuild the squad rather than remove their Austrian coach. The staff were told on Saturday morning that the club’s belief in the approach of Hasenhuttl is unshakeable and that there will be changes in the short-term as well as the long to players after two seasons of struggle. A new senior recruitment figure who will occupy a similar position to the departed director of football operations, Ross Wilson, will also arrive before the next international break."

This is probably spot on to be fair. Give Spurs all the tickets they'll take, guaranteed revenue rather than risk not selling out to our owns fans.
  14. Well we were meant to have a DOF and player trading expert in place before Novembers transfer window, so yes there is.
  15. We haven't signed any of them.
  16. We're great at playing it cool aren't we. If there is one thing we've learnt over the last three years is that no one bullies us when it comes to signing players. We wont pay over the odds and we do deals on our terms when we want it a cool and ruthless way. It's why we've been able to sign the likes of Carillo, Vestergaard and Elyanoussi for such bargain fees and turn our noses up at the likes of Qunicey Promes, Harry McGuire and James Maddison
  17. And it was exactly the same last year, the exact same newspaper after a few bad results reported in their usual matter of fact way big talk of a restructure, new players coming in, Paul Mitchell muted for a return as director of football. Yet absolutely nothing happened. It's all wearing a bit thin now.
  18. Ralph said only a couple of weeks ago the squad was unbalanced. A teenage left back playing okay in what was little more than a training game doesn’t change that. Cedric is leaving, Bertrand wants too and we only an injury or red card away from having to play vestergaard again so I’m not really sure what’s changed other than a few good results, our run won’t go in forever.
  19. After the Leicester loss the club via the telegraph issued a statement saying the club would allow the manager to rebuild the squad, starting in January where the most pressing issues of full back and Centre back would be addressed. They also said a new DOF and senior recruitment person would be in place before then. Failed on every count so far.
  20. Rather than address the symptoms shouldn’t the causes be addressed? Namely why is it women are crap artists?
  21. Yep, it’s about as relevant as saying how much was Mark Wright?
  22. UNlikely, Who is going to do the deals? Anyone who knew how to sign a player has left and replacement not here yet. I guess Semmens might know how to do a deal ater buying white boards for his marketing company.
  23. Im very surprised to see that after 90 minutes against a team that didn't get out of their half then suddenly we don't need to bring anyone in because we don't want anything to get in the way of Vokins development. Why wasn't that the case before?
  24. Strange that one game against a terrible championship side and Vokins is the answer, especially as we supposedly had done a deal for Aaron Bakker. Looks like this window will pan out exactly like all the other January ones, as predicted.
  25. Depends where in Surrey, where Bertrand lives is probably 1.45-2 hours in normal traffic.
